“I heard Ibn Umar say: ‘The Messenger of Allah said, “Indeed the least of the people of Paradise in rank, is the one who shall look at his gardens, his wives, his servants, and his beds from the distance of a thousand years, and the noblest of them with Allah is the one who shall look at His Face morning and night.” Then the Messenger of Allah recited: Some faces on that day shall be radiant. They shall be looked at their Lord.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "I know the person who will be the last to come out of the (Hell) Fire, and the last to enter Paradise. He will be a man who will come out of the (Hell) Fire crawling, and Allah will say to him, 'Go and enter Paradise.' He will go to it, but he will imagine that it had been filled, and then he will return and say, 'O Lord, I have found it full.' Allah will say, 'Go and enter Paradise, and you will have what equals the world and ten times as much (or, you will have as much as ten times the like of the world).' On that, the man will say, 'Do you mock at me (or laugh at me) though You are the King?" I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ (while saying that) smiling that his premolar teeth became visible. It is said that will be the lowest in degree amongst the people of Paradise.

I know the last of the inhabitants of Fire to be taken out therefrom, and the last of the inhabitants of Paradise to enter it. A man will come out of the Fire crawling. Then Allah, the Blessed and Exalted will say to him: Go and enter Paradise. So he would come to it and it would appear to him as if it were full. He would go back and say: O my Lord! I found it full. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, would say to him: Go and enter Paradise. He would come and perceive as if it were full. He would return and say: O my Lord! I found it full. Allah would say to him: Go and enter Paradise, for there is for you the like of the world and ten times like it, or for you is ten times the like of this world. He (the narrator) said. He (that man) would say: Art Thou making a fun of me? or Art Thou laughing at me. though Thou art the King? He (the narrator) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah laugh till his front teeth were visible. And it was said: That would be the lowest rank among the inhabitants of Paradise.

I recognise the last of the inhabitants of Fire to be taken out thereof. A man will come out of it crawling. It will be said to him: Go and enter Paradise. He (the Holy Prophet) said: He would go there to enter Paradise, but would find persons who have already occupied all its apartments. It would be said to him: Do you recall the time when you were in it (in the Hell)? He would say: Yes. It would be said to him: Express any desire. And he would express the desire. It would be said to him: For thee is that which thou desireth and ten times the world (worldly resources). Verily the Messenger of Allah said: The last to enter Paradise would be a man who would walk once and stumble once and be burnt by the Fire once. Then when he gets beyond it, he will turn to it and say: Blessed is He Who has saved me from thee. Allah has given me something He has not given to any one of those in earlier or later times. Then a tree would be raised up for him and he will say: O my Lord I bring me near this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Allah, the Exalted and Great, would say: O son of Adam, if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else. He would say: No. my Lord. And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because He sees what he cannot help desiring; so He would bring him near it, and he would take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Afterwards a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised up before him and he would say: O my Lord! bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask Thee for anything else. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam, if I bring you near it you may ask me for something else. He would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord will excuse him because He would see something he cannot help desiring. So He would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water. Then a tree would be raised up for him at the gate of the Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say: O my Lord! bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask Thee for anything else. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam! did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me anything else? He would say: Yes, my Lord, but I shall not ask Thee for anything else. His Lord would excuse him for He sees something the temptation of which he could not resist. He (Allah) would bring him near to it, and when He would bring him near it he would hear the voices of the inhabitants of the Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! admit me to it. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam, what will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the whole world and a like one along with it? He will say: O my Lord! art Thou mocking at me, though Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Ibn Mas'ud laughed and asked (the hearers): Why don't you ask me what I am laughing at. They (then) said: Why do you laugh? He said: It is in this way that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed. They (the companions of the Holy Prophet) asked: Why do you laugh. Messenger of Allah? He said: On account of the laugh of the Lord of the universe, when he ldesirer of Paradise) sai Thou mocking at me though Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He would say: I am not mocking at you, but I have power to do whatever I will.

Amongst the inhabitants of Paradise the lowest in rank will be the person whose face Allah would turn away from the Fire towards the Paradise, and make a shady tree appear before him. He would say: O my Lord! direct my steps to this tree so that I (should enjoy) its shade; and the rest of the hadith is like that narrated by Ibn Mas'ud, but he did not mention:" He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam! what will bring an end to your making requests to Me" to the end of the tradition. In it, he added: Allah will remind him: Ask such and such, and when his expectations would be realised, Allah would say: That is for you, and ten times as much. He said that he would then enter his house and his two wives with large and dark eyes would enter after him. They will say: Praise be to Allah, Who has created you for us and us for you. He will say: No one has been given the like of what I have been given.

