7. Chapter of Ḥā (Male) (21/21)
[Machine] Translation: Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, also known as Abu Muhammad, was born. His birth, his qualities, and his death are described.
[Machine] The people of the Ansar went to the governor with a difficult matter. We approached him with men from Quraysh and others, and they spoke to him and mentioned the testament of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding us. He mentioned the difficulty of the matter, so the people excused him and left. But Ibn Abbas persisted and said to him, "By Allah, you will not find a way to fulfill our need." So we left until we entered the mosque, and there were people talking. Hassaan exclaimed, "I laughed as I heard them, for indeed he, by Allah, was the most deserving of it. By Allah, it is the inheritance of Ahmad's refinement of lineage and the eradication of similarities to his character." The people said, "Beautifully said, O Hassaan." And then Ibn Abbas said, "You were truthful." So Hassaan began to praise Ibn Abbas.

[Machine] His mother came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have come to you to ask you to pray for the benefit and abundance of my son. May Allah bless him and make him abundant and good."
[Machine] I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Ta'if when he saw some of his companions with red-dyed beards and others with powdered beards. He said, "Welcome to those with red beards and those with powdered beards."
[Machine] So his wife said, "Now you are in debt, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him. He said, 'Who is the companion of the inherited property?' They said, 'His brother Abu Al-Yasar Ka'b ibn 'Amr.' The Prophet ﷺ called him and said, 'Do not sell it, but set her free. And if you hear of a sensitive issue, come to me and I will compensate you.' They did as they disagreed among themselves after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said, 'The mother of the child is a slave. If it wasn't for that, the Prophet ﷺ wouldn't have compensated them.' Some of them said, 'She is a free woman whom the Prophet ﷺ set free.'"
[Machine] "I am its grinder, and my fruit is the sweetest. Hubab, son of Mundhir."
[Machine] He began to carry a sack of dates on his back, equivalent to two sa' (a measurement). He would take one sa' to his family to benefit from it, and he would bring the other sa' closer to Allah. He brought it to the Messenger of Allah, who informed him to distribute it in charity. The hypocrites mocked him, saying that it would have been better for him to come closer to Allah with just one sa' of dates. So Allah revealed the verse from the Qur'an: "Those who defame such of the believers who give charity voluntarily" until the end of the two verses.
[Machine] It is said that he was called "Humam" in the time of ignorance, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited his uncle and talked to him about his son. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Accept your son as much as you can." So he went and took his son and brought him to the Prophet ﷺ , and the bondman of the boy came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ presented two boys to him. He said, "Take one of them and leave the man his son." So he took one of the boys and left his son for him.
[Machine] His grandfather came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him, "What is your name?" He replied, "Hazn." His grandfather wanted to change his name, so he said, "I would not change a name that my father gave me." His grandfather said, "Sa'id." That grief remained in him until the present hour.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used a man for a mission, and when he returned to him, he asked him, "How did you find the authority (leadership)?" The man replied, "I was like some people, whenever I rode, they rode, and whenever I stopped, they stopped." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the companion of the ruler is at the door of a collapse, except for those whom Allah protects." The man said, "By Allah, I will not work for you or anyone else forever." The Prophet ﷺ laughed until his molar teeth showed.
Martyrdom of Ḥarām b. Milḥān at the incident Biʾr Maʿūnah and his crying out of joy when he was struck by a spear
Some people from the tribe of Qays came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him to send with them people who can teach them the Quran. So he sent with them seventy men from the Ansar, among them Harām ibn Milhān, the uncle of Anas. However, they betrayed them and killed them.
Harām was the first to be stabbed with a spear, and blood was flowing from him. He grabbed it, raised it towards the sky, and said, "I have won by the Lord of the Kāʿbah." Then the Quran was revealed regarding them, "Convey to our people that we have met our Lord, and He was pleased with us and made us pleased."
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ take a man, put him in his room, wipe his head, and pray for him.
[Machine] "I used to hold the reins of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ camel during the middle days of Tashriq in the Farewell Pilgrimage, and he mentioned the hadith."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to place a pulpit for Hassaan ibn Thabit in the mosque where he would recite poetry on it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, strengthen him with the Holy Spirit in defense of Your Prophet."
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ built a pulpit for Hassan to recite the mockery of the polytheists.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mock the Quraysh, for it troubles them more than the raising of the nobility." So he sent to Ibn Rawaha and said, "Mock them." He mocked them, but they were not pleased. So he sent to Ka'b ibn Malik, then he sent to Hassan ibn Thabit. When Hassan entered, he said, "It is time for you to send to this lion striking with his tail." Then he moved his tongue and began to recite poetry. He said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will make them flee, tearing the flesh." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not hurry, for Abu Bakr is more knowledgeable of the lineage of the Quraysh than anyone, and I have a lineage among them until your lineage is purified." So Hassan went to him and then returned and said, "O Messenger of Allah, your lineage is pure to me. By the One who sent you with the truth, I will answer them like separating a hair from dough." Aisha said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to Hassan, 'The Holy Spirit continues to support you as long as you defend Allah and His Messenger.'" She said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Hassan mocked them and they were healed and felt pain.'" Hassan said.

[Machine] Zubayr ibn al-Awwam passed by a gathering of the Prophet's companions, and Hassan ibn Thabit was reciting his poetry to them while they were not paying much attention. Zubayr joined them and said, "Why do I see you distracted by anything other than what you hear from the poetry of Ibn Furai'ah? The Messenger of Allah used to listen to it attentively and reward him generously, without being preoccupied by anything else." Then, Hassan said...

[Machine] Hassan chanted in the mosque, so Umar passed by him and noticed him. Umar asked, "In the mosque? In the mosque?" Hassan replied, "By Allah, I have chanted in it someone who is better than you, and I feared that he would throw him out by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So Umar gave him permission and left him.

[Machine] I used to recite in it, "Who is better than you, O Umar" out of fear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say it. Then Hassan came to Abu Huraira and said, "I ask you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Hassan, answer on behalf of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, strengthen him with the Holy Spirit'?" He said, "Yes."

The Prophet ﷺ said to Hassan, "Lampoon them (i.e. the pagans) and Gabriel is with you." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3213)

He said, "O Messenger of Allah, give allegiance to this person for migration." He asked, "And who is this?" He said, "My cousin, Hauf bin Yazeed or Yazeed bin Hauf." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I do not give allegiance to you, for people are migrating to you while you are not migrating to them."
[Machine] When he embraced Islam, he came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited to him.

[Machine] Narrated by Habib ibn Khalid, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left Makkah migrating to Madinah, he and Abu Bakr, along with the slave of Abu Bakr, Amir ibn Fuhayrah, and their guide, al-Laithi Abdullah ibn al-Urayqit, passed by the tent of Umm Ma'bad al-Khuza'iyah. Umm Ma'bad had a bare, thin sheep tied in the courtyard of her tent. She would milk it and feed it. They asked her for some meat and dates to purchase from her, but she did not have anything for them. The people were stingy and miserly. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a sheep inside the tent and asked Umm Ma'bad, "What is this sheep, Umm Ma'bad?" She replied that it was weak and could not produce any milk. The Prophet ﷺ asked her for permission to milk it, to which she agreed. The Prophet ﷺ then wiped his hand over its udder, mentioned the name of Allah, and supplicated for it. The sheep produced an abundance of milk, and they all drank from it until they were satisfied. The Prophet ﷺ then urinated into a large container, which he used to water the sheep, and they all drank from it. They repeated this process until the container was filled. Then, he left it there and they departed. Soon after, Umm Ma'bad's husband, Abu Ma'bad, arrived with a group of weak and emaciated goats, barely able to stand on their feet. When Abu Ma'bad saw the milk, he was surprised and asked Umm Ma'bad where she got it from, as the sheep was barren and they had no milking animals at home. She replied, "No, by Allah, except that a blessed man passed by us and did this and that." She described the Prophet ﷺ to Abu Ma'bad, who said, "By Allah, he is the same person from Quraysh who has been mentioned to us (with signs) in Makkah. I have desired to accompany him, and I will indeed do so if I find a way to him." The next morning, a voice was heard in Makkah, but nobody knew who it belonged to. It was heard saying, "I order you to listen to his speech, and if he commands you to do something, hasten to fulfill his command. He is a man, but his word is protected and guarded. He is not a liar or a denier." Abu Ma'bad said, "By Allah, he is surely the same man from Quraysh, and I have decided to accompany him. I will indeed do so if I find a way to him."

[Machine] "It was mentioned that there were seventy Ansar (people of Madinah) who, when night fell, would seek refuge with a teacher in the city where they would spend the night studying the Quran. In the morning, those who had strength would gather firewood and fetch water, and those who had provisions would slaughter a sheep to prepare breakfast. It would then be hung outside the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When Khubayb was captured, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent them news, and among them was Khali bin Haram. They came alive from the Banu Sulaym tribe. Haram said to their leader, 'Shouldn't I inform them that we are not with them, so that they may leave us alone?' He agreed and went to them and one of them approached him with a spear, which he used and stabbed him with. When Haram found the spear tip in his chest, he said, 'Allahu Akbar! I have succeeded, and by the Lord of the Kaaba!' So they delayed in pursuing them, and none of them remained as a scout. I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ find a group as he did with them. Anas said, 'Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Fajr, he raised his hands and invoked Allah's curse upon them.' After that, Abu Talhah came to me and said, 'Do you have any news about the killer of Haram?' I replied, 'What has Allah done to him?' He said, 'Don't do it, for he has embraced Islam.'"

[Machine] It is said that Humamah, from the companions of Muhammad ﷺ , went out as a warrior to Isfahan during the caliphate of Umar. Isfahan was conquered, and Humamah said, "O Allah, indeed there is someone who claims to love You, so if he is truthful, then bestow upon him the reward of sincerity. But if he is lying, then bestow upon him what he deserves, and he hated us." So, he was struck by a stomach ailment and died in Isfahan. Abu Musa said, "O people, by Allah, we have never heard from your Prophet ﷺ anything that we have heard, and our knowledge has only reached that Humamah is a martyr."
