Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If somebody keeps a dog, he loses one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday, except if he keeps it for the purpose of agriculture or for the protection of livestock. "

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا يَنْقُصْ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ إِلاَّ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "If someone keeps a dog neither for hunting, nor for guarding livestock, the reward (for his good deeds) will be reduced by two Qirats per day."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبٌ ضَارٍ لِصَيْدٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If someone keeps a dog neither for guarding livestock, nor for hunting, his good deeds will decrease (in reward) by two Qirats a day.'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ ضَارٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

He who keeps a dog other than that meant for watching the herd or for hunting loses every day out of his deeds equal to two qirat.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ ضَارِي نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for watching the herd, lost two qirat of his reward every day.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

Ibn 'Umar reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for watching the herd lost out of his deeds (equal to) two qirat every day.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ ضَارِيَةٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

He who kept a dog other than one meant for watching the herd or for hunting would lose every day two qirat of his good deeds. 'Abdullah and Abu Huraira also said: Or dog meant for watching the field.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ

Whosover amongst the owners of the house keeps a dog other than one meant for watching the herd or for hunting loses two qirat of his deeds every day.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَيُّمَا أَهْلِ دَارٍ اتَّخَذُوا كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ صَائِدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'whoever keeps a dog, two Qirats will be detracted from his reward each day, except a trained hunting dog, or a dog for herding livestock."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ إِلاَّ ضَارِيًا أَوْ صَاحِبَ مَاشِيَةٍ

"The Messenger of Allah said:' whoever keeps a dog except one that is trained for hunting or a dog for herding livestock, two Qirats will be deducted from his reward each day."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبًا ضَارِيًا أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

"Whoever keep s dog except a dog for hunting, farming or herding livestock, on e Qurat will be deducted from his good deeds each day."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

"Whoever keeps a dog that is not a dog used for hunting, herding livestock or guarding land, two qirats will be deducted from his reward each day."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ صَيْدٍ وَلاَ مَاشِيَةٍ وَلاَ أَرْضٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ قِيرَاطَانِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ

"The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding livestock or a dog for hunting, one Qirat will be deducted from his reward each day." 'Abdullah said: "Abu Hurairah said: 'Or a dog for farming.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ

The Prophet ﷺ as saying: If anyone gets a dog, except a sheeping or hunting or a farm dog, a qirat of his reward will be deducted daily.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ انْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever acquires a dog - with the exception of a dog to guard livestock, a hunting dog, or a farm dog - each day a Qirat is deducted from his reward."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ انْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever keeps a dog, one Qirat will be deducted from him (good) deeds every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ إِلاَّ كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ

Malik related to me from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever acquires a dog other than a sheepdog or hunting dog, will have two qirats deducted from the reward of his good actions every day."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلاَّ كَلْبًا ضَارِيًا أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

"Whoever keeps a dog. Except a dog for hunting or herding livestock, two Qirats will be deducted from his reward each day." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4287)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever keeps a dog, one Qirat will be deducted from him (good) deeds every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3204)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ ضَارٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever owns a dog, except for a hunting dog or a herding dog, will have his good deeds decreased by two Qirats every day." Abdul Rahman said: "It will be decreased."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقِصَ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever keeps a dog, one Qirat will be deducted from him (good) deeds every day, except a dog for farming or herding livestock.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3204)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا ضَارِيًا أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever owns a dog, except for a dog of herding or a hunting dog, their reward will be reduced by two Qirat (a unit of measurement) every day. And he used to order the killing of dogs."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْكِلَابِ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the killing of dogs and said, "Whoever keeps a dog, except for a working dog or a dog for herding, will have two qirats deducted from his good deeds every day."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ وَقَالَ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ ضَارِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever acquires a dog - with the exception of a dog to guard livestock, a hunting dog, or a farm dog - each day a Qirat is deducted from his reward." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1490)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ انْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

Ibn 'Umar reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for watching the herd lost out of his deeds (equal to) two qirat every day. (Using translation from Muslim 1574c)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ»

"Whoever keeps a dog. Except a dog for hunting or herding livestock, two Qirats will be deducted from his reward each day." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4287)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ صَيْدٍ وَلَا مَاشِيَةٍ وَلَا حَرْثٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever owns a dog, except for a hunting dog or a herding dog, will have two qirats of his reward deducted every day."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ ضَارِيَةٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ قِيرَاطَانِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبًا صَائِدًا أَوْ كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ قِيرَاطٌ وَقَيْرَاطٌ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ»

"The Messenger of Allah said:' whoever keeps a dog except one that is trained for hunting or a dog for herding livestock, two Qirats will be deducted from his reward each day." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4286)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا إلا كَلْباَ ضاريا أو كلب مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ»

He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for watching the herd, lost two qirat of his reward every day. (Using translation from Muslim 1574b)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'whoever keeps a dog, two Qirats will be detracted from his reward each day, except a trained hunting dog, or a dog for herding livestock." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4284)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ إِلَّا ضَارِيًا أَوْ صَاحِبَ مَاشِيَةٍ»

"Whoever keeps a dog that is not a dog used for hunting, herding livestock or guarding land, two qirats will be deducted from his reward each day." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4290)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ صَيْدٍ وَلَا مَاشِيَةٍ وَلَا أَرْضٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْتَقِصُ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ»

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever acquires a dog, that is not a hunting dog, a herding dog, or a guard dog, then he loses two qirats from his rewards every day."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding or guarding, then every day, two qirats (a measurement of weight) will be deducted from his good deeds." And in another narration, it says, "a dog for guarding."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ ضَارِيًا نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ يَحْيَى ضَارِيَةٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog used for herding, will have two good deeds deducted from his reward each day."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever keeps a dog, except for a dog used for herding livestock or hunting, his rewards will be decreased by one Qirat every day."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ مَاشِيَةٍ أَوْ كَلْبًا ضَارِيًا نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ

"مَنِ اقْتَنى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلبَ قَنصٍ أَوْ كَلبَ مَاشِيَةٍ، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ".
