AbuSufyan ibn Sa'id ibn al-Mughirah reported that he entered upon Umm Habibah who presented him a glass of sawiq (a drink prepared with flour and water) to drink. He called for water and rinsed his mouth. She said: O my cousin, don't you perform ablution? The Prophet ﷺ said: Perform ablution after eating anything cooked with fire, or he said: anything touched by fire. Abu Dawud said: The version of al-Zuhri has: O my paternal cousin.  

أبو داود:١٩٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَهُ

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ فَسَقَتْهُ قَدَحًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَمَضْمَضَ فَقَالَتْ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي أَلاَ تَوَضَّأُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا غَيَّرَتِ النَّارُ أَوْ قَالَ مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ  

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ فِي حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي

[Machine] He entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, so she offered him a drink. She then said to him, "O son of my brother, don't you want to perform ablution?" He replied, "I have not been in a state of impurity." She said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Perform ablution from what the fire touches'."

[Machine] "He entered upon Umm Habiba, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and she offered him a cup of drink made from Sawiq. He called for water and performed ablution, so she said to him, 'O nephew of mine, why don't you perform ghusl (ritual bath)? Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perform ablution with water that has touched fire or been altered."' "  

أحمد:٢٦٧٧٣ – حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَقَتْهُ قَدَحًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ أَوْ غَيَّرَتْ

[Machine] He entered upon Umm Habiba and she poured him a saucer of sour milk. He called for water and rinsed his mouth and she said to him, "O son of my sister, don't you perform ablution for indeed the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Perform ablution from what changed or touched fire.'"  

الطبراني:١٩٨٦٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَهُ

"Perform Wudu' O son of my sister! For the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Perform Wudu' from that which has been touched by fire.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 180)

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ فَسَقَتْهُ سَوِيقًا ثُمَّ قَالَتْ لَهُ تَوَضَّأْ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «تَوَضَّؤُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ»
