[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform voluntary prayers after the sun has passed its zenith (in the afternoon) and before the afternoon prayer. It is believed that he said that he would perform voluntary prayers after the sun has passed its zenith and before the afternoon prayer, and in another narration by Abdullah ibn Salih, it was mentioned that he would perform voluntary prayers after the afternoon prayer and before the sun sets.  

البيهقي:١٢٨٠٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُنَفِّلُ الرُّبُعَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ فِي الثُّلُثِ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ إِذَا قَفَلَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ كَانَ يُنَفِّلُ إِذَا فَصَلَ فِي الْغَزْوَةِ الرُّبُعَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ وَيُنَفِّلُ إِذَا قَفَلَ الثُّلُثَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ
