A mouse came dragging a wick and dropped before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the mat on which he was sitting with the result that it burned a hole in it about the size of dirham. He (the prophet) said: When you go to sleep, extinguish your lamps, for the devil guides a creature like this to do thus and sets you on fire.

جَاءَتْ فَأْرَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ تَجُرُّ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهَا فَأَلْقَتْهَا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ قَاعِدًا عَلَيْهَا فَأَحْرَقَتْ مِنْهَا مِثْلَ مَوْضِعِ الدِّرْهَمِ فَقَالَ إِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدُلُّ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ عَلَى هَذَا فَتَحْرِقَكُمْ

جَاءَتْ فَأْرَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ تَجُرُّ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَذَهَبَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ تَزْجُرُهَا فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ «دَعِيهَا» فَجَاءَتْ بِهَا فَأَلْقَتْهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الَّتِي كَانَ قَاعِدًا عَلَيْهَا فَأَحْرَقَتْ مِنْهَا مَوْضِعَ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدُلُّ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ عَلَى هَذَا فَيُحْرِقُكُمْ»

جَاءَتْ فَأَرَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ تَجُرُّ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَذَهَبَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ تَزْجُرُهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «دَعِيهَا» قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهَا فَأَلْقَتْهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ عَلَيْهَا قَاعِدًا فَأَحْرَقَتْ مِنْهَا مِثْلَ مَوْضِعِ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ ﷺ «إِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدُلُّ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ عَلَى هَذَا فَتُحْرِقُكُمْ»

Ibn 'Abbas said, "A mouse came and began to drag the wick. The slavegirl moved to stop it. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Leave it.' The mouse brought the wick and put it on the mat where he was sitting. It burned a hole in it the size of a dirham. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When you go to sleep, put out the lights. Shaytan guides things like this and then they burn you.'"

جَاءَتْ فَأْرَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ تَجُرُّ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَذَهَبَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ تَزْجُرُهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ دَعِيهَا فَجَاءَتْ بِهَا فَأَلْقَتْهَا عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ قَاعِدًا عَلَيْهَا فَاحْتَرَقَ مِنْهَا مِثْلُ مَوْضِعِ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدُلُّ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ عَلَى مِثْلِ هَذَا فَتَحْرِقُكُمْ

"إذَا نمْتُمْ فأطفئوا سُرُجَكُمْ، فإنَّ الشَّيطانَ يدُلُّ مَثْلَ هذه على هذا فَيَحرِقكُمْ".
