[Machine] Abi Quhafa was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his head and beard were disheveled like a bird's nest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take him to one of his wives, they will groom him." So they took him and they dyed it red.
[Machine] "And by Allah, I did not marry her out of desire for wealth or children, but rather I wanted her to inform me about the night prayers of Umar. So I asked her, 'How was the night prayer of Umar?' She said, 'He would pray the darkness portion of the night, then he would command us to place a bowl of water near his head, and he would cover himself and perform 'atabah (a form of tahajjud) during the night. He would then place his hand in the water and wipe his face and hands, and then he would remember Allah with whatever He willed to remember. He would repeat this process until the time he would stand for his obligatory prayer.' So Ibn Buraidah asked him, 'Who told you this?' He replied, 'The daughter of Uthman bin Abi al-'As told me. She is trustworthy, by Allah.'"

[Machine] A woman named Khawla bint Hakim, entered the presence of Aisha, the wife of Uthman bin Mazh'un, while she was fasting. Khawla asked Aisha, "What is the matter with you?" Aisha replied, "My husband stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day." The Prophet ﷺ then entered and Aisha mentioned this to him. The Prophet ﷺ sought out Uthman and said to him, "O Uthman, we were not commanded to practice monasticism. However, your example is commendable and by Allah, I fear Allah the most among you and I am the most obedient to His boundaries."
[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who struggles with this village in battles. So may I be allowed to seek privacy and abstain (from others)?" He (the Prophet) said, "No, but you, O son of Mazh'un, should take up fasting, for it is a shield."
[Machine] "Umar bin Al-Khattab witnessed Uthman bin Mazhun while he was riding his camel, and Uthman was also on his camel, on the back of a hill in the Arj area. His camel pushed Uthman's camel, and Uthman's camel had passed ahead of the caravan, following the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Uthman bin Mazhun said, 'O the cause of this trouble, my back hurts!' When the animals settled down, Umar bin Al-Khattab approached him and said, 'May Allah forgive you, Abu Al-Sa'ib. What is this name you have given me?' Uthman bin Mazhun replied, 'No, by Allah, I did not give you this name. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ named you Abu Al-Sa'ib. This is the camel in front of the caravan that leads the people. We passed by one day, and we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, 'This is the cause of trouble,' and he pointed with his hand, 'There will always be a strong barrier between you and turmoil, as long as he is among you.'"

[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the courtyard of his house in Mecca, Uthman ibn Ma'dhun passed by. He looked towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said to him, "Won't you sit?" Uthman replied, "Yes" and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat facing him. While they were talking, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked up at the sky for a moment, then he shifted his gaze from Uthman to where he had placed it on his right on the ground. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from his companion Uthman towards where he had placed his gaze. He started shaking his head as if trying to understand something that was being said to him. Uthman was watching, and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his matter and understood it, he said to him, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached me and his gaze disappeared in the sky." Then he came back to Uthman to his original sitting position and said, "O Muhammad, in what were you engaged while I was sitting with you? I did not see you doing what you just did this morning." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Did you notice that?" Uthman replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while you were sitting." Uthman asked, "What did he say to you?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Indeed, Allah commands justice and good conduct and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He advises you that perhaps you will be reminded." Uthman said, "That was when faith settled in my heart, and I loved Muhammad ﷺ ."

[Machine] Abu Bakr came to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , with his father Abu Quhafa, being led by a blind old man on the day of the conquest of Mecca. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to Abu Bakr, "Did you leave the old man until we come to him?" Abu Bakr replied, "I wanted him to get the reward, for I was more delighted with the Islam of my father Abu Talib than my own. I seek through this the coolness of your eyes." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "You spoke the truth."
[Machine] Abu Quhafah was brought to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the conquest with white hair that looked like a white crow. He said, "Change it and stay away from black."

Abu Quhafah was brought on the day of the conquest of Mecca with head and beard while like hyssop. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Change this something, but avoid black. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4204)
Jabir reported that when Abu Qubafa (father of Abu Bakr) came in the yeu of Victory or on the Day of Victory (to the Prophet to pledge his allegiance to him) his head and his beard were white like hyssop. He (the Holy Prophet) commaded or the women were commanded by him that they should change this with something (that the colour of his hair should be changed). (Using translation from Muslim 2102a)

Then, when I got up, Uthman's messenger followed me with a purse containing fifty Dirhams. I have never seen Dirhams that were a greater blessing than what he gave me, and he received no account of it, while I was in need of it."

[Machine] Uthman ibn Abi Al-Aas had a house that he dedicated for gatherings, so we used to go to him there. And he would say, "There is an hour for this world and an hour for the Hereafter, and Allah knows best which of the two hours prevails."
[Machine] Indeed, I found the Muslim person between two needs, a need from the worldly life that he cannot do without, and a need for the Hereafter that he cannot do without. And Allah knows best which of the two needs prevails.

[Machine] Uthman ibn Abi al-Aas was a young man and we visited the Prophet ﷺ . He found me the most knowledgeable of them in terms of reciting the Quran, and I had excelled them with Surah Al-Baqarah. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have commanded you to lead your companions in prayer, and you are the youngest among them. So, when you lead a group of people in prayer, lead them with the weakest among them, for behind you are the old, the young, the weak, and those in need. And if you make a decision, do not take the plea, which is a type of bribe, or the fortune teller, or the milk of sheep, and the guessing of a man is more entitled to it than you. They said, "Who will take care of our baggage? Everyone wants to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ and dislikes being left behind." Uthman said, "I was the youngest among the people, so I said, 'If you want, I can hold onto your baggage while you go in. On the condition that you hold onto mine when I come out.' They agreed to that, so they entered and then came out and said, 'Come with us.' I asked, 'Where to?' They replied, 'To your family.' I said, 'I have been hit by my family until I reach the door of the Prophet ﷺ , so I will not go back and enter upon him. And you have already given me what I wanted from the agreement. Shouldn't you have known that?' They said, 'Hurry, for we have done everything we can. We have not left anything that we did not ask about.' So I entered and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to grant me understanding of the religion and teach me.' He asked, 'What did you say?' So I repeated my request. He said, 'You have asked me something that none of your companions have asked me. Go, for you are a leader over them and over the people who come after them, and I am the mother of the people, and I am weakest among them.' So I left until I came to him again and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I complained after you left.' He said, 'Place your right hand on the place where you feel pain and say, "I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I feel." Repeat it seven times.'
