[AI] "Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: 'Indeed, this late-night vigil (Tahajjud prayer) is effort and a burden. So, if any of you wants to perform it, let him offer two Rak'ahs (units of prayer) after Witr. And if anyone among you does not perform it, these two Rak'ahs will be for him also.' And it is also said: 'This is the night journey (Isra') and I say, it is the vigil.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا السَّهَرَ جَهْدٌ وَثِقَلٌ فَإِذَا أَوْتَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِنْ قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَإِلَّا كَانَتَا لَهُ» وَيُقَالُ هَذَا السَّفَرُ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ السَّهَرُ

[AI] “We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and he said, ‘Indeed, this journey is difficult and burdensome. So, when someone among you wants to rest, let him perform two units of prayer, for if he wakes up, they will be for him.’”

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا السَّفَرَ جُهْدٌ وَثُقْلٌ فَإِذَا أَوْتَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَإِلَّا كَانَتَا لَهُ»

عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ فِي هَذَا السَّفَرِ جَهْدٌ وَثُقْلٌ فَإِذَا أَوْتَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَإِلَّا كَانَتَا لَهُ قَالَ الْإِمَامُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى يَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمُرَادُ بِهِ رَكْعَتَانِ بَعْدَ الْوِتْرِ وَيَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَرَادَ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتِرَ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْوِتْرِ
