9.18 [Machine] What is disliked for the worshipper, and what is not disliked

٩۔١٨ بَابُ مَا يُكْرَهُ لِلْمُصَلِّي، وَمَا لَا يُكْرَهُ

ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ أَوْهَمَ مَنْ لَمْ يُحْكِمْ صِنَاعَةَ الْحَدِيثِ أَنَّهُ مُضَادٌّ لِلْأَخْبَارِ الَّتِي تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لَهَا

[Machine] Aisha said, "I saw myself in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ holding a funeral prayer like that of a dead body while he was praying."  

ابن حبّان:٢٣٩٠أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ قَالَتْ

عَائِشَةُ «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُعْتَرِضَةً كَاعْتِرَاضِ الْجَنَازَةِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي»  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ صَلَاةَ الْمَرْءِ إِنَّمَا تُقْطَعُ مُرُورِ الْكَلْبِ وَالْحِمَارِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ لَا كَوْنِهِنَّ وَاعْتِرَاضِهِنَّ

“The prayer is severed by a woman, a donkey, and a black dog, if there is not something like the handle of a saddle in front of a man.” I (‘Abdullah) said: “What is wrong with a black dog and not a red one?” He (Abu Dharr) said: ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the same question, and he said: “The black dog is a Shaitan (satan).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 952)   

ابن حبّان:٢٣٩١أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْبُسْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «تُعَادُ الصَّلَاةُ مِنْ مَمَرِّ الْحِمَارِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ وَالْكَلْبِ الْأَسْوَدِ» قُلْتُ مَا بَالُ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْأَصْفَرِ مِنَ الْأَحْمَرِ؟ فَقَالَ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَمَا سَأَلْتَنِي فَقَالَ «الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ شَيْطَانٌ»  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ هَذِهِ الْأَشْيَاءَ الثَّلَاثَةَ إِنَّمَا تَقْطَعُ صَلَاةَ الْمُصَلِّي إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ قُدَّامَهُ سُتْرَةٌ

Abu Dharr said (and not the Prophet): If there is not anything like the back of a saddle in front of a man who is praying, then a donkey, a black dog, and a woman cut off his prayer. I asked him: Why has the black dog been specified, distinguishing it from a red, a yellow and a white dog? He replied: My nephew, I also asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the same question as you asked me. He said: The black dog is a devil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 702)   

ابن حبّان:٢٣٩٢أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلُ آخِرَةِ الرَّحْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَقْطَعُ صَلَاتَهُ الْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحِمَارُ وَالْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدِ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ فَمَا بَالُ الْكَلْبِ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْكَلْبِ الْأَحْمَرِ مِنَ الْكَلْبِ الْأَصْفَرِ؟ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي إِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَمَّا سَأَلْتَنِي عَنْهُ فَقَالَ «الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ شَيْطَانٌ»  

ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ أَوْهَمَ عَالِمًا مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنَّهُ يُضَادُّ الْأَخْبَارَ الَّتِي ذَكَرْنَاهَا قَبْلُ

Once I came riding a she-ass when I had just attained the age of puberty. Messenger of Allah ﷺ was offering the prayer at Mina with no wall in front of him and I passed in front of some of the row. There I dismounted and let my she-ass loose to graze and entered the row and nobody objected to me about it. (Using translation from Bukhārī 493)  

ابن حبّان:٢٣٩٣أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «أَقْبَلْتُ رَاكِبًا عَلَى أَتَانٍ وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ قَدْ نَاهَزْتُ الِاحْتِلَامَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ بِمِنًى فَمَرَرْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ بَعْضِ الصَّفِّ فَنَزَلْتُ فَأَرْسَلْتُ الْأَتَانَ تَرْتَعُ وَدَخَلْتُ فِي الصَّفِّ فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ أَحَدٌ»  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ صَلَاةَ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ بِمِنًى كَانَتِ السُّتْرَةُ قُدَّامَهُ حَيْثُ كَانَ الْأَتَانُ تَرْتَعُ قُدَّامَ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mecca and he was (at that time) at al- Abtah in a red leather tent. And Bilal stepped out with ablution water for him. (And what was left out of that water) some of them got it (whereas others could not get it) and (those who got it) rubbed themselves with it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stepped out with a red mantle on him and I was catching a glimpse of the whiteness of his shanks. The narrator said: He (the Holy Prophet) performed the ablution. and Bilal pronounced Adhan and I followed his mouth (as he turned) this side and that as he said on the right and the left:" Come to prayer, come to success." ' A spear was then fixed for him (on the ground). He stepped forward and said two rak'ahs of Zuhr, while there passed in front of him a donkey and a dog, and these were not checked. He then said two rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer, and he then continued saying two rak'ahs till he came back to Medina. (Using translation from Muslim 503a)  

ابن حبّان:٢٣٩٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْنُ بْنُ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ بِالْأَبْطَحِ فِي قُبَّةٍ لَهُ حَمْرَاءَ مِنْ أَدَمٍ» قَالَ فَخَرَجَ بِلَالٌ بِوَضُوئِهِ فَبَيْنَ نَائِلٍ وَنَاضِحٍ قَالَ «فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ حَمْرَاءُ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِ سَاقَيْهِ» قَالَ «فَتَوَضَّأَ وَأَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَجَعَلَ يَتْبَعُ فَاهُ هَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا يَقُولُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ثُمَّ رُكِزَتْ لَهُ عَنَزَةٌ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ الْحِمَارُ وَالْكَلْبُ لَا يَمْنَعُ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى رَجَعَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ»
