The Prophet ﷺ said, "Straighten your rows, for I see you from behind my back.'

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَقِيمُوا الصُّفُوفَ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِي

[AI] The prayer was called to begin, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned his face toward us and said: "Straighten your rows and stand close together, for I can see you from behind my back."

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: «أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا، فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي».

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Straighten your rows for I see you from behind my back." Anas added, "Everyone of us used to put his shoulder with the shoulder of his companion and his foot with the foot of his companion."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ، فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي۔» وَكَانَ أَحَدُنَا يُلْزِقُ مَنْكِبَهُ بِمَنْكِبِ صَاحِبِهِ وَقَدَمَهُ بِقَدَمِهِ۔

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Perform the bowing and the prostrations properly. By Allah, I see you from behind me (or from behind my back) when you bow or prostrate."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَقِيمُوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Perform the bowing and the prostration properly (with peace of mind), for, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I see you from behind my back when you bow and when you prostrate."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا مَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا مَا سَجَدْتُمْ

Perform bowing and prostration well. By Allah, I see you even if you are behind me, or he said: (I see you) behind my back when you bow or prostrate.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَقِيمُوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: Complete the bowing and prostration well. By Allah, I see you behind my back as to how you bow and prostrate or when you bow and prostrate.

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا مَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا مَا سَجَدْتُمْ وَفِي حَدِيثِ سَعِيدٍ إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Complete the rows, for I can see you behind my back.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَتِمُّوا الصُّفُوفَ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِي

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺturned to face us when he stood up to pray, before he said the Takbir and said: 'Make your rows straight and come close to one another, for I can see you behind my back."'

أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهِهِ حِينَ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to face us when he stood up to pray, before he said Takbir, and said: 'Make your rows straight and fill the gaps, for I can see you from behind my back."'

أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهِهِ حِينَ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

"I heard Anas narrate that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Bow and prostrate properly when you bow and prostrate.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ said to the people, 'Perform your prayers with excellence, for I see you from behind as I see you in front of me.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِلنَّاسِ أَحْسِنُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ خَلْفِي كَمَا أَرَاكُمْ أَمَامِي

Once the Iqama was pronounced and Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced us and said, "Straighten your rows and stand closer together, for I see you from behind my back.' (Using translation from Bukhārī 719)

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Complete your bowing and prostration, for by Allah, I can see you after me, and perhaps he said, 'from behind my back' when you bow and when you prostrate."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to face us with his face before he said the Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), and he would say, "Stand in straight rows and make everything equal, for I am seeing you from behind my back."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقْبِلُ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ فَيَقُولُ تَرَاصُّوا وَاعْتَدِلُوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Perform the bowing and the prostrations properly. By Allah, I see you from behind me (or from behind my back) when you bow or prostrate." (Using translation from Bukhārī 742)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ

[AI] The messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Take care of these rows, for I see you from behind."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الصُّفُوفَ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ خَلْفِي

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: 'Complete the bowing and prostration, for by Allah, I see you from behind me when you bow and when you prostrate.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا مَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا مَا سَجَدْتُمْ

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Complete the bowing and prostration, for by Allah, I see you from behind me when you bow and when you prostrate.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا مَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا مَا سَجَدْتُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to his companions and said, "Organize your rows and stand close together, for I see you from behind me."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to face us with his face before he performed the takbir and would say, "Arrange yourselves in rows and stand straight, for I see you from behind my back."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقْبِلُ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ فَيَقُولُ تَرَاصُّوا وَاعْتَدِلُوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Perform the bowing and prostration perfectly, for by Allah, I can see you from behind me when you bow and prostrate."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَاللهِ لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺturned to face us when he stood up to pray, before he said the Takbir and said: 'Make your rows straight and come close to one another, for I can see you behind my back."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 814)

أَنَّ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ تَرَاصُّوا تَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظهري

أَنَّ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ تَرَاصُّوا تَرَاصُّوا إِنِّي لأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا سجدتم

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ والسجود فوالله إني لأراكم من رواء ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ

"I heard Anas narrate that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Bow and prostrate properly when you bow and prostrate.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1054)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ وَسَجَدْتُمْ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺturned to face us when he stood up to pray, before he said the Takbir and said: 'Make your rows straight and come close to one another, for I can see you behind my back."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 814)

أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهِهِ حِينَ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ قَالَ «أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after the prayer was established, before making the Takbeer, turned his face towards his companions and said, "Straighten your rows and stand close together, for I see you from behind my back. Indeed, I have seen a man touching his shoulder to his brother's shoulder when standing in prayer."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ أَنْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ أَقْبَلَ بِوَجْهِهِ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ يُلْزِقُ مَنْكِبَهُ بِمَنْكِبِ أَخِيهِ إِذَا قَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ

Once the Iqama was pronounced and Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced us and said, "Straighten your rows and stand closer together, for I see you from behind my back.' (Using translation from Bukhārī 719)

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي

[AI] My friend, Khalil, advised me to do three things: fasting three days of every month, praying two units of Duha (forenoon prayer), and performing the Witr prayer before going to sleep. Abu Amr Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Adib informed us, Abu Bakr al-Isma'ili narrated to us, Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Firyabi narrated to us, Shayban ibn Farrokh narrated to us, and Abdul Warith mentioned it with a similar narration except that he said, "Abu Uthman, meaning al-Nahdi, narrated to me."

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ بِصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى وَأَنْ أُوتِرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَرْقُدَ 4843 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمِثْلِهِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي النَّهْدِيَّ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Straighten your rows, for I see you behind my back."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَقِيمُوا الصُّفُوفَ؛ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِي

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Straighten your rows, for I see you from behind my back.' (Using translation from Bukhārī 718)

"أتموا الصفوفَ، فإنى أراكم خلفَ ظهرى" .

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Perform the bowing and the prostration properly (with peace of mind), for, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I see you from behind my back when you bow and when you prostrate." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6644)

"أتموا الركوعَ والسجود، فالذي نفسى بيده: إنَّى لأراكم من وراءِ ظهرى إذا ركعتم وإذا سجدتم".

"أحسنوا صلاتكُمْ فإنى أراكم خَلْفى كما أراكم قدَّامِى".

"إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إلى الصلاةِ فاعدلوا صُفُوفكُمْ وسُدُّوا الفُرجَ فإِنِّى أراكُمْ مِنْ وراءِ ظَهْرِى" .

"اعْتَدلِوا في صُفوفِكُمْ، فإنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وراء ظَهْرِى".

"اعْدِلُوا صُفُوفَكم، فإِنِّي أَراكُمْ مِنْ خَلْفي".

"أقيموا صُفوفكم وتَرَاصُّوا؛ فإني أَرَاكُمْ مِن وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِى".

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Perform the bowing and the prostrations properly. By Allah, I see you from behind me (or from behind my back) when you bow or prostrate." (Using translation from Bukhārī 742)

"أقيمُوا الرُّكوعَ والسُّجُود، فوالله إني لأراكُمْ مِن بعد ظَهْرِي إذا ركَعُتمْ وإذا سَجَدْتُمْ".

"تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الصُّفُوفَ؛ فَإنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ خَلْفِى".

" أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ حِينَ يَقُومُ: تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الصُّفوفَ، فَإِنِّى أرَاكُمْ مِنْ خَلفِى".
