[Machine] "And he said, take it, for I see you have become saddened."
[Machine] So I paid him, then I bought it from him for one dirham. Then I brought it to him and placed it in his hand. The beggar returned and Ibn Umar said to pay it to him. I said, "Taste it all for yourself." He said, "Pay it to him." I paid it to him, then I bought it from him for one dirham. Then I brought it to him and placed it in his hand. The beggar returned and said to me, "Pay it to him." I said, "Taste it all for yourself." He said, "Pay it to him." So I paid it to him and said to him, "Woe to you! Don't you feel ashamed in the third or fourth time? And I don't even know him." He said, "Only in the fourth time does doubt increase." He said, "So I bought it from him for one dirham. I left and then I came back to him and he ate it."

[Machine] I entered the house of my cousin's son, and there was nothing in it equal to this carpet of mine.
[Machine] One night before dawn, someone said to Abu Ghālib, "Won't you get up and pray, even if you only recite a third of the Qur'an?" I said, "O Abu ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, dawn is approaching, so how can I recite a third of the Qur'an?" He said, "Verily, Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ (Say, He is Allah, the One) [Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ 1] is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an."
[Machine] I mentioned a verse in the book of Allah: {And a barrier will be set between them and what they desire} [Saba 54]. He said, so I realized that the people of the Fire do not desire anything except cold water. And Allah has said: {Pour upon us from the water or from whatever Allah has provided for you} [Al-A'raf 50].
[Machine] When Abdullah ibn Amr fell ill with the sickness in which he passed away, he sent for some people from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Among them was Abdullah ibn Umar. He said to them, "What do you think has befallen me? I can see that I am close to death." They replied, "You used to give charity to the needy, maintain family ties, dig water wells for travelers, and build the pool in Arafat for the pilgrims to perform the rites of Hajj. We have no doubt about your salvation, and your eye is on Abdullah ibn Umar." Abdullah ibn Umar remained silent. When Abdullah ibn Amr took a long time to speak, he said to him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, why don't you speak?" He replied, "When profits are legitimate, expenses are paid, and debts are settled, then you will come to know."

[Machine] That there are traces of the Messenger of Allah in him.
[Machine] Say, "Oh ruin, what has happened to your people?" So I said, "Oh ruin, what has happened to your people?" Ibn Umar said, "They have gone and only their actions remain."
[Machine] Indeed, only hunger overtakes me during this month, and I do not satisfy myself except with a mere portion or two portions.
[Machine] Ibn Umar said, "O boy, cook the porridge until the heat of the oil goes away, for some people rush to enjoy their blessings in this worldly life."
[Machine] Ibn Umar came in with 22,000 dinars in a gathering and did not stand up until he distributed them.

[Machine] I heard Abu Sufyan saying, "Umar used to say, 'Leave what makes you doubt for what doesn't make you doubt.'"
[Machine] "He did not find pleasure in anything from his wealth except what he spent for the sake of Allah. He said, 'There was a time when he used to give charity in gatherings, with thirty thousand [dirhams].' He said, 'Ibn 'Amir gave him thirty thousand [dirhams] twice.' Nafi' said, 'I fear that the dirhams of Ibn 'Amir will tempt me. Go, for you are free.' He said, 'He would go on without tasting meat for a month, except when he was traveling or during Ramadan.' He said, 'He would stay a month without savoring the bite of meat in it.'"

[Machine] I heard Nafi', the freed slave of Ibn Umar, saying that Ibn Umar never recited these two verses from the end of Surah Al-Baqarah, except that he would weep:
"If you disclose something or conceal it" [Al-Baqarah 284] until the end of the verse, and then he would say, "Indeed, this is a severe reckoning."
[Machine] I saw Ibn Umar, may Allah have mercy on him, wearing rough clothing. It was said to him, or coarse clothing? I said, "O Abu Abdullah, I have brought you a soft garment made from what is made in Khurasan, and it pleases my eyes to see you in it. If you must wear rough or coarse clothing, show it to me so I may see it." He touched it with his hand and said, "Is it silk?" I said, "No, it is cotton." He said, "I fear that if I wear it, I will become arrogant and boastful, and Allah does not love every self-deluded boaster." [Hadid 57:23]
[Machine] That Ibn Umar used to revive (pray) from Dhuhr until Asr.
[Machine] And he passes by a verse in which the mention of the fire is there, so he stops and he prays and seeks refuge in Allah.
[Machine] That they should not sell until they cross the valley of the villages.
[Machine] "To be among those who make use of what Allah has provided for them, both in their stomachs and on their backs."
[Machine] What is his condition? They said, "Whenever the Quran is recited to him, he gets affected by this." He said, "We fear Allah and we do not fall down."
[Machine] So, why is it not better than that? It is for the sake of Allah.
[Machine] I have never seen anyone resemble the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than those who were buried in the land of Nimar, like Abdullah ibn Umar.
[Machine] I said to him, "O Abu 'Abdul Rahman, your food has become soft and your age has increased, and your companions do not know your rights or your honor. If you command your family to do something to make you comfortable when you return to them." He said, "Woe to you! I have not been full for eleven years, or twelve years, or thirteen years, or fourteen years, not even once. So how can it be for me? All that remains of me is the braying of a donkey."

