[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, from Zaid bin Aslam, from Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hunayn, from his father, that Ibn Abbas and Musawir bin Makhrama differed regarding the ablution of a person in a state of ihram (ritual consecration for Hajj or Umrah). Ibn Abbas said that the person in ihram should wash his head, while Musawir said that the person in ihram should not wash his head. So, Ibn Abbas sent him to Abu Ayyub al-Ansari. He found him washing between the two pillars while covering himself with a garment. Ibn Abbas greeted him, and Abu Ayyub asked, "Who is this?" Ibn Abbas replied, "I am Abdullah bin Hunayn, sent to you by Abdullah bin Abbas. I ask you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wash his head while in a state of ihram?" Abu Ayyub placed his hand on the garment and nodded at me, then said to someone, "Pour (water) over his head." So, he poured water over his head, and Abu Ayyub moved his head with his hands, both facing the Kaaba and turning away from it. Then, Abu Ayyub said, "This is how I saw him (the Prophet) doing it."

that there cropped up a difference of opinion between Abdullah b. 'Abbas and al-Miswar b. Makhrama at a place (called) Abwa'. Abdullah b. 'Abbas contended that a Muhrim (is permitted) to wash his head, whereas Miswar contended that a Muhrim is not (permit- fed) to wash his head. So Ibn Abbas sent me (the father of Ibrabim) to Abu Ayyub al- Ansirl to ask him about it. (So I went to him) and found him taking bath behind two poles covered by a cloth. I gave him salutation, whereupon be asked: Who is this? I said: I am 'Abdullah b. Hunain. 'Abdullah b. 'Abbas has sent me to you to find out how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ washed his head in the state of Ihram. Abu Ayyub (Allah be pleased with him) placed his hand on the cloth and lowered it (a little) till his head became visible to me; and he said to the man who was pouring water upon him to pour water. He poured water on his head. He then moved his head with the help of his hands and moved them (the hands) forward and backward and then said: This is how I saw him (the Messenger of Allah) doing.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Hunayn from his father Abdullah ibn Hunayn that Abdullah ibn Abbas and al-Miswar ibn Makhrama once had a disagreement at al-Abwa. Abdullah said that some one in ihram could wash his head, and al Miswar ibn Makhrama maintained that some one in ihram could not wash his head. Abdullah ibn Hunayn continued, "Abdullah ibn Abbas sent me to Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, and I found him doing ghusl between the posts of a well, screened by a garment. I greeted him and hesaid, 'Who is that?' I replied, 'I am 'Abdullah ibn Hunayn. 'Abdullah ibn Abbas sent me to you to ask how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wash his head when he was in ihram.' " He continued, "Abu Ayyub put his hand on the garment and pulled it down until I could see his head. He said to the man who was pouring out the water for him, 'Pour,' and he poured some over his head. Then he passed his hands over his head from the front to the back and then to the front again, and then said, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing it like this.' "

[Machine] And Ibn Abbas replied, "Yes, Ibn Abbas sent me to Abu Ayyub to recite to you greetings from your cousin, Abdullah ibn Abbas. And he asks you, 'How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wash his head while in the state of ihram?' Abu Ayyub replied, 'I found him washing his head between the two horns of a well, which was covered by a piece of cloth. When I brought water for him, he gathered the cloth to his chest until his face was visible to me. And I saw him standing with water poured on his head.' Abu Ayyub demonstrated with his hands on his head, showing how the Prophet ﷺ washed his head. Ibn Abbas said, 'I will never order you to do it differently.' Al-Hajjaj added, 'And Warh.' And when I associated with him and asked him, he gathered the cloth to his chest until his head and face were visible to me, and someone was standing pouring water on his head.'

[Machine] Ibn Abbas? Yes, Ibn Abbas sent me to Abu Ayyub to recite to you the greetings from your nephew Abdullah ibn Abbas and ask you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ghusl and wash his head when in a state of ihram. So, I found him performing ghusl between the two sides of a well that was covered with a cloth. When I approached him and asked him, he brought the cloth closer to himself until his face and head became visible, and there was a person standing by the well pouring water over him. Abu Ayyub then instructed me to put my hands on his head, so I approached him with my hands and then moved away. Al-Miswar said to Ibn Abbas, "I have never seen you doing this before," and Ibn Juraij did not narrate this part.
