'A'isha said, "Some bedouins came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. One of their men said to him, 'Messenger of Allah, do you kiss children? By Allah, we do not kiss them.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Can I put mercy in your hearts after Allah has removed it from them?'"

الأدب المفرد:٩٨وَعَنْ عَبْدَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَاسٌ مِنَ الأعْرَابِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُقَبِّلُونَ الصِّبْيَانَ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا نُقَبِّلُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوَ أَمْلِكُ إِنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ نَزَعَ مِنْ قَلْبِكَ الرَّحْمَةَ؟

muslim:2317Abū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah And ʾAbū Kurayb > Abū Usāmah And Ibn Numayr > Hishām from his father > ʿĀʾishah

Some Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Do you kiss your children?” He said, “Yes.” They said, “But by Allah, we do not kiss (ours).” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “What can I do if Allah has removed mercy from you?”

Ibn Numayr said: “(removed) mercy from your heart.”

مسلم:٢٣١٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قَدِمَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الأَعْرَابِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: أَتُقَبِّلُونَ صِبْيَانَكُمْ؟ فَقَالُوا: نَعَمْ. فَقَالُوا: لَكِنَّا وَاللَّهِ مَا نُقَبِّلُ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: *«وَأَمْلِكُ إِنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ نَزَعَ مِنْكُمُ الرَّحْمَةَ؟».

وَقَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ «مِنْ قَلْبِكَ الرَّحْمَةَ».
