[Machine] Peace be upon you, O prince, who is accompanied by a group of people from the people of Sham. They said, "Who is this hypocrite who did not give a proper greeting to the Amir al-Mu'minin?" Uthman said to Muawiyah, "Indeed, they have criticized me for something that you know of. As for me, I have greeted Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, may Allah have mercy on them, with this greeting." Muawiyah said, "I truly believe that some of those who say so have been influenced. However, when the Fitnah (trial/conflict) occurred, the people of Sham said, 'By Allah, we will not compromise our faith and not shorten our greeting to our Khalifah.' And I say to you, O people of Madinah, that you call the worker of Sadakah (charity) 'Amir'."
