[Machine] Al-Hasan said, "Indeed, hearts die and come to life. And when they die, carry them with obligations. And when they come to life, discipline them with voluntary acts of worship."

الزهد لأحمد:١٥١٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ الْمُؤْتَمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ

قَالَ الْحَسَنُ «إِنِّ الْقُلُوبَ تَمُوتُ وَتَحْيَا فَإِذَا هِيَ مَاتَتْ فَاحْمِلُوهَا عَلَى الْفَرَائِضِ فَإِذَا هِيَ أُحْيِيَتْ فَأَدِّبُوهَا بِالتَّطَوُّعِ»
