"I asked Aishah about what (recitation) Messenger of Allah would perform Al-Witr with. She said: 'In the first he would recite: Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High, in the second: Say: O you disbelievers!, and in the third: Say: Allah is One" and, Al-Mu'awwidhatain.'"

سَأَلْنَا عَائِشَةَ بِأَىِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يُوتِرُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الأُولَى بِ (سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى ) وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِ(قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ) وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ (قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ) وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ

"In the first rak'ah of witr, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "GLorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" in the second; "Say: O you disbelievers!" and in the third; "Say: He is Allah, (the) One."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الأُولَى مِنَ الْوَتْرِ بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ }

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;" in witr, in the second rak'ah he would recite: "Say: O you disbelievers!"; and in the third "Say: He is Allah, (the) One". And he only said the taslim at the end, and he would say- meaning after the taslim: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy)' three times."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوَتْرِ بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَفِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ بِ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } وَلاَ يُسَلِّمُ إِلاَّ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ وَيَقُولُ يَعْنِي بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاَثًا

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray witr with three rak'ahs. In the first he would recite "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;" in the second: "Say: O You disbelievers!" and in the third: "Say: He is Allah, (the) One.'"

“We asked ‘Aishah what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr. She said: ‘He used to recite: “Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High,” [Al-A’la (87)] in the first Rak’ah, ‘Say: “O disbelievers!’” [Al- Kafirun (109)] in the second Rak’ah, and ‘Say: Allah is One’ in the third and the Mu’awwidhatain (Chapter 113, 114).’”

"In the first rak'ah of witr, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "GLorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" in the second; "Say: O you disbelievers!" and in the third; "Say: He is Allah, (the) One." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1700)

Ibn Abbas used to pray witr with three (units) with (the Surahs): "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High" (Surah Al-A'la), "Say: O You disbelievers" (Surah Al-Kafirun), and "Say: He is Allah, (the) One" (Surah Al-Ikhlas). (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1703)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the two Rak'ahs of Witr after them "Subhanallahi Walhamdulillahi Wa La Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar" (Glorified is Allah, and praised is Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest), and recite in Witr "Qul Huwallahu Ahad" (Say, He is Allah, the One), and say "A'udhu bi Rabbil Falaq" (I seek refuge with the Lord of Daybreak), and say "A'udhu bi Rabbin Nas" (I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind). Sa'id bin Abi Maryam narrated it from Yahya bin Ayyub.

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الَّتِي يُوتِرُ بَعْدَهُمَا بِ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ وقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ» تَابَعَهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ

[AI] The translation is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the Witr prayer with three units. In the first unit, he would recite "Subhanak Allahumma wa bihamdika, tabarakasmuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghairuka" (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. Blessed is Your name and exalted is Your majesty. There is no deity worthy of worship except You). In the second unit, he would recite "Qul ya ayyuhal kafirun" (Say, O disbelievers). And in the third unit, he would recite "Qul huwa Allahu ahad" (Say, He is Allah, the One). Then he would seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak (Al-Falaq) and seek refuge in the Lord of mankind (An-Nas)."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform two units of prayer, followed by Witr prayer wherein he would recite after them "Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High" and "Say: O disbelievers!" And in Witr prayer, he would recite "Say: He is Allah, the One" and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak" and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind."

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ يُوتِرُ بَعْدَهُمَا بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ»

أَنَّ النَّبيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يقرأ في الوتر في الركعة الأولى ب { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى} والثانية ب { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ} والثَّالِثة { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ}

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يقرأ في الوتر في الركعة الأولى ب { سبح اسم ربك الأعلى} وفي الثانية ب { قل يأيها الكفرون} وفي الثالثة ب { قل هو الله أحد}

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ يُقْرَأُ فِي الْأُولَى بِسَبَّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ» وَقَفَهُ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in Witr in the first rakah, "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High," and in the second rakah, "Say, 'O disbelievers!'" and in the third rakah, "Say, 'He is Allah, the One.'" And say, "I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak," and say, "I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind." This is the wording of the hadith of Abu Abdullah, and in the narration of Al-Alawiyy, it is mentioned that Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated from 'Umrah bint 'Abdul Rahman, and the rest of the wording is the same.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the two rak'ahs of the Witr prayer after them: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High" and "Say: O disbelievers" and he used to recite in the Witr prayer: "Say: He is Allah, the One" and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak" and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind" 4853. And Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Husain bin Al-Hasan bin Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Hatim Al-Razi, on the authority of Sa'id bin 'Ufair, on the authority of Yahya bin Ayyub, who mentioned it in a similar manner.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ يُوتِرُ بَعْدَهُمَا بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ 4853 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ثنا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ

“We asked ‘Aishah what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr. "عَنْ عِمرانَ بنِ حُصَين أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلاثٍ يَقْرأُ فِى الأُولَى بِسَبَّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى، وَفِى الثَّانِيةِ بِقُلْ يَأيُّهَا الكَافِرُون، وَفِى الثَّانية بِقُلْ هُوَ الله أَحَدٌ".