Anas said "You people do (bad) deeds (commit sins) which seem in your eyes as tiny (minute) than hair while we used to consider those (very deeds) during the life-time of the Prophet ﷺ as destructive sins." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6492)
[Machine] As if it were a wheat grain on a pan, and he used to say, "O Allah, the fire has prevented me from sleeping." Then he would stand up for prayer.
[Machine] When a person wakes up, his limbs will intercede for his tongue, saying, "Fear Allah in regards to us, for if you are upright, we will be upright, and if you are crooked, we will be crooked."
[Machine] Saalih bin Saad used to say, "Indeed, I am a stranger among you." Someone would ask him, "Why?" and he would reply, "My companions have passed away, and I am left among you as a stranger."
[Machine] There was an old lady who used to take some of this beetroot and grind it with barley, and we would eat from it. We would neither have lunch nor dinner except after Friday prayer. 1089 Abdullah narrated to us, he said: This is a book that my father wrote for me in his handwriting, for protection against fear. And I (Abdullah) copied it. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which no righteous person or sinner surpasses, from the evil of what descends from the sky, and from the evil of what rises therein, and from the evil of what is scattered in the earth, and from the evil of what comes out of it, and from the evil of the trials of the night and day, and from the evil of every obstinate tyrant except the one whom hatred touches. O Most Merciful! Then he wrote again: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger, His punishment, and the evil deeds of His slaves, and from the whisperings of devils, and that they come near. O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all that they shade, and Lord of the seven earths and all that they carry, and Lord of the devils and all that they lead astray. And he mentioned something that he learned from the Ruqyah, and I heard him saying to the beetle, "May the enemies of Allah be dispersed and the splendor of Allah be exalted." I think he said, "And may the enemy of Allah be humiliated." Abu Abdur Rahman Abdullah said, my father said, and some of this speech is from Abu Nadr.

The nearest a servant come to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication often. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 875)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah said, "I have prepared for My Pious slaves things which have never been seen by an eye, or heard by an ear, or imagined by a human being." If you wish, you can recite this Verse from the Holy Qur'an:--"No soul knows what is kept hidden for them, of joy as a reward for what they used to do." (32.17) (Using translation from Bukhārī 3244)
[Machine] "On the Day of Judgment, people will be gathered in the most hungry, thirsty, and naked state they have ever been. So, whoever feeds for the sake of Allah, Allah will feed them. And whoever clothes for the sake of Allah, Allah will clothe them. And whoever gives drink for the sake of Allah, Allah will give them drink. And whoever is in the pleasure of Allah, Allah will be most capable of satisfying their desires."
[Machine] Upon you is the path and the Sunnah, for there is no servant upon a path and Sunnah mentioning the Most Merciful except that his eyes overflow with fear of Allah. And the fire never touches a servant upon a path and Sunnah mentioning the Most Merciful, and his skin does not shiver out of fear of Allah, except that his likeness is like a tree whose leaves have dried up, for it is like that when the wind touches it, its leaves fall off, and his sins will fall off from him at that time as its leaves fall off from it. And indeed, economy in a path and Sunnah is better than exertion in deviating from a path and Sunnah. So look at your actions, and if there is exertion and economy, then let it be upon the methodology of the prophets, peace be upon them, and their Sunnah.

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would send out an army, he would reach 'Aqabah al-Wada', and say, "I entrust Allah with your religion, your trustworthiness, and the ends of your deeds." One day, a man appeared wearing a patched garment. The Prophet ﷺ faced the direction of the rising sun, placed both his hands upon his cheeks, and extended his hands. He said, "You are today the best of people, since the world faces you. You are today the best of people, since the world faces you." The man said, "Should I not weep, especially after I have remained until I saw you and the Muslims covering their homes like the covering of the Ka'bah?"
[Machine] I heard Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari on the pulpit of Basra saying, "Whoever fasts the entire lifetime, Allah will make Hell narrow upon him." He also gestured to us with his hand, indicating that there is a knot in it, ninety years long.

[Machine] I entered upon Aisha, may Allah have mercy on her, with her share of the ma'sura (meat distributed among family members after slaughtering an animal). She asked, "Who sent you with this?" I said, "Abdul Rahman." She said, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, 'After me, only those who are patient will be blessed.' May Allah quench the son of Awf from a sip of the basin of Paradise.'"
[Machine] Weep, for surely the people of the Fire weep and their weeping is not shown mercy, so weep today for indeed your weeping today will be shown mercy.
[Machine] We were with our father Musa (may Allah have mercy on him) on a journey when he heard people talking loudly. He said to me, "O Anas, come and let us remember our Lord, for these people are almost destroying themselves with their tongues." I asked, "O Anas, why are people so preoccupied with this worldly life and have neglected the hereafter?" He replied, "The desires and Satan have misled them." I said, "By Allah, they have been hastened in this worldly life and delayed in the hereafter. If only they could truly see, they would not go astray nor deviate."
