He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for the protection of the herd would lose two qirat of his deeds every day. Salim said: Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Or the dog meant for watching the field, and he was the owner of the land.

Ibn 'Umar reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying He who kept a dog other than one meant for hunting or for watching the herd lost out of his deeds (equal to) two qirat every day.

Malik related to me from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever acquires a dog other than a sheepdog or hunting dog, will have two qirats deducted from the reward of his good actions every day."  

مالك:٥٤-١٣وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the killing of dogs and said, "Whoever keeps a dog, except for a working dog or a dog for herding, will have two qirats deducted from his good deeds every day."

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, that he said: "Whoever adopts or in other words, owns a dog that is neither harmful nor a dog used for herding, will have two good deeds deducted from his rewards every day." It was said to him: "What about Abu Hurairah's statement regarding a dog used for farming?" He replied, "There is still another good deed deducted."
