The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray witr with three rak'ahs. In the first he would recite: "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High" in the second: "Say: O you disbelievers!", and in the third: "Say: He is Allah, (the) One". And he would say the Qunut before bowing, and when he finished he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the last time.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلاَثِ رَكَعَاتٍ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الأُولَى بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } وَيَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ قَالَ عِنْدَ فَرَاغِهِ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ يُطِيلُ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ  

"In the first rak'ah of witr, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "GLorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" in the second; "Say: O you disbelievers!" and in the third; "Say: He is Allah, (the) One."

Ubayy bin Ka'b said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times."  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ  

"Shu'bah narrated to us, from Salamah and Zubaid, from Dharr, from Ibn Abdur-Rahman bin Abza from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the taslim, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, raising his voice the third time."

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he had finished praying, he said: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times."

"Abu Dawud narrated to us from Shu'bah, from Qatadah, who said: I heard 'Azarah narrating from Sa'eed bin 'Abdur-Rahman Ibn Abza, from his father That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he had finished praying, he said: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } وَيَقُولُ بَعْدَ مَا يُسَلِّمُ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ  

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;' and "Say: O you disbelievers!'; and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One." And after he had said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the third time, then raising it."  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِ { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى } وَ { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } وَ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } وَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَمُدُّ صَوْتَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ  

"I asked Aishah about what (recitation) Messenger of Allah would perform Al-Witr with. She said: 'In the first he would recite: Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High, in the second: Say: O you disbelievers!, and in the third: Say: Allah is One" and, Al-Mu'awwidhatain.'"  

سَأَلْنَا عَائِشَةَ بِأَىِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يُوتِرُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الأُولَى بِ (سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى ) وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِ(قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ) وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ (قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ) وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ  

“We asked ‘Aishah what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr. She said: ‘He used to recite: “Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High,” [Al-A’la (87)] in the first Rak’ah, ‘Say: “O disbelievers!’” [Al- Kafirun (109)] in the second Rak’ah, and ‘Say: Allah is One’ in the third and the Mu’awwidhatain (Chapter 113, 114).’”

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Witr and recite: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High.’, [Al-A’la (87)] ‘Say: O you disbelievers!” [Al-Kafirun (109)] and ‘Say: Allah is One.”. [Al-Ikhlas (112)] (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1171)

“We asked ‘Aishah what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr. "In the first rak'ah of witr, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "GLorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" in the second; "Say: O you disbelievers!" and in the third; "Say: He is Allah, (the) One." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1700)   

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْأُولَى بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in Witr prayer, in the first Rak'ah, "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High." In the second Rak'ah, he would recite "Say: O disbelievers." In the third Rak'ah, he would recite "Say: He is Allah, the One" and "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak." Lastly, he would recite "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind."  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْأُولَى بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَيَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ قَالَ عِنْدَ فَرَاغِهِ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يُطِيلُ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ فَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ فِيهِ «ويقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ»  

"Shu'bah narrated to us, from Salamah and Zubaid, from Dharr, from Ibn Abdur-Rahman bin Abza from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the taslim, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, raising his voice the third time." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1732)

"Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Shu'ba narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abdur-Rahman bin Abza, that The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the taslim, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating his words the third time." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1741)

Ubayy bin Ka'b said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1729)

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he had finished praying, he said: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1736)  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray witr with three rak'ahs. In the first he would recite: "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High" in the second: "Say: O you disbelievers!", and in the third: "Say: He is Allah, (the) One". And he would say the Qunut before bowing, and when he finished he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the last time. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1699)

"Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Salamah and Zubaid informed me, from Dharr, from Ibn 'Abdur-Rahman bn Abza from Abdur-Rahman, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he said the taslim, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, raising his voice with Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus the third time." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1733)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَلَّمَ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ» وَيَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ بِالثَّالِثَةِ [272] وَافَقَهُ مَنْصُورٌ فَرَوَاهُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ ذَرًّا

And when he said the taslim, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating his words the third time." عَنْ أَبِيهِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَكَانَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ وَفَرَغَ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ» ثَلَاثًا يُطَوِّلُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ  

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite: "Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;" in witr, in the second rak'ah he would recite: "Say: O you disbelievers!"; and in the third "Say: He is Allah, (the) One". And he only said the taslim at the end, and he would say- meaning after the taslim: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy)' three times." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1701)   

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ إِلَّا فِي آخِرِهِنَّ وَيَقُولُ بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ» ثَلَاثًا [273] خَالَفَهُ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ  

"Abu Dawud narrated to us from Shu'bah, from Qatadah, who said: I heard 'Azarah narrating from Sa'eed bin 'Abdur-Rahman Ibn Abza, from his father That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he had finished praying, he said: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1740)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَيَمُدُّهَا فِي الثَّالِثَةِ  

“We asked ‘Aishah what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr. She said: ‘He used to recite: “Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High,” [Al-A’la (87)] in the first Rak’ah, ‘Say: “O disbelievers!’” [Al- Kafirun (109)] in the second Rak’ah, and ‘Say: Allah is One’ in the third and the Mu’awwidhatain (Chapter 113, 114).’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1173)   

سَأَلْنَا عَائِشَةَ بِأِيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْوِتْرِ؟ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the Witr prayer in three units, in which he would recite Surah Al-Ala (Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High), Surah Al-Kafirun (Say: O disbelievers), and Surah Al-Ikhlas (Say: He is Allah, the One). He would also engage in supplication before the Ruku' (bowing) position and say "Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus" (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) twice, quietly the first time and aloud the second time, extending his voice with it.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ يَقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَكَانَ يَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَلَّمَ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ مَرَّتَيْنِ يُسِرُّ بِهِمَا وَالثَّالِثَةُ يَجْهَرُ بِهَا وَيَمُدُّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , used to perform three voluntary units of prayer without reciting the final salutation in them until he completed the first unit by saying "Subhan Rabbi al-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High), the second unit by saying "Qul ya ayyuha al-kafiroon" (Say, O disbelievers), and the third unit by saying "Huwa Allahu ahad" (He is Allah, the One). He would prolong the recitation before bowing down, and when he finished, he would say "Subhan al-Malik al-Quddus" (Glory be to the King, the Holy) twice, and in the third unit, he would raise his voice.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يُسَلِّمُ فِيهِنَّ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ الْأُولَى بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَالثَّانِيَةِ بِقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَالثَّالِثَةِ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَقَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ  

Ubayy bin Ka'b said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Witr: "Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَرْفَعُ بِالثَّالِثَةِ صَوْتَهُ  

"كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِى الْوِتْرِ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى}، وَ {قُلْ يَاأَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ}، وَ {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلاثَ مَرَّات يَرْفَعُ بِالثَّالِثةِ صَوْتَهُ".
