from his father who said: "When the Messenger of Allah would perform the Salat for the funeral he would said: (Allahammaghfir li-hayyina wa mayyittina, wa shahidina wa gha'ibina, wa saghirina wa kabirina, wa dhakarina wa unthana) 'O Allah! Forgive our living and our deceased, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our male and our female.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا قَالَ يَحْيَى وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَزَادَ فِيهِ اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الإِسْلاَمِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الإِيمَانِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَعَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي قَتَادَةَ وَعَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَجَابِرٍ

[Machine] He witnessed the Prophet ﷺ praying for a deceased person, and I heard him saying, "O Allah, forgive our living and our deceased, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our males and our females." Yahya said, and Abu Salamah added to it, "O Allah, whoever among us you cause to live, make him live according to Islam, and whoever among us you cause to die, let him die upon faith."

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا قَالَ يَحْيَى وَزَادَ فِيهِ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ اللهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ

[Machine] "He (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) witnessed a funeral and heard him say, 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our males and our females.' Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to me that these eight words were mentioned, and two additional words were added: 'whomever you keep alive among us, let them live upon Islam, and whomever you cause to die among us, let them die upon faith.'"

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَسَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِهَؤُلَاءِ الثَّمَانِ كَلِمَاتٍ وَزَادَ كَلِمَتَيْنِ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to say the following supplication when praying for the deceased: "O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those who are present and those who are absent, our males and our females, our young and our old." Yahya said that Abu Salama bin Abdul Rahman narrated this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ and added: "O Allah, whoever of us you keep alive, let him live in Islam, and whoever of us you cause to die, let him die in faith."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا اللهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ 6972 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الرَّقِّيُّ ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ مَوْصُولًا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ وَذَكَرَ لَفْظَ الْإِيمَانِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ فِي آخِرِهِ وَزَادَ اللهُمَّ لَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ وَلَا تُضِلَّنَا بَعْدَهُ وَرَوَاهُ عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

[Machine] "Aisha, the mother of the believers, how was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon the deceased?" She said, "He would say, 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our males and our females, our absent and our present, our young and our old. O Allah, whoever among us You keep alive, keep him alive on Islam, and whoever among us You cause to die, let him die on iman (faith).' It was narrated by Hammam ibn Yahya from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir from Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah from his father and from Yahya from Abu Salamah, in addition to Abu Hurairah not being mentioned."

عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؓ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا اللهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ وَرَوَاهُ هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بِزِيَادَتِهِ دُونَ ذِكْرِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

قال صلى رسول الله عليه وسلم على جنازة فقال اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا وذكرنا وانثانا وصغيرنا وكبيرنا وشاهدنا وغائبنا اللهم من أحييته منا فأحيه على الإيمان وَمَنْ توفيته منا فتوفه على الإسلاموَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ مُحَمد بن إبراهيم إلاَّ مُحَمد بن إسحاقوقد رَواه يحيى بن أبي كثر عَن أَبِي سَلَمَة عَن أَبِي هُرَيرة

كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَا فَأَحْيهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ
