Yahya related to me from Malik from Salih ibn Kaysan from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The prayer was prescribed as two rakas, both when settled and when travelling. Then the travelling prayer was kept as it was, and an increase was made in the prayer when settled. "  

مالك:٩-١٠ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ فُرِضَتِ الصَّلاَةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي صَلاَةِ الْحَضَرِ

the mother of believers: Allah enjoined the prayer when He enjoined it, it was two rakʿat only (in every prayer) both when in residence or on journey. Then the prayers offered on journey remained the same, but (the rakʿat of) the prayers for non-travelers were increased.  

البخاري:٣٥٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ

فَرَضَ اللَّهُ الصَّلاَةَ حِينَ فَرَضَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي صَلاَةِ الْحَضَرِ  

muslim:685a – Yaḥyá b. Yaḥyá > Mālik > Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān > ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr

The prayer was prescribed as two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs both in journey and at the place of residence. The prayer while travelling remained as it was (originally prescribed), but an addition was made in the prayer (observed) at the place of residence.  

مسلم:٦٨٥a – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ فُرِضَتِ الصَّلاَةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي صَلاَةِ الْحَضَرِ  

nasai:455 – Qutaybah > Mālik > Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān > ʿUrwah > ʿĀʾishah

"The Salah was enjoined two Rak'ahs at a time, then the Salah when traveling remained like that, but the Salah while resident was increased."  

النسائي:٤٥٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

فُرِضَتِ الصَّلاَةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي صَلاَةِ الْحَضَرِ

The prayer was prescribed as consisting of two rak'ahs both when one was resident and when travelling. The prayer while travelling was left according to the original prescription and the prayer of one who was resident was enhanced.  

أبو داود:١١٩٨ – حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ

فُرِضَتِ الصَّلاَةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي صَلاَةِ الْحَضَرِ  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ عَدَدَ الصَّلَوَاتِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فِي أَوَّلِ مَا فُرِضَ كَانَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

ابن حبّان:٢٧٣٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ «فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلَاةُ السَّفَرِ وَزِيدَ فِي الْحَضَرِ»  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ قَوْلَ عَائِشَةَ: «فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»، أَرَادَتْ بِهِ فِي أَوَّلِ مَا فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ

[Machine] She said, "The first thing that was obligated regarding prayer, whether in settled or traveling situations, is two units of prayer. Then the prayer was increased in settled situations, while it was simplified in traveling situations."  

ابن حبّان:٢٧٣٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بِحَرَّانَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ «أَوَّلُ مَا فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ زِيدَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْحَضَرِ وَأُقِرَّتْ فِي السَّفَرِ»  

nasai-kubra:313 – Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm > Sufyān > al-Zuhrī > ʿUrwah > ʿĀʾishah
