[Machine] I entered the mosque of Al-Madina, and a man came and performed two units of prayer. He excelled in them with a mark of humility. A man said, "Whoever wishes to see a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at this man." So, I followed him and informed him of what was said. He said, "SubhanAllah! It is not appropriate for anyone to say what he does not know. Shall I inform you why? I had a dream, and I narrated it to the Prophet ﷺ. I saw as if I were in a garden, and I mentioned its width, beauty, and greenery. In the middle of it stood a pillar made of iron, with its bottom on the ground and its top in the sky. At its head was a rope. He (the Prophet) said to me, 'Climb up.' I said, 'I cannot.' Then, a pulpit approached me, and he said, 'Hold onto my clothes.' So, I held onto it, and I woke up, and indeed it was in my hands. I narrated the dream to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'The garden represents Islam, the pillar is the pillar of Islam, and the rope is the firmest bond, so you are upon Islam.' Therefore, behold! It is Abdullah Ibn Salam."

[Machine] Shall I tell you a story from the book of Allah? So, he mentioned a group of people who will be coming out of the fire and Ibrahim will say, "O Lord, You have burned my children, so let them come out of it."

[Machine] We find the description of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, as a witness, bearer of glad tidings, warner, and a protector for the unlettered people. You are His servant and His Messenger. He named you as the one who relies on Allah. You are not rude, nor harsh, nor do you shout in the markets. You do not respond to evil with its equal, but instead you forgive, overlook, and pardon. I will not take away your life until I establish the crooked religion by making them bear witness that there is no god but Allah. Through this, the blind will see, the deaf will hear, and the sealed hearts will be opened.” Atta bin Yasar said, and Abu Waqid Al-Laithi informed me, that he heard Ka'b Al-Ahbar say the same thing that Ibn Salam said.

[Machine] He said, "We were studying among ourselves, and we said, 'Which of us will go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him which deeds are most beloved to Allah?' So, one of us got up and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a man to us. Some of us began pointing to others, and he recited to us, 'Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah' (Quran 57:1) from its beginning to its end." Hilal said, "He then recited it to us from its beginning to its end." Ata' bin Yasar said, "He then recited it to us from its beginning to its end." Al-Awza'i said, "Yahya then recited it to us from its beginning to its end."

«مَا بَيْنَ عَيْرٍ وَأَحَدٍ حَرَامٌ حَرَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا كُنْتُ لِأَقْطَعَ مِنْهُ شَجَرًا وَلَا أَصِيدُ طَيْرًا»

[Machine] He (al-Hajjaj) said to Abdullah bin Salam, "Your father, do you know a narration that your father, Abdullah bin Salam, narrated from your grandfather, Abdulah bin Salam, from his father, Abdullah bin Salam?" He (Abdullah bin Salam) said, "And what narration may Allah have mercy upon you?" (meaning what specific narration are you referring to). He (al-Hajjaj) said, "The narration of the Egyptians when they came to Uthman." He (Abdullah bin Salam) said, "I knew that narration already." So, Abdullah bin Salam went towards Uthman while he was confined. He (Abdullah) greeted him and Uthman said, "Peace be upon you, O Amir al-Mu'minin." Abdullah bin Salam said, "And upon you be peace. What brings you, O Abdullah bin Salam?" Abdullah bin Salam said, "I came to confirm (the truth) until I bear witness or Allah opens it (the truth) for you. And I do not know about these people except that they are your enemies. If they kill you, then that is good for you and evil for them." Uthman said to him, "I ask you, by the right that I have upon you, what did you intend when you went to them? Did Allah distance you with goodness or confront you with evil?" Abdullah bin Salam heard and obeyed and went to them. When they saw him, they gathered and thought that he had come with some news that favored their desires. So, he stood up and praised Allah and commended him. Then he said, "As for what follows, indeed, Allah sent Muhammad ﷺ as a bearer of glad tidings and as a warner who gives glad tidings of Paradise to those who obey him and warns of the Fire for those who disobey him. And he made clear to his followers the whole religion, even if the polytheists detest it. Then, Allah chose the best dwelling for him, and he chose the city (of Madinah) and made it the abode of emigration and the abode of faith. And by Allah, the angels have been surrounding this city since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ first arrived, and by Allah, the sword of Allah has remained unsheathed against you since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ first arrived until this day." Then he said, "Indeed, Allah sent Muhammad with the truth, so whoever follows him is guided by Allah's guidance, and whoever goes astray after clear proofs and evidence, then he has indeed strayed and deviated. And know that no prophet was killed, except that seventy thousand fighters were also killed along with him. And no caliph was ever killed, except that thirty-five thousand fighters were also killed along with him. So, do not hasten to kill this noble Sheikh, for by Allah, none of you will kill him except that he will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection with a severed and disabled hand. Know that a parent has no rightful claim over a child except like the right that this Sheikh has over you." He (Abdullah bin Salam) said, "So, they stood up and said, 'The Jews are lying! The Jews are lying!' He (Abdullah bin Salam) said, 'No, by Allah, you are the liars, and I am not from the Jews. Indeed, I am a Muslim.' Allah knows best about it, as does His Messenger and the believers. And it was revealed in the Qur'an concerning me the verse: 'Say: Sufficient is Allah as witness between me and you, and [also] between the knowledge of the Scripture [within me] and you.' And Allah also revealed the other verse: 'Say, "Have you considered: if it is from Allah and you disbelieved in it, and a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something like it and believed while you were arrogant...?'" [Machine] I arrived in the city and sat with a sheikha in the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ . Then, an old man leaned on a staff came and some people said to him, "This is a man from the people of Paradise." He stood behind a pillar and prayed two units of prayer. I approached him and said, "Some people claim that you are a man from the people of Paradise." He replied, "Paradise belongs to Allah, He admits whomever He wills. I had a vision during the time of the Prophet ﷺ . I saw a man who told me to follow him, so I went with him. He took me on a great journey and a path appeared to me on my left, and I wanted to take it. He said, 'You are not from its people.' Then, another path appeared to me on my right, and I followed it until I reached a slippery mountain. He held my hand and shook me. Suddenly, I found myself on the edge of the mountain, without feeling any fear or lose my balance. Then, I saw a golden pillar at its highest point. He held my hand and shook me until I grabbed the pillar. I narrated this story to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, 'You have seen good. As for the great journey, it is the Day of Resurrection. As for the path that appeared to you on your left, it is the path of the people of Hell, and you are not from its people. As for the path that appeared to you on your right, it is the path of the people of Paradise, and you are from its people. As for the slippery mountain, it is the place of martyrs. As for the pillar you held onto, it is the pillar of Islam, and you are holding onto it by the will of Allah until you die. I hope that I will be one of the people of Paradise.' And he was Abdullah ibn Salam."

[Machine] If a man from the people of Paradise could be seen, then let him look at this. I said, "By Allah, I will definitely follow him and take note of where his house is." He said, "Then I followed him until he almost left the city. Then he entered his house and I sought permission to enter, and he allowed me. He said, "What is your need, O nephew?" I said, "I heard people say that when you stood, it pleased them to look at a man from the people of Paradise, so let them look at this." I was amazed at being with him. He said, "Only Allah knows the people of Paradise, and shall I inform you who says that? While I was sleeping, someone came to me and said, "Get up." Then he took me by the hand and I went with him. Suddenly, I found myself on a white horse on my left. I went to take it, and he said to me, "Take it. It is the mount of the people of the left." Then I found a horse on my right, and he said to me, "Take it. It is the mount of the people of the right." We came to a mountain, and he said, "Climb up." Whenever I wanted to climb up, I slid down onto my people. I did that repeatedly until he took hold of me, threw me forward, and I found myself clinging to the ring of the opening of the Heaven. The pillar was in the sky, and its base was on the ground. He said to me, 'Climb up.' I said, 'How can I climb up when my head is in the sky?' So he took hold of my hand and pulled me up until I was suspended by the ring, and the pillar was removed, and it fell down. Then he left me until the morning, and I came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him what had happened to me, and I described it to him. He said, 'As for the paths that you saw on your left and right, they are the paths of the people of the left and right. As for the mountain, it is the abode of the martyrs, and you will not attain it. As for the pillar, it is the pillar of Islam, and as for the rope, it is the rope of Islam, and it will continue to cling to it until you die.' Then he said to me, 'Do you know how Allah created creation?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'Allah created Adam. Then He said to him, 'Tell,' and Adam told. Then He said to him, 'Tell these.' And he told them. And his allotted life span and his deeds and his provision were determined. And he said, 'Then it is blown into him the soul..."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to send Ibn Rawaha to the Jews to ascertain the ripeness of the dates before they were eaten. Then the Jews were given the option to take them with a type of payment or to leave them and give them to the Muslims as a form of zakat (charity). The Prophet ﷺ ordered this to be done so that the zakat could be calculated before the fruits were eaten and distributed.