Moses asked his Lord: Who amongst the inhabitants of Paradise is the lowest to rank? He (Allah) said: The person who would be admitted into Paradise last of all among those deserving of Paradise who are admitted to it. I would be said to him: Enter Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! how (should I enter) while the people have settled in their apartments and taken the shares (portions)? It would be said to him: Would you be pleased if there be for you like the kingdom of a king amongst the kings of the world? He would say: I am pleased my Lord. He (Allah) would say: For you is that, and like that, and like that, and like that, and that. He would say at the fifth (point): I am well pleased. My Lord. He (Allah) would say: It is for you and, ten times like it, and for you is what your self desires and your eye enjoys. He would say: I am well pleased, my Lord. He (Moses) said: (Which is) the highest of their (inhabitants of Paradise) ranks? He (Allah) said: They are those whom I choose. I establish their honour with My own hand and then set a seal over it (and they would be blessed with Bounties) which no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived: and this is sub- stantiated by the Book of Allah, Exalted and Great:" So no soul knows what delight of the eye is hidden for them; a reward for what they did" (xxxii. 17).

I know the last of the inhabitants of Paradise to enter it and the last of the inhabitants of Hell to come out of it. He is a man who would be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said: Present his minor sins to him, and withhold from him his serious sins. Then the minor sins would be placed before him, and it would be said: On such and such a day you did so and so and on such and such a day you did so and so. He would say: Yes. It will not be possible for him to deny, while he would be afraid lest serious sins should be presented before him. It would be said to him: In place of every evil deed you will have a good deed. He will say: My Lord! I have done things I do not see here. I indeed saw the Messenger of Allah laugh till his front teeth were exposed.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed the least of the people of Paradise in rank is the one who shall look at his gardens, his wives, his bounties, his servants and his beds for the distance of a thousand years, and the noblest of them with Allah is the one who shall look at His Face morning and night." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: Some faces on that day shall be radiant. They shall be looking at their Lord.

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "Verily, the last person to enter Jannah will be a man walking on the Sirat (bridge to Paradise). He will stumble once and walk once, and the fire will scorch him once. Once he has crossed the Sirat, he will turn towards it and say, 'Blessed is the One who saved me from you. Indeed, Allah has given me what He has not given to anyone from the earlier or later nations.' He will then be shown a tree and he will look at it and say, 'O Lord, get me closer to this tree so that I may get shade from its shade and drink from its water.' Allah will say, 'O My servant, didn't you make a promise not to demand anything other than this tree?' He will say, 'Yes, O Lord,' and he will pledge to Allah not to ask for anything else. However, Allah knows that he will eventually ask for more as he cannot bear the thought of being deprived of it. So, Allah will bring him closer to it and a tree better than it will be elevated for him. He will say, 'O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I may take shade under its shade and drink from its water.' Allah will say, 'O My servant, didn't you make a promise not to demand anything other than this tree?' He will say, 'Yes, O Lord,' and he will pledge to Allah not to ask for anything else. Yet, Allah knows that he will eventually ask for more as he cannot bear the thought of being deprived of it. So, Allah will bring him closer to it and a tree will be elevated near the gate of Jannah, it will be better than the previous ones. So, Allah will bring him closer to it and he will hear the voices of the dwellers of Jannah. He will say, 'O Lord, enter me into Jannah.' Allah will say, 'What can satisfy you, O My servant? Will you be pleased if I give you the entire world and its equivalent along with it?' He will say, 'Are you mocking me, O Lord, while You are the Lord of Honor?' Allah will laugh until His molars will become visible. Then, Allah's Messenger ﷺ recited the verse: 'Ask Me and I will grant you [your request].'" Abdullah said, 'Shouldn't you ask me why I laughed?' They said, 'Why did you laugh, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'I laughed at the laugh of the Lord when He said to His servant, 'Are you mocking Me, O My servant, while You are the Lord of Honor?' [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, the lowest-ranked person in Jannah is a man who wishes upon Allah (ﷻ) and is granted what he desires. It is said to him, 'You have this and its equal along with it, except that he is taught and it is said to him, 'You have this and its equal along with it.' Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'It is said to him, 'You have this and ten times its like.'"

