I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hastening as much in observing supererogatory as two rak'ahs before the (Fard) of the dawn prayer.

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنَ النَّوَافِلِ أَسْرَعَ مِنْهُ إِلَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ مُسَارَعَتَهُ ﷺ إِلَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مُسَارَعَتِهِ إِلَى الْغَنِيمَةِ الَّتِي يَغْنَمُهَا

[Machine] "I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rush towards any voluntary act of worship faster than he did towards the two Rak'ahs before Fajr prayer, nor towards any booty that he could take advantage of."

«مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُسْرِعُ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنَ النَّوَافِلِ أَسْرَعَ مِنْهُ إِلَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ وَلَا إِلَى غَنِيمَةٍ يَغْتَنِمُهَا»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was more particular about observing the supererogatory rak'ahs before the dawn prayer than about observing any of the other supererogatory prayers. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1254)   

الكبرى للنسائي:٤٥٦أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنَ النَّوَافِلِ أَشَدَّ مُعَاهَدَةً مِنْهُ عَلَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ»