Ibn Rawahah assessed them (the amount of dates) at forty thousand wasqs, and when Ibn Rawahah gave them option, the Jews took the fruits in their possession and twenty thousand wasqs of dates were due from them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3415)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ conquered it, and it was a collection of its crops and date palms. The Prophet ﷺ and his companions did not have any servants. So the Prophet ﷺ made a deal with the Jews, saying, "You do the work, and we will give you half of the dates in return for me granting you security and protection." This happened when the Prophet ﷺ sent Ibn Rawahah as a supervisor over them. When he gave them the choice, the Jews took the dates. And so, the Jews continued to have control over Khaybar, despite the peace agreement with the Prophet ﷺ , until Umar expelled them. Then the Jews said, "Did not the Prophet ﷺ make peace with us on such and such conditions?" He said, "Yes, but he will grant you what Allah and His Messenger have made apparent. And when it became apparent to me that it was time to expel you, I expelled you." So he expelled them and divided the land between the Muslims who had participated in the conquest with the Prophet ﷺ . He did not give any to those who did not participate in the conquest. Therefore, its inhabitants now are Muslims, and there are no Jews there. This was only done by the order of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to assess the zakat (charity) before the fruits are consumed and dispersed. And so they were upon that.

[Machine] Regarding the lawsuit of the Prophet ﷺ against the Jews of Khaybar, it was agreed that we would have half of the fruits and you would have the other half, and you would spare us the work. So when their fruits became ripe, they came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Our fruits have become ripe, so send someone to divide them fairly between us and you." The Prophet ﷺ sent Abdullah bin Rawahah, and when he went to their palm trees and looked at them, he said, "By Allah, I do not know of anyone created by Allah who has a greater enmity towards Allah and a more hostile attitude towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than you. By Allah, Allah has not created anyone who is more hated by me than you. But it is not for me to deceive you even to the extent of a speck and I know it. Then he divided the fruits completely between those who owned them and those who were Jews. They had eighty thousand wasqs of dates, and the Jews said, "You have favored us." Ibn Rawahah said, "If you wish, give us forty thousand wasqs and you will be free from us." Some of them looked at each other and said, "With this (offer) the heavens and the earth become stable and with this (offer) they will defeat you."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ opened Khaibar, he sent Abdullah bin Rawaha to divide the spoils with the Jews. When he arrived and they offered him food, he disliked taking anything from them and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me as a just arbitrator between you and him. I have no interest in your gifts." He then fixed a stick in the ground and told them, "If you wish, I will guarantee you your share, and if you wish, you can guarantee us our share." They chose to guarantee and he placed the stick between them. They said, "O Ibn Rawaha, you bring to us a matter that the heavens and the earth are operated by the same principle. They only operate by justice." Khaibar was a place witnessed by Hudaibiya, where no one else was allowed to participate or refrain from participating. Muhammad ﷺ did not permit anyone to deviate from their destination to Hudaibiya in order to witness Khaibar.
