that Zaid bin Khalid sent him to Abi Juhaim to ask him what he had heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a person passing in front of another person who was praying. Abu Juhaim replied, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the person who passes in front of another person in prayer knew the magnitude of his sin he would prefer to wait for 40 (days, months or years) rather than to pass in front of him." Abu An-Nadr said, "I do not remember exactly whether he said 40 days, months or years."  

سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَارِّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي فَقَالَ أَبُو جُهَيْمٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَارُّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي مَاذَا عَلَيْهِ لَكَانَ أَنْ يَقِفَ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرًا لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ أَدْرِي أَقَالَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا أَوْ شَهْرًا أَوْ سَنَةً  

If anyone who passes in front of a man who is praying knew the responsibility he incurs, he would stand still forty (years) rather than to pass in front of him Abu Nadr said: I do not know whether he said forty days or months or years.  

سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَارِّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي قَالَ أَبُو جُهَيْمٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَارُّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي مَاذَا عَلَيْهِ لَكَانَ أَنْ يَقِفَ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرًا لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ أَدْرِي قَالَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا أَوْ شَهْرًا أَوْ سَنَةً  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: "If one who passes in front of a man who is praying knew the responsibility he incurs, he would prefer to stand still for forty. . . rather than pass in front of him. Abu Dawud: Sufyan al-Thawri said: If a man passes proudly in front of me while I am praying, I shall stop him, and if a weak man passes, I shall not stop him.

that Messenger of Allah said: "If the one who passed in front of the person performing Salat knew what he was doing, then for him to stop (and wait for forty) would be better for him than to pass in front of him."  

سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَارِّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي فَقَالَ أَبُو جُهَيْمٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَارُّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ الْمُصَلِّي مَاذَا عَلَيْهِ لَكَانَ أَنْ يَقِفَ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ أَدْرِي قَالَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا أَوْ شَهْرًا أَوْ سَنَةً  

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'n Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah from Busr ibn Said that Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani sent him to Abu Juhaym to ask him what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about passing in front of someone praying. Abu Juhaym said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the one who passes in front of a man praying knew what he was bringing upon himself it would be better for him to stop for forty than to pass in front of him.' " Abu'n-Nadr said, "I do not know whether he said forty days or months or years."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "To stand (in prayer) for forty days, I do not know whether it is better for him than passing between his hands."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَأَنْ يَقُومَ أَرْبَعِينَ لَا أَدْرِي مِنْ يَوْمٍ أَوْ شَهْرٍ أَوْ سَنَةٍ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ  

[Machine] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying about a man passing in front of another man while he is praying. He said, "If one of you knew what he has upon passing in front of a praying person, he would rather stand for forty years, whether it is a year, a day, or a month, it would be better for him than that."  

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّجُلِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ أَحَدُكُمْ مَا لَهُ فِي أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّجُلِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي كَانَ لِأَنْ يَقِفَ أَرْبَعِينَ لَا أَدْرِي عَامًا أَوْ يَوْمًا أَوْ شَهْرًا خَيْرًا لَهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] He heard from the Prophet ﷺ about the one who passes in front of the praying person and said, "Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'It is better for one of you to stand forty (riyals) away from the praying person, than to pass in front of him.'" He said, "So I do not know if he meant a year, a month, or a day."  

سَمِعَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الَّذِي يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلِّي فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَأَنْ يَقُومَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلِّي» قَالَ فَلَا أَدْرِي سَنَةً أَوْ شَهْرًا أَوْ يَوْمًا

[Machine] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a man passing in front of a praying person. He said, "It is better for him to stay in his place for forty [times] than to pass in front of a praying person." He said, "I do not know if he meant forty years, or forty months, or forty days."  

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «لِأَنْ يَقُومَ فِي مَقَامِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلِّي» قَالَ «فَلَا أَدْرِي أَقَالَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ شَهْرًا أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا»  

[Machine] Did the Prophet ﷺ hear in the marab between the hands of the worshiper? So I asked him, and he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'That one of you standing for forty good is better for him than passing in front of the worshiper.' He does not know whether it is forty years or forty months or forty days."  

سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الْمَارِّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلِّي؟ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لِأَنْ يَقُومَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَرْبَعِينَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنَّ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْمُصَلَّى» لَا يَدْرِي أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ شَهْرًا أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا
