The Prophet ﷺ said: Were dogs not a species of creature I should command that they all be killed; but kill every pure black one.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ الْكِلاَبَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا الأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If it were not that dogs were part of a nation among the nations, then I would order to that all of them be killed. So kill every one of them that is all black."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ الْكِلاَبَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا كُلِّهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَجَابِرٍ وَأَبِي رَافِعٍ وَأَبِي أَيُّوبَ

"I was one of those who held up the branches from the tree away from the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering the Khutbah saying: 'If it were not that dogs were a nation among nations, then I would order that they be killed. So kill every one among them that is all black. There is one inhabiting a home in which they keep a dog but their deeds are decreased by one Qirat every day - except for a hunting dog, or a farm dog, or a sheep dog.'"

عَنْ وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ الْكِلاَبَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ وَمَا مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَرْتَبِطُونَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ إِلاَّ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ غَنَمٍ

"Were it not that dogs form one of the communities (or nations - of creatures), I would have commanded that they be killed. But kill those that are all black. Any people who keep a dog, except for dogs used for farming, hunting or herding livestock, one Qirat will be deducted from their reward each day."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it weren't for the fact that dogs are a nation among the nations, I would have ordered for them to be killed. So, kill the black dog, as it diminishes the rewards of its owners each day by a qirat. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Pray in the dwellings of sheep and do not pray in the blessed places of camels. Verily, camels have been created from the devils."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا الْأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَوَأَيُّمَا قَوْمٍ اتَّخَذُوا كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلُّوا فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ وَلَا تُصَلُّوا فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ فَإِنَّهَا خُلِقَتْ مِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا الْأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ» قَالَ «وَأَيُّمَا قَوْمٍ اتَّخَذُوا كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ حَرْثٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ» قَالَ وَكُنَّا نُؤْمَرُ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ وَلَا نُصَلِّيَ فِي أَعْطَانِ الْإِبِلِ فَإِنَّهَا خُلِقَتْ مِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "If it were not that dogs are a community among the communities, I would have ordered their killing. But kill the jet black dog, as it is a devil."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا وَلَكِنِ اقْتُلُوا الْكَلْبَ الْأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ فَإِنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "If it were not for the fact that dogs are a community among the communities, I would have ordered the killing of every black creature. So kill the jet-black ones among the dogs, for they are devils among the jinn."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِ كُلِّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ فَاقْتُلُوا الْمعينةَ مِنَ الْكِلَابِ فَإِنَّهَا الْمَلْعُونَةُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا الْأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ وَأَيُّمَا قَوْمٍ اتَّخَذُوا كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ حَرْثٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to kill the dogs, so we killed them even if the Bedouin woman came with her dog, we would kill it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the dogs were not a nation from among the nations, I would have ordered their killing, but kill every black dog with two blue spots on its eyes."

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ فَقَتَلْنَاهَا حَتَّى إنْ كَانَتِ الْأَعْرَابِيَّةُ تَجِيءُ مَعَهَا كَلْبُهَا فَنَقْتُلُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُفْنِيَهَا لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا وَلَكِنِ اقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ ذِي عَيْنَيْنِ بَيْضَاوَيْنِ

"لَوْلا أَنَّ الكلابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأمَم أَكْرَه أَنْ أُفْنِيَهَا، لأمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِها، ولَكِن اقْتُلوا مِنْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بِهِيم، ذِي عَينَينِ بَيضَاوَين".

"لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا كُلِّهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا الأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ".

"لَوْلا أَنَّ الْكِلابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِ كُلِّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ فَاقْتُلُوا الْمَعِينَة (*) مِنَ الْكِلابِ، فَإِنَّهَا الْمَلْعُونَةُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ".

"عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ قَاَل: مَنْ دَفَعَ أَغْصَانَ الشَّجَرَةِ عَنْ وَجْهِ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنَّ الكِلَابَ أمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بَقَتْلِهَا، وَلَكِنِ اقْتُلُوا منْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بِهِيمٍ وَأيُّمَا أهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَرْتَبِطُونَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا نَقَصَ مِنْ أجُورِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيْرَاطٌ إلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ وكَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ غنَمٍ".
