Do not sell a dinar for two dinars and one dirham for two dirhams.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ تَبِيعُوا الدِّينَارَ بِالدِّينَارَيْنِ وَلاَ الدِّرْهَمَ بِالدِّرْهَمَيْنِ

Let dinar be exchanged for dinar, with no addition on either side and dirham be exchanged for dirham with no addition on either side.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا

"Dinar for Dinar Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا

"Umar said: Dinar for Dinar, Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them, this is the obligation that our Prophet enjoined upon us."

ابْنُ عُمَرَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا هَذَا عَهْدُ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ إِلَيْنَا

“The Prophet used to give us dates from the collection (mixed) [1] dates, and we would exchange them for dates that were better, and we add to the price. [2] The Messenger of Allah said: ‘It is not right to give one Sa of dates for two Sa, nor one Dirham for two Dirham. A Dirham for a Dirham and a Dinar for a Dinar is allowed: the only difference between them is in weight (i.e., the weight must be equal.)’” Sahih

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَرْزُقُنَا تَمْرًا مِنْ تَمْرِ الْجَمْعِ فَنَسْتَبْدِلُ بِهِ تَمْرًا هُوَ أَطْيَبُ مِنْهُ وَنَزِيدُ فِي السِّعْرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَصْلُحُ صَاعُ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعَيْنِ وَلاَ دِرْهَمٌ بِدِرْهَمَيْنِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ وَالدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا إِلاَّ وَزْنًا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, riba (usury) is only in debt." Abdullah said, "Its meaning is one dirham exchanged for two dirhams."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا الرِّبَا فِي الدَّيْنِ» قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ «مَعْنَاهُ دِرْهَمٌ بِدِرْهَمَيْنِ»

"Dinar for Dinar Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4567)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The dinar (currency) is to be exchanged with the dinar, and the dirham (currency) is to be exchanged with the dirham. There is no advantage (or superiority) of one over the other." Abdullah ibn Rahman said, "I heard this hadith from Malik."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ يَعْنِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Musa ibn Abi Tamim from Abu'l Hubab Said ibn Yasar from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A dinar for a dinar, a dirham for a dirham, no excess between the two."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لاَ فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard from his grandfather, Malik ibn Abi Amir that Uthman ibn Affan said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Do not sell a dinar for two dinars nor a dirham for two dirhams.' "

قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَبِيعُوا الدِّينَارَ بِالدِّينَارَيْنِ وَلاَ الدِّرْهَمَ بِالدِّرْهَمَيْنِ

"Dinar for Dinar Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4567)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا»

"Umar said: Dinar for Dinar, Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them, this is the obligation that our Prophet enjoined upon us." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4568)

قَالَ عُمَرُ «الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا هَذَا عَهْدُ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ إِلَيْنَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not sell gold dinar for two gold dinars and do not sell silver dirham for two silver dirhams." These are the words of the hadith of Ibn Abbad.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تَبِيعُوا الدِّينَارَ بِالدِّينَارَيْنِ وَلَا الدِّرْهَمَ بِالدِّرْهَمَيْنِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَبْدَانَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A dinar should be exchanged for a dinar, with no difference between the two, and a dirham should be exchanged for a dirham, with no difference between them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا

"Umar said: Dinar for Dinar, Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them, this is the obligation that our Prophet enjoined upon us." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4568)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ الدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ لَا فَضْلَ بَيْنَهُمَا هَذَا عَهْدُ نَبِيِّنَا ﷺ إِلَيْنَا وَعَهْدُنَا إِلَيْكُمْ

"الدِّينارُ بالدِّينار لَا فَضل بَينَهُما. والدِّرْهَمُ بالدِّرْهم لَا فَضْلَ بينَهُمَا".

"لَا تَأخُذُوا الدِّينَارَ بالدِّينَارَينِ، وَلَا الدِّرهمَ بِالدِّرْهَمَينِ، وَلَا الصَّاعَ بالصَّاعَينِ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيكُم الرِّبَا".

"لا تَبِيعُوا الدِّينَارَ بِالدِّينَارَينِ، وَلا الدِّرْهَمَ بِالدِّرْهَمَينِ".

"لا يَصْلُحُ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعَينِ، وَلا دِرْهَمٌ بِدِرْهَمَين، وَالدِّرْهَم بِالدِّرْهَمِ، وَالدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ، لا فَضْلَ بَينَهُمَا إِلا وَزْنًا".

"عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ: الدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ فَضْلُ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا رِبًا".
