Thawban reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The best dinar a man spends is the dinar which he spends on his family, the dinar which he spends on his companions in the Way of Allah, and the dinar which he spends on his riding animal in the Way of Allah."  

الأدب المفرد:٧٤٨حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ دِينَارٍ أَنْفَقَهُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ وَدِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَدِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ
