Messenger of Allah ﷺ said thrice, "Shall I not inform you of the biggest of the great sins?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ" He said, "To join partners in worship with Allah: to be undutiful to one's parents." The Prophet ﷺ sat up after he had been reclining and added, "And I warn you against giving forged statement and a false witness; I warn you against giving a forged statement and a false witness." The Prophet kept on saying that warning till we thought that he would not stop.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَلاَ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ أَلاَ وَقَوْلُ الزُّورِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَلاَ وَقَوْلُ الزُّورِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ فَمَا زَالَ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْتُ لاَ يَسْكُتُ  

We were in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he observed: Should I not inform you about the most grievous of the grave sins? (The Holy Prophet) repeated it three times, and then said: Associating anyone with Allah, disobedience to parents, false testimony or false utterance. The Prophet was reclining, then he sat up, and he repeated it so many times that we wished that he should become silent.  

كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَلاَ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ ثَلاَثًا الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُتَّكِئًا فَجَلَسَ فَمَازَالَ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ  

"Shall I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins?" They said: "Of course O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" He said: "Shirk with Allah disobeying parents, and false testimony." Or: "False speech" He said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not stop saying it until we said ( to ourselves): 'I wish he would be quiet. "  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَلاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ قَالَ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ  

" The messenger of Allah said: 'Shall I not tell you of the biggest of the major sins?' they said : 'Of course! O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'To join partners with Allah, and disobeying one's parents.'"He said : " He sat up, and he had been reclining. He said: 'And false testimony, or false speech.' And the Messenger of Allah would not stop saying it until we said (to ourselves): 'I wish that he would stop.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَلاَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا فَقَالَ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ  

from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Shall I not narrate to you about the worst of the major sins?" They said: "Of course O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Associating others with Allah and disobeying the parents." He said: "And he sat reclining and said: 'The false testimony.' Or he said: 'The false statement.'" He said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not stop saying it until we said (to ourselves): 'If he would only stop.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَلاَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا قَالَ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ قَالَ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the major sins and said, "Associating partners with Allah and disobedience to parents." He was reclining, then he sat up and said, "And false testimony and false testimony or false statement." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued to repeat it until we wished he would stop. He said it once, Al-Jurairi informed us, Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah narrated from his father who said, "We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and he said, 'Shall I not inform you of the greatest of major sins? It is associating partners with Allah.' Then he mentioned it."  

ذُكِرَ الْكَبَائِرُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَوقَالَ مَرَّةً أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ فَذَكَرَهُ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not inform you of the greatest of sins?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Associating partners with Allah, disobedience to parents." Then he sat up and was reclining, and continued to repeat, "And false testimony." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ repeated it so many times that we wished he would stop. In the narration of Ibn Ulayyah, he said, "We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and he said, 'Shall I not inform you?' And he said, 'False testimony.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ؟ ثَلَاثًا قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا أَلَا وَقَوْلُ الزُّورِ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ بِشْرٍ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ وَقَالَ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ ثَلَاثًا  

Abu Bakra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Shall I tell you which is the worst of the major wrong actions?" "Yes, Messenger of Allah," they replied. He said, "Associating something else with Allah and disobeying parents." He had been reclining but then he sat up and said, "and false witness." Abu Bakra said, "He continued to repeat it until I said, 'Is he never going to stop?'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «أَلاَ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ؟»ثَلاَثًا قَالُوا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ» وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا «أَلاَ وَقَوْلُ الزُّورِ» مَا زَالَ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى قُلْتُ لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ.
