[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I command you with three things and I forbid you from three things. I command you to not associate partners with Allah in anything, and to hold fast to obedience collectively until the command of Allah comes to you while you are upon that [obedience]. And I command you to advise the rulers from among you, those who command you with the command of Allah. And I forbid you from saying "this person said" and "that person said," and from excessive questioning and wasteful spending of wealth.
[Machine] "Do not be surprised by this, O Amir al-Mu'minin (Commander of the Faithful), for by Allah, when you violated my right to govern, it hurt me more than what you violated of me." Omar was amazed by this and it pleased him even more.

[Machine] Peace be upon you, O prince, who is accompanied by a group of people from the people of Sham. They said, "Who is this hypocrite who did not give a proper greeting to the Amir al-Mu'minin?" Uthman said to Muawiyah, "Indeed, they have criticized me for something that you know of. As for me, I have greeted Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, may Allah have mercy on them, with this greeting." Muawiyah said, "I truly believe that some of those who say so have been influenced. However, when the Fitnah (trial/conflict) occurred, the people of Sham said, 'By Allah, we will not compromise our faith and not shorten our greeting to our Khalifah.' And I say to you, O people of Madinah, that you call the worker of Sadakah (charity) 'Amir'."

[Machine] Hanein went for Hajj during the time of Uthman ibn Affan. I sat in a gathering in the Prophet's Mosque when a man among them began speaking. He said, "We were with the Messenger of Allah one day, and a man came and prayed near this pillar. He hurried before completing his prayer, then he left." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If this man were to die, he would die while not having perfected his prayer. He is not following the religion in any way. Indeed, a person should take his time and complete his prayer." I asked about this man, and I was told it was Uthman ibn Hunayf al-Ansari.

[Machine] We performed Hajj during the time of Uthman ibn Affan. I sat in a gathering in the Prophet's Mosque and a man came and prayed near this pillar. He hurried through his prayer before completing it and then left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If this man were to die, he would die while not being upon anything of the religion. Indeed, a person may do a lesser action and complete it." I asked about this man and it was said to me that he was Uthman ibn Hunayf al-Ansari.

[Machine] "On the authority of his grandfather, Uthman ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf, who said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to call people to have faith in Allah and to affirm it by word, without any action, before he migrated from Mecca. The Qibla (direction of prayer) was towards Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). When he migrated to us, the obligatory duties were revealed, and Medina was substituted for Mecca, and the statement about it was abrogated, and the House of the Haram (Kaaba) was substituted for Bayt al-Maqdis. So, faith became both a statement and action.'"
Sa'd said: “The Messenger of Allah disapproved of Uthman bin Maz'un's desire to remain celibate; if he had given him permission, we would have gotten ourselves castrated.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1848)

[Machine] His wife said: "Congratulations to you on Paradise." So the Prophet ﷺ looked at her with an angry look and said, "And what makes you think so?" She replied, "Your horse and your companion." The Messenger ﷺ said, "By Allah, I do not know what will be done to me." This caused great distress to the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from his words to Uthman, who was one of the best among them. When Ruqayyah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , died, he said, "May I be sacrificed for our predecessor, Uthman ibn Mazh'un."

Allah has made you a covering for them and made them a covering for you." Uthman said, "I dislike that." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, they see it from you and you see it from them." Uthman asked, "You are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes." Uthman then asked, "And who will come after you?" After Uthman turned away, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Uthman ibn Mazh'un is a modest and shy person."
