قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُمْ بِهِ} [النحل: 126]

"On the Day of Uhud, sixty-four of the Ansar were killed, and six from the Muhajirin, one of whom was Hamzah, and they mutilated them, so the Ansar said: 'If, (in the future) we are able to kill them on a day like this, we would mutilate from among them as twice as they (mutilate from among us).'" He said: "So on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, Allah revealed: And if you punish them, then punish them with the like of that with which you were afflicted. But if you have patience, then it is better for those who are patient (16:126). So a man said: 'There shall be no Quraish after today.' But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Leave the people, except for four.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3129)

[Machine] "On the day of Uhud, sixty-four men from the Ansar and six men from the Muhajireen were killed. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'If we have a day like this against the polytheists, we will prevail over them.' Then, on the day of the conquest, a man who was not known to the Quraysh declared, and a caller announced that no one should harm certain individuals. Allah, the Most High, revealed: 'And if you punish [an enemy], punish with an equivalent of that which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.' [Machine] "On the day of Uhud, among the Ansar (helpers) there were sixty-four casualties, and among the Muhajirin (migrants) there were six, including Hamza. They were killed, and the Ansar said, 'If we encounter them again even for a day, we will take revenge on them.' Then, on the day of the conquest of Mecca, a man who was not recognized by the Quraysh after that day called out. Allah the Almighty revealed to His Prophet ﷺ, 'And if you punish [an enemy], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed.'
