A man heard another man reciting (Surat-Al-Ikhlas) 'Say He is Allah, (the) One.' (112. 1) repeatedly. The next morning he came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur'an!"

سَمِعَ رَجُلاً يَقْرَأُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} يُرَدِّدُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ وَكَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَالُّهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

A man heard another man reciting: Surat-ul-Ikhlas (The Unity) 'Say: He is Allah, the One (112) and he was repeating it. The next morning he came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned the whole story to him as if he regarded the recitation of that Sura as insufficient On that, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! That (Sura No. 112) equals one-third of the Qur'an."

سَمِعَ رَجُلاً يَقْرَأُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} يُرَدِّدُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ وَكَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَالُّهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers): 'Say (O Muhammad): "He is Allah, the One." (112.1) And he recited it repeatedly. When it was morning, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him about that as if he considered that the recitation of that Sura by itself was not enough. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Qur'an."

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, I have a neighbor who stands the night in prayer and only recites Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah Al-Ikhlas) as if he belittles it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it (Surah Al-Ikhlas) is equivalent to one-third of the Quran."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّلِي جَارًا يَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ وَلَا يَقْرَأُ إِلَّا قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ كَأَنَّهُ يُقَلِّلُهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

When morning came, a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man stood up last night from midnight until dawn and recited 'Say: He is Allah, the One' repeatedly without reciting anything else. It is as if this man belittles it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an."

قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ السُّورَةُ يُرَدِّدُهَا لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَامَ اللَّيْلَةَ مِنَ السَّحَرِ يَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا كَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَلَّلُهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنَ»

[AI] A man heard someone reciting {Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One} [Al-Ikhlas 1] repeatedly. When morning came, he went to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran." Isma'il ibn Ja'far contradicted him. 10468 Abbas ibn Abdul Azim informed us: Muhammad ibn Jahdam told us: Isma'il ibn Ja'far told us from Malik, who mentioned a word with its meaning from Abdul Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'a.

سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] يُرَدِّدُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ» خَالَفَهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ 10468 أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي صَعْصَعَةَ

[AI] A man heard someone reciting "Say, He is Allah, the One" repeatedly. So, when morning came, he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him. The man used to frequently recite it, and Al-Qa'qaa bin Makhshi (a companion) would recite it as well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, indeed it equals one-third of the Quran."

سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ يُرَدِّدُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَتَقَالُّهَا وَقَالَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ يُقَالُّهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

[AI] A man stood in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recited the Surah "Say, He is Allah, the One" in its entirety, repeatedly, without adding anything more. When we woke up, a man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, indeed there was a man who stood up in the night and recited the Surah 'Say, He is Allah, the One,' Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begot nor was begotten, and there is none comparable to Him,' without adding anything more." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَامَ فِي زَمَنِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ السُّورَةَ كُلَّهَا يُرَدِّدُهَا لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إنَّ رَجُلًا قَامَ لَيْلَةً يَقْرَأُ فِي السَّحَرِ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ اللهُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ يُرَدِّدُهَا لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يُقَالُّهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

"وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرآنِ- يعني: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ".
