A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ who ordered her to return to him again. She said, "What if I came and did not find you?" as if she wanted to say, "If I found you dead?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you should not find me, go to Abu Bakr."

أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جِئْتُ وَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ كَأَنَّهَا تَقُولُ الْمَوْتَ قَالَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ

A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke to him about something and he told her to return to him. She said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! If I come and do not find you?" (As if she meant, "...if you die?") The Prophet said, "If you should not find me, then go to Abu Bakr."

أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ امْرَأَةٌ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَىْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جِئْتُ وَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ كَأَنَّهَا تُرِيدُ الْمَوْتَ قَالَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ

A lady came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and she talked to him about something, and he gave her some order. She said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! If I should not find you?" He said, "If you should not find me, then go to Abu Bakr." Ibrahim bin Saʿd said, "As if she meant the death (of the Prophet).

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَىْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا بِأَمْرٍ فَقَالَتْ أَرَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنْ لَمْ أَجِدْكَ قَالَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ زَادَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ كَأَنَّهَا تَعْنِي الْمَوْتَ

that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to speak to him about something. Then he ordered her with something, and she said: "What should I do O Messenger of Allah if I do not find you?" He said: "If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr."

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ وَأَمَرَهَا بِأَمْرٍ فَقَالَتْ أَرَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنْ لَمْ أَجِدْكَ قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ

that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to speak to him about something. Then he ordered her with something, and she said: "What should I do O Messenger of Allah if I do not find you?" He said: "If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3676)

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺفَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا بِأَمْرٍ فَقَالَتْ أَرَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ لَمْ أَجِدْكَ؟ قَالَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ

[AI] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him something. He told her to come back to him. She said, "What if I come back and do not find you, O Messenger of Allah?" She was threatened with death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "If you come back and do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَسْأَلُهُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَهَا ارْجِعِي إِلَيَّ فَقَالَتْ فَإِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ تُعَرِّضُ بِالْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنْ رَجَعْتِ فَلَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَالْقَيْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ

[AI] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke to him. He ordered her to leave. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if I come back and I do not find you?" He said, "If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr."

أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جِئْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ يَعْنِي الْمَوْتَ قَالَ «إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ»

[AI] That a woman came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asking him for something, and he said to her, "Go back to me." She said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, if I go back and do not find you alive, then who should I turn to?" He ﷺ said, "If you do not find me, turn to Abu Bakr."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَسْأَلُهُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَهَا «ارْجِعِي إِلَيَّ» فَقَالَتْ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ تُعَرِّضُ بِالْمَوْتِ قَالَ ﷺ «إِنَّ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَالْقَيْ أَبَا بَكْرٍ»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ once had a conversation with a woman and then instructed her to come back to him. She asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what if I come back and cannot find you?' It was as if she meant death. He replied, 'If you cannot find me, then go to Abu Bakr.'"

أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ امْرَأَةٌ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ كَأَنَّهَا تَعْنِي الْمَوْتَ قَالَ «فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَائْتِ* أَبَا بَكْرٍ»

[AI] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke to him about something. He commanded her to go back to him, so she said, "O Messenger of Allah, if I come and do not find you, it means death." He said, "If you do not find me, go to Abu Bakr."

أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَكَلَّمَتْهُ بِشَيْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ جِئْتُ وَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ تَعْنِي الْمَوْتَ قَالَ «إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَائْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ was approached by a woman who spoke to him about something. He instructed her to come back to him. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if I come back and I do not find you?" It seemed that she meant death. He said, "If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr and convey this statement of mine to him."

أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ امْرَأَةٌ وَكَلَّمَتْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ رَجَعْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْكَ؟ كَأَنَّهَا تَعْنِي الْمَوْتَ قَالَ إِنْ لَمْ تَجِدِينِي فَأْتِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِهِ عَنِ الشَّعْرَانِيِّ