“I know the last of the people of Hell who will be brought forth from it, and the last of the people of Paradise to be admitted to Paradise. (It is) a man who will emerge from Hell crawling, and it will be said to him: ‘Go and enter Paradise.’ He will come to it and it will be made to appear to him as if it is full.’ Allah will say: ‘Go and enter Paradise.’ He will come to it and it will appear to him as if it is full. So he will say: ‘O Lord, I found it full.’ Allah will say: ‘Go and enter Paradise.’ He will come to it and it will be made to appear to him as if it is full. So he will say: ‘O Lord, I found it full.’ Allah will say: ‘Go and enter Paradise, for you will have the like of the world and ten times more, or you will have ten times the like of the world.’ He will say: ‘Are You mocking me, or are You laughing at me, when You are the Sovereign?’” He said: "And I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiling so broadly that his molar teeth could be seen." And he used to say: "This is the lowest of the people of Paradise in status." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4339)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, the last two people to come out of the Fire, Allah will say to one of them, 'O son of Adam, what have you prepared for this Day? Have you done any good deeds?' He will say, 'No, my Lord.' So he will be ordered to be taken to the Fire, for he will be one of the worst inhabitants of the Fire. Then Allah will say to the other person, 'O son of Adam, what have you prepared for this Day? Have you done any good deeds or have you hoped for my mercy?' He will say, 'No, O Lord, except that I hoped for Your mercy.' So a tree will be raised for him, and he will say, 'O Lord, admit me under the shade of this tree, and let me eat from its fruits and drink from its water.' And he will be promised that he will not ask for anything else, but he will be shaded by the tree and eat from its fruits and drink from its water. Then another tree, better than the first, will be raised for him, and he will say, 'O Lord, admit me under the shade of this tree, and let me eat from its fruits and drink from its water.' And he will be promised that he will not ask for anything else, but he will be shaded by the tree and eat from its fruits and drink from its water. Then a tree will be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, and it will be better than the previous two and more abundant in water. He will say, 'O Lord, admit me under the shade of this tree.' So he will be brought near to it and be shaded by it. He will then hear the voices of the people of Paradise, and he will not be able to resist and say, 'O Lord, enter me into Paradise.' Allah will say, 'Ask and you shall be granted.' So he will ask and wish for the equivalent of three days of the world's life, and Allah will teach him what he had no knowledge of before. Then when he finishes his wishes and asks, Allah will say, 'For you is what you have asked for and the like of it.' Abu Sa'id said: 'The same was narrated by his companion, and Abu Hurairah said: 'And ten times more like it was narrated by his companion.' One of them said to his companion, 'Tell me what you heard, and I will tell you what I heard.'"

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri and Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The last person to leave the Hellfire will be a man who will be told by Allah, 'O son of Adam, what did you prepare for this day? Did you do any good or did you hope for My mercy?' He will reply, 'No, O Lord.' So he will be commanded to be taken to the Hellfire, and he will be the most deserving of its inhabitants. Then Allah will say to the other person, 'O son of Adam, what did you prepare for this day? Did you do any good or did you hope for My mercy?' He will reply, 'Yes, O Lord. I sincerely hoped that You would not return me to the Hellfire ever again.' So a tree will be raised for him, and he will say, 'O Lord, enable me to sit in its shade, eat from its fruits, and drink from its water.' He will be promised not to be asked for anything else, and he will be brought closer to it. Then another tree, better than the first one, will be raised for him, and he will have the same request. Finally, a tree will be raised at the gate of Paradise, which is the best of all, and a stream of abundant water will flow from it. He will make the same request as before, and he will hear the voices of the inhabitants of Paradise. He will not be able to contain himself and he will say, 'O Lord, admit me into Paradise.' Allah the Exalted and Glorious will say, 'Ask Me and I shall grant you your request.' So the man will ask and ask until he asks for an amount equivalent to the duration of three days in this worldly life. He will say, 'You will have what you asked for and ten times more with it.' Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri said: "One of them said to his companion: 'Relate to me what you have heard.' And the companion likewise asked his companion to relate to him what he had heard."

(Using translation from Muslim 187)

So, he says, 'O Lord, bring me close to this tree so that I may be in its shade.' So Allah says, 'Would you perhaps ask Me something other than that?' He says, 'No, by Your honor, I will not ask You anything other than that.' So Allah brings him near to it and sets for him another tree with shade and fruit. He says, 'O Lord, bring me near to this tree so that I may be in its shade and eat from its fruit.' So Allah says to him, 'Would you perhaps ask Me something other than that?' He says, 'No, by Your honor, I will not ask You anything other than that.' So Allah brings him near to it and sets for him another tree with shade, fruit, and water. He says, 'O Lord, bring me to the gate of Paradise so that I may be beneath its branches and look at its residents.' So Allah brings him near to it, and he sees the people of Paradise and what is in it. He says, 'O Lord, admit me into Paradise!' He says, 'So Allah admits him into Paradise.' He says, 'When he enters Paradise, he says, 'Is all this for me?' Allah says to him, 'This is for you and ten times as much.' He says, 'Then he enters Paradise, and his two wives from the beautiful-eyed [maidens] of Paradise enter upon him. They say to him, 'Praise be to Allah, who has brought you to us and us to you.' He says, 'No one is given the likes of what I have been given.' And the people who receive the least punishment in Hell will be the one wearing two sandals of fire, because of which his brain will boil from the heat."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Moses asked his Lord, 'Which people of Paradise will have the lowest rank?' He said, 'A man who will come after all the people of Paradise have entered, and it will be said to him, "Enter Paradise," and he will say, "How can I enter Paradise when the people have taken their places and received their rewards?" He will be told, "Would you be content if you were given a kingdom equal to the kingdoms of the world?" He will say, "I am content, my Lord." He will be told, "You will have that and ten times as much." He will say, "I am content, my Lord." He will be told, "You will have that and whatever your soul desires and your eye finds delight in." Moses asked his Lord, 'Which people of Paradise will have the highest rank?' He said, 'I will tell you about those whom I have created with My own hand and sealed with My own seal. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined their reward.' The proof of that is in the Book of Allah the Exalted, where He says, "No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do." (Quran 32:17)"

