The Prophet ﷺ got up from his sleep with a flushed red face and said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Woe to the Arabs, from the Great evil that is nearly approaching them. Today a gap has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this." (Sufyan illustrated by this forming the number 90 or 100 with his fingers.) It was asked, "Shall we be destroyed though there are righteous people among us?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, if evil increased."

عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ جَحْشٍ ؓن أَنَّهَا قَالَتِ اسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنَ النَّوْمِ مُحْمَرًّا وَجْهُهُ يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَاجُوجَ وَمَاجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ وَعَقَدَ سُفْيَانُ تِسْعِينَ أَوْ مِائَةً قِيلَ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

that the Prophet ﷺ once came to her in a state of fear and said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Woe unto the Arabs from a danger that has come near. An opening has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this," making a circle with his thumb and index finger. Zaynab bt. Jahsh said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, shall we ˹too˺ be destroyed even though there are pious persons among us?" He said, "Yes, when the evil will have increased."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ: «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ! وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ! فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَاجُوجَ وَمَاجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ»، وَحَلَّقَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا، قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ ابْنَةُ جَحْشٍ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ».

That the Prophet ﷺ came to her in a state of fear saying, "None has the right to be worshiped but Allah! Woe to the Arabs because of evil that has come near. Today a hole has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog as large as this." pointing with two of his fingers making a circle. Zainab said, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Shall we be destroyed though amongst us there are pious people? ' He said, 'Yes, if evil increases."

أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَتْهَا عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا وَحَلَّقَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ وَبِالَّتِي تَلِيهَا فَقَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

There is no being worthy of worship except Allah; there is a destruction in store for Arabia because of turmoil which is at hand, the barrier of Gog and Magog has opened so much. And Sufyan made a sign of ten with the help of his hand (in order to indicate the width of the gap) and I said: Messenger of Allah, would we be perished in spite of the fact that there would be good people amongst us? Thereupon he said: Of course, but only when the evil predominates.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ وَعَقَدَ سُفْيَانُ بِيَدِهِ عَشَرَةً قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

There is no god but Allah; there is a destruction in store for Arabia because of the turmoil which is near at hand as the barrier of Gog and Magog has been opened like it, and he (in order to explain it) made a ring with the help of his thumb and forefinger. I said: Messenger of Allah, would we be destroyed despite the fact that there would be pious people amongst us? He said: Yes, when evil would be predominant.

أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ أَخْبَرَتْهَا أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَزِعًا مُحْمَرًّا وَجْهُهُ يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ وَحَلَّقَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

"One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ awoke from sleep with a flushed red face, and said: 'La Ilahaillallah. He repeated it thrice. 'Woe to the Arabs from the evil drawn near. Today a gap has been made in the wall of Ya'juj and Ma'juj like this.' And he formed ten(with his fingers)." Zainab said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Shall we be destroyed while they are righteous among us?' He said: 'Yes, when the evil abounds."'

قَالَتِ اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمٍ مُحْمَرًّا وَجْهُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ يُرَدِّدُهَا ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ وَعَقَدَ عَشْرًا قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَنُهْلَكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up red in the face and said: ‘La ilaha illallah, woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn nigh. Today a hole has been opened in the barrier of Gog and Magog.’ And he gestured to indicate the size of the hole.” Zainab said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed when there are righteous people among us?’ He said: ‘If sin and evil deeds increase.’”

أَنَّهَا قَالَتِ اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ وَهُوَ مُحْمَرٌّ وَجْهُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ وَعَقَدَ بِيَدَيْهِ عَشَرَةً قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

[Machine] From Habibah bint Ummi Habibah binti Abi Sufyan, from her mother Ummi Habibah, from Zainab the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , she said: "Sufyan said, 'There are four women who said, 'The Prophet ﷺ woke up from sleep with his face red and said, 'There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. Woe to the Arabs from the evil that has approached. Today, a breach has been opened in the barrier of Gog and Magog like this (indicating with his fingers)."" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we perish while there are righteous people among us?" He said ﷺ , "Yes, when immorality becomes widespread."

عَنْ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ أَرْبَعُ نِسْوَةٍ قَالَتِ اسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمٍ وَهُوَ مُحْمَرٌّ وَجْهُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدْ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ وَحَلَّقَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ ﷺ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

That one day Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her in a state of fear and said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah! Woe to the Arabs from the Great evil that has approached (them). Today a hole has been opened in the dam of Gog and Magog like this." The Prophet ﷺ made a circle with his index finger and thumb. Zainab bint Jahsh added: I said, "O Alllah's Apostle! Shall we be destroyed though there will be righteous people among us?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, if the (number) of evil (persons) increased." (Using translation from Bukhārī 7135)

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدْ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا قَالَ وَحَلَّقَ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while he was holding his index finger with his thumb and he was saying, "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has approached. Today, a breach has been made in the wall of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) the size of a dirham." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?" He ﷺ said, "Yes, when evil becomes widespread."

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَاقِدٌ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ بِالْإِبْهَامِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدْ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ مَوْضِعِ الدِّرْهَمِ قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ ﷺ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered upon us saying, "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has come close. Today, the barrier of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) has been opened like this." He then gestured with his index finger and the one next to it. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?" He said, "Yes, when wickedness becomes widespread." Abdullah ibn Yazid Al-Minqari did not mention from Ma'mar in the chain [of narration], from Umm Habibah.

دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ» وَحَلَّقَ إِبْهَامَهُ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ» لَمْ يَذْكُرْ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ فِي الْإِسْنَادِ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her in a state of fear, saying, "Woe to the Arabs from the evil that is approaching! The barrier of Yajuj and Majuj has been opened today, like this," and he gestured with his thumb and the one following it. Zainab said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed even though there are righteous people among us?" He replied, "Yes, when wickedness becomes abundant."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ «وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا وَحَلَّقَ بِأَصْبُعِهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا» قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up startled from his sleep and said, "Woe to the Arabs from a evil that has drawn near. Today, a hole has been opened in the barrier of Ya'juj and Ma'juj like this." Then he circled his thumb and the finger next to it. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?" He said, "Yes, when evil becomes widespread."

اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ فَزِعًا فَقَالَ «وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ» وَحَلَّقَ بِأَصْبُعَيْهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up from his sleep with redness on his face and said, "There is no god but Allah. Woe to the Arabs from the evil that has approached. Today, the barrier of Yajuj and Majuj has been opened like this." And he clasped his hands, meaning ten. Zainab said, so I said, "Will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?" He said, "Yes, when wickedness becomes widespread."

اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ مُحْمَرٌّ وَجْهُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهَ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمُ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا» وَعَقَدَ بِيَدِهِ يَعْنِي عَشَرَةً قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَقُلْتُ نَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ»

انْتَبَهَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ نَوْمٍ مُحْمَرًّا وَجْهُهُ وَهُو يَقُولُ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا» وَعَقَدَ سَبْعِينَ وَعَشَرَةً سَوَاءً قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ»

"وَيلٌ لِلعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ، فُتِحَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأجُوجَ وَمَأجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِه وَعَقَدَ عَشْرَةً، قِيلَ: أَنهْلكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحونَ؟ قال: نَعْم إِذا كثر الخَبَث".

"لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله، وَيْلٌ لِلعَربِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَربَ! ! فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأجُوجَ وَمَأجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ، وَحَلَّقَ بِأصْبعِه الإبْهَامِ والَّتِي تَلِيهَا، قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ الله، أَنهْلكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَال: نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ".
