8. Book of Purification (5/9)
Taking bath on Friday is necessary for every adult. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 341)
What is this hour (for attending the prayer)? He said: I was busy today and I did not return to my house when I heard the call (to Friday prayer), and I did no more but performed ablution only. Upon this Umar said: just ablution! You know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded (us) to take a bath (on Friday). (Using translation from Muslim 845a)
If anyone performs ablution, doing it well, then come to the Friday prayer, listens and keeps silence, his sins between that time and the next Friday will be forgiven, with three days extra; but he who touches pebbles has caused an interruption. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1050)
[Machine] Sure! The translation of the given Arabic sentence is:
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah has a right upon every Muslim to perform Ghusl (ritual ablution) every seven days, on a specific day, and if he has perfume, he should apply it."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Ghusl should be performed on Friday by everyone who has reached the age of puberty, and using the siwak, and he should put on whatever he is able of using perfume." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1383)
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "It is a right upon every Muslim to perform a ritual bath (ghusl) every seven days and to apply fragrance if available."
[Machine] "I saw us while we were with our Prophet, peace be upon him. Even if a drop of rain had touched us, you would have smelled the scent of sheep from us."
The people (mostly) were workers and they would come for Friday prayer in the same condition, so it was said to them: If only you were to perform Ghusl. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 352)
The people came for Jumu'a prayer from their houses in the neighbouring villages dressed in woollen garments on which dust was settled and this emitted a foul smell. A person among them (those who were dressed so) came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in my house. The Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said to him: Were you to cleanse yourselves on this day. (Using translation from Muslim 847a)
8.10 [Machine] Bathing of the disbeliever when he embraces Islam.
[Machine] Thumamah al-Hanafi was captured, so the Prophet ﷺ used to visit him and say, "What do you have, O Thumamah?" Thumamah would reply, "If you kill, then kill a man of blood, and if you show kindness, then be kind to a grateful person, and if you take something, then give whatever you wish." The companions of the Prophet ﷺ loved to offer ransom and they would say, "What should we do with this man's killing?" One day, the Prophet ﷺ passed by him and he embraced Islam. The Prophet then sent him to the orchard of Abu Talhah and commanded him to bathe. He bathed and prayed two rak'ahs. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, the Islam of your companion is good."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent some horsemen to Najd. They captured a man. He was from the tribe of Banu Hanifa and was called Thumama b. Uthal. He was the chief of the people of Yamama. People bound him with one of the pillars of the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to (see) him. He said: O Thumama, what do you think? He replied: Muhammad, I have good opinion of you. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you do me a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you want wealth, ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be pon him) lefthim (in this condition) for two days, (and came to him again) and said: What do you think, O Thumama? He replied: What I have already told you. If you do a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you want wealth, ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left him until the next day when he (came to him again) and said: What do you think, O Thumama? He replied: What I have already told you. If you do me a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you want wealth ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Set Thumama free. He went to a palm-grove near the mosque and took a bath. Then he entered the mosque and said: I bear testimony (to the truth) that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His bondman and His messenger. O Muhammad, by Allah, there was no face on the earth more hateful to me than your face, but (now) your face has become to me the dearest of all faces. By Allah, there was no religion more hateful to me than your religion, but (now) your religion has become the dearest of all religions to me. By Allah, there was no city more hateful to me than your city, but (now) your city has become the dearest of all cities to me. Your horsemen captured me when I intended going for Umra. Now what is your opinion (in the matter)? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced good tidings to him and told him to go on 'Umra. When he reached Mecca, somebody said to him: Have you changed your religion? He said: No! I have rather embraced Islam with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, you will not get a single grain of wheat from Yamama until it is permitted by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Muslim 1764a)

It was narrated from Qais bin 'Asim that he accepted Islam, and the Prophet commanded him to perform Ghusl with water and lotus leaves. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 188)
8.11 [Machine] The water
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Nothing makes water impure."
[Machine] "A woman from the wives of the Prophet ﷺ performed ghusl from janabah (post-sexual impurity). Then the Prophet ﷺ came and performed wudu from the leftover water. She said to him, and he said, 'Verily, nothing makes the water impure.'"
[Machine] Narrated by Al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Safwan ibn Suleiman from Sa'id ibn Salamah from the descendants of Banu Al-Azraq that Al-Mughirah ibn Abi Burdah, who was from the descendants of Banu Abdud-Dar, informed him that he heard Abu Hurairah say: A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : O Messenger of Allah, we ride on the sea and carry with us a small amount of water, so if we perform ablution with it, we become thirsty. Should we perform ablution with the water of the sea? The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Its water is pure, and its dead animals are lawful to eat."

It was narrated from Umm Hani' that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Ghusl, he and Maimunah from a single vessel, a bowl in which there were traces of dough. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 240)
when a fly alights in anyone’s vessel, he should plunge it all in, for in one of its wings there is a disease, and in the other is a cure. It prevents the wing of it is which there is a cure, so plunge it all in (the vessel). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3844)

[Machine] Concerning the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "If a fly falls into one of your containers, then dip it fully in, for indeed in its one wing there is a disease and in the other wing there is a cure."
One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ took a bath from a large bowl. The Prophet ﷺ wanted to perform ablution or take from the water left over. She said to him: O Prophet of Allah, verily I was sexually defiled. The Prophet said: Water not defiled. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 68)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water and how some animals and carnivorous beasts might drink from it. He said: 'If the water is more than two Qullahs, it will not carry filth.'"[1] [1]It comes with some explanation in Sunan At Timidhi 'Abdah (one of the narrators) said: "Muhammad bin Ishaq said: 'A Qullah refers to Jirar (These are two nouns describing large casks that are used to hold water), and a Qullah is the thing that drinking water is held in."' At-Tirmidhi said: "This is the saying of Ash Shafa'i, Ahmad and Ishaq. They say that when the water is two Qullahs then nothing makes it impure, as long as it does not change its smell, and its taste. And they say, it is approximately fifty Qirbahs (waterskins)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 52)

The letter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was read out to us in the territory of Juhaynah when I was a young boy: Do not make use of the skin or sinew of an animal which died a natural death. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4127)