Then, Allah will bring him close to it, and he will take shelter in its shade and drink from its water. Then, another tree will be raised for him, which is even better than the first. He will say, 'O Lord, draw me closer to it so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink from its water.’ Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, if I give you that, you will ask Me for something else.’ But the man will swear that he will not ask for anything else, even though he knows that he will. Then, a third tree will be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, which is even better than the first two. He will say, 'O Lord, draw me closer to it so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink from its water.’ Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, if I give you that, you will ask Me for something else.’ But the man will swear that he will not ask for anything else, even though he knows that he will. Then, Allah will bring him close to it, and he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise. He will say, 'O Lord, admit me to Paradise.’ Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, what will make you content with Me and My favor? Would it please you if I give you the entire world and as much again?’ The man will reply, 'Are You making fun of me while You are the Lord of all creation?’ I said, 'Would you not like Me to give you that and as much again?’ The man will say, 'O Lord, I am not making fun of You, but I am asking You for something else.’ The Prophet ﷺ then smiled so broadly that his molars could be seen and he said, 'Do you not wonder at what made me laugh? They asked, 'O Prophet of Allah! What made you laugh?’ He said, 'I laughed because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the same as I have said (i.e., the man said the same as I said when he entered Paradise).' "

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The last person to enter Paradise will walk on the bridge and will walk one step and then kneel. The fire will surround him, and when he surpasses it, he will turn towards it and say, 'Blessed is He who saved me from you. He has given me something that He has not given to anyone among the earlier and later people.' A tree will be raised for him, and he will say, 'O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I may take shade under its shade and drink from its water.' Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, did you not make a covenant with Me that you would not ask Me for anything other than this?' He will say, 'Yes, my Lord, but I will not ask You for anything other than this.' Allah will excuse him because He will see something that he cannot bear, and he will say, 'O Lord, bring me closer to it so that I may take shade under its shade and drink from its water.' Then a tree will be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, which is better than the first one. He will say, 'O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I may take shade under its shade and drink from its water.' Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, did you not make a covenant with Me that you would not ask Me for anything other than this?' He will say, 'Yes, my Lord, but I will not ask You for anything other than this.' Allah will excuse him because He will see something that he cannot bear, and He will bring him closer to it. He will then hear the voices of the people of Paradise, and he will say, 'O Lord, admit me to it.' Allah will say, 'O son of Adam, would it please you if I were to give you the entire world and a similar world along with it?' He will say, 'Are You making fun of me, though You are the Lord of all the worlds?' The Messenger of Allah laughed and then said, 'Do you not ask me why I laughed?' The person asked, 'Why did you laugh, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'I laughed at the laughter of the Lord of the worlds when He said, 'Do you make fun of Me, though You are the Lord of all the worlds?' He said, 'No, I am not making fun of you, but I can do whatever I will.'"

When his soul leaves his body, he will look at the tree of Paradise and say, 'O Lord, let me enter Paradise.' But there will be no deeds for him to rise with, so he will depart, crawling until he reaches them. [Machine] Yes, he is a man who comes after people have settled in their homes and taken their rest. It is said to him, "Enter Paradise," and he says, "O Lord, how can I enter it when people have settled in their homes and taken their rest?" He said, "Are you not pleased that you have what a king has among the kings of the world?" He said, "I am pleased, my Lord." He said, "You have that and the like of that and the like of that and Sufyan (a narrator) interlocked his fingers five times and he said, 'I am pleased, my Lord.'" He said, "You have that and what your soul desires and your eyes find delight in." He said, "I am pleased, my Lord." Moses said, "O Lord, inform me about the highest rank of the people of Paradise." He said, "Those are the ones you wished for and I will inform you about them. I planted their honor with my own hands and sealed it with my own seal and no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and it has not occurred to human heart." And the confirmation of that is the statement of Allah, "No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do" (Quran 32:17).

(Using translation from Muslim 187)
