The Prophet ﷺ said, "When you hear the Iqama, proceed to offer the prayer with calmness and solemnity and do not make haste. And pray whatever you are able to pray and complete whatever you have missed.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الإِقَامَةَ فَامْشُوا إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ وَالْوَقَارِ وَلاَ تُسْرِعُوا فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

heard Messenger of Allah ﷺs ﷺ saying, "If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed. "

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: When the Iqama has been pronounced for prayer, do not go running to it, but go walking in tranquillity and pray what you are in time for, and complete what you have missed.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ح قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

When the words of Iqama are pronounced, do not come to (prayer) running, but go with tranquillity, and pray what you are in time for, and complete (what you have missed) for when one of you is preparing for prayer he is in fact engaged in prayer.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا ثُوِّبَ لِلصَّلاَةِ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا كَانَ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَهُوَ فِي صَلاَةٍ

When the call is made for prayer come to it walking with tranquillity, and pray what you are in time for, and complete what you have missed.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ أَحَادِيثَ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When the iqamah is pronounced for prayer, do not come to it running, but come walking(slowly). You should observe tranquility. The part of the prayer you get(along with the imam) offer it, and the part you miss complete it (afterward).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

Come to prayer with calmness and tranquility. Then pray the part you get (long with the imam) and complete afterwards the part you miss. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Sirin narrated from Abu Hurairah the words: "he should complete it afterwards." Similarly, Abu Rafi' narrated from Abu Hurairah and Abu Dharr narrated from him the words "then complete it, and complete it afterwards." There is a variation of words in the narration from him.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ ائْتُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَصَلُّوا مَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ وَاقْضُوا مَا سَبَقَكُمْ

Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for Salat do not come to it rushing, rather come to it walking, and while you have tranquility. What you catch of it then pray it, and what you missed of it, then complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ وَأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَزَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَأَنَسٍ

"The Messenger of ﷺ said: 'When you come to pray, do not come rushing; come walking in a dignified manner, and whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, make it up."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلاَةَ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

The Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come running. Come walking with tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you come to the prayer, you must bring peace and tranquility. Whatever you catch, then perform the prayer, and whatever you miss, then complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا»

The Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come running. Come walking with tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 775)

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Perform the prayer and upon you be tranquility. So pray what you have caught up with and make up for what you have missed."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ائْتُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَصَلُّوا مَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ وَاقْضُوا مَا سُبِقْتُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the call to prayer is made, do not rush to it running, rather walk in tranquility. Whatever you catch, pray and whatever you miss, make it up."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا نُودِيَبِالصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَلَكِنِ امْشُوا مَشْيًا عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سَبَقَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Perform the prayer and may tranquility be upon you. Pray what you have caught up with and make up for what you have missed."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ائْتُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَعَلَيْكُمُالسَّكِينَةُ فَصَلُّوا مَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ وَاقْضُوا مَا سُبِقْتُمْ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "When one of you hears the adhan, let tranquility settle upon him. Whatever part of the prayer he catches, let him pray it, and whatever part he misses, let him complete it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْإِقَامَةَ فَلْيَأْتِ عَلَيْهِ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكَ فَلْيُصَلِّ وَمَا فَاتَهُ فَلْيُتِمَّ

The Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come running. Come walking with tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 775)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] From his father, in the narration of 'Abd al-Rahman and Ishaaq ibn 'Abdullah, that they heard Abu Hurayrah saying: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When the prayer is called, do not come to it hastily while you are walking, rather come to it calmly and with tranquility. Whatever you have caught up with, then pray it, and whatever you have missed, then complete it, for indeed one of you is in prayer as long as he is intending to pray."

عَنْ أَبِيهِ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَإِسْحَاقَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِأَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا كَانَ يَعْمِدُ الصَّلَاةَ

"The Messenger of ﷺ said: 'When you come to pray, do not come rushing; come walking in a dignified manner, and whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, make it up."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 861)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَفَأْتُوهَا بِالْوَقَارِ وَالسَّكِينَةِ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, 'When the prayer is established, walk towards it and upon you will be tranquility and dignity. Whatever you catch, then perform it, and whatever you miss, then make it up.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَامْشُوا إِلَيْهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ وَالْوَقَارُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

When the words of Iqama are pronounced, do not come to (prayer) running, but go with tranquillity, and pray what you are in time for, and complete (what you have missed) for when one of you is preparing for prayer he is in fact engaged in prayer. (Using translation from Muslim 602b)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا كَانَ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you hear the call to prayer, walk calmly and do not rush. Maintain tranquility, and whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it. And whatever you miss, make up for it." Abu Al-Nadr said, "Go and maintain tranquility."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْإِقَامَةَ فَامْشُوا وَلَا تُسْرِعُوا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةَ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا وَقَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ فَأْتُوا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you comes to pray, let them walk with humility. Whatever they catch up with, they have completed, and whatever they miss, they should make up for."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَمْشِ عَلَى هِينَتِهِ فَمَا أَدْرَكَ صَلَّى وَمَا سَبَقَهُ أَتَمَّ

Yahya related to me from Malik from al-Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Yaqub from his father and Ishaq ibn Abdullah that they informed him that they heard Abu Hurayra say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When the iqama is called for prayer, do not come to it running, but come with calmness. Pray what you catch and complete what you miss. You are in prayer as long as your aim is the prayer.' "

يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَلاَ تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلاَةٍ مَا كَانَ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ

"The Messenger of ﷺ said: 'When you come to pray, do not come rushing; come walking in a dignified manner, and whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, make it up."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 861)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ « إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَائْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا»

[AI] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "When the prayer is called, come to it, and upon you is tranquility. Pray what you have caught and what you have missed, then complete it."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَائْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَصَلُّوا مَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا»

[AI] Narrated by Al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Al-'Ala' bin 'Abdur-Rahman from his father from Ishaq bin Abdullah that they both informed him that they heard Abu Hurairah saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the prayer is commenced, do not approach it while you are rushing, but come to it in a calm manner, and upon you is tranquility. Whatever you have caught up to, then pray, and whatever you have missed, then complete it, for one of you is in a state of prayer as long as he is not intending to leave the prayer."

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَإِسْحَاقِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُمَا أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَائْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا فَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا كَانَ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ ائتوا الصلاة وعليكم السكينة والوقار فصلوا ما أدركتم واقضوا ما سبقكم

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ إذا سمع أحدكم الإقامة فليأت وعليه السكينة فليصل ما أدرك وليقض ما فاته

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ إذا أتى أحدكم الصلاة فليأتها وعليه السكينة فما أدرك فليصل وما فاته فليتم

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إذا أتى أحدكم يعني الصلاة فلا يسع إليها وليمش وعليه السكينة والوقار فَلْيُصَلِّ مَا أَدْرَكَ وَلْيَقْضِ مَا سَبَقَهُ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إذا أتيتم الصلاة فأتوها وعليكم السكينة فما أدركتم فصلوا وما سبقكم فاقضوا

"The Messenger of ﷺ said: 'When you come to pray, do not come rushing; come walking in a dignified manner, and whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, make it up."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 861)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأَتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلَّوْا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When the prayer is called, then walk to it and you will have tranquility and dignity. Whatever you catch, pray it. And whatever you miss, complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَامْشُوا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ وَالْوَقَارُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you come to prayer, do not come crawling but come walking, and inner peace be upon you. Pray what you have caught up with and make up for what you have missed."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَصَلُّوا مَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ وَاقْضُوا مَا فَاتَكُمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "When the call to prayer is made, come to it while you are walking calmly, and upon you is tranquility. Whatever you have managed to catch, pray, and whatever you have missed, complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When the prayer is established, do not come to it (the mosque) running, rather come walking calmly. Upon you will be tranquility. Whatever you catch (of the prayer), perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ ايتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When the prayer is established, do not rush to it walking at a fast pace, but approach it walking calmly. And upon you is tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the prayer is announced, then upon you is tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, then pray it, and whatever you miss, then complete it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "When you come to perform prayer, do not come running, but come with tranquility. Whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, make it up."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not come to the prayer while you are rushing, but come to it with tranquility. Whatever you catch, pray it, and whatever you miss, complete the recitation of the Muqri's (the person leading the prayer) statement.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تَأْتُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ وَأْتُوهَا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الْمُقْرِئِ

[AI] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the call to prayer is made, come to it walking calmly, and upon you will be tranquility. Whatever you have caught up with, pray, and whatever you have missed, complete it."

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَأْتُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْشُونَ وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When you hear the call to prayer, then walk calmly and serenely. Whatever part of it you catch, offer the prayer, and whatever you miss, make it up."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْإِقَامَةَ فَامْشُوا وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَاقْضُوا

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When the iqamah is pronounced for prayer, do not come to it running, but come walking(slowly). You should observe tranquility. The part of the prayer you get(along with the imam) offer it, and the part you miss complete it (afterwards). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 572)

The part of the prayer you get(along with the imam) offer it, and the part you miss complete it(afterwards). Abu Dawud said: The version narrated by al-Zubaidi, Ibn Abi Dhi’b, Ibrahim b. Sa’d, Ma’mar, Shu’aib b. Abi Hamzah on the authority of al-Zuhri has the words: “the part you miss then complete it”. Ibn ‘Uyainah alone narrated from al-Zuhri the words “then offer it afterwards”. And Muhammad b. ‘Amr narrated from Abu Salamah on the authority of Abu Hurairah, and Ja’far b. Rabi’ah narrated from al-A’raj on the authority of Abu Hurairah the words “then complete it”. And Ibn Mas’ud narrated from the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Qatadah and Anas reported from the Prophet( may peace be upon him) the words” then complete it”. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 572)

"إِذَا أُقيمتْ الصَّلاةُ فلا تْأتُوها وأنتم تَسْعَوْنَ، ولكنْ إئُتُوها وأنْتم تَمْشُون وعليكم السكينةُ فما أدْرَكتم فصَلوا وما فَاتَكم فأتِمُّوا".

When the words of Iqama are pronounced, do not come to (prayer) running, but go with tranquillity, and pray what you are in time for, and complete (what you have missed) for when one of you is preparing for prayer he is in fact engaged in prayer. (Using translation from Muslim 602b)

"إذَا ثُوِّبَ للصَّلاةِ فلا تَأتُوها وَأنْتُمْ تَسْعَوْنَ، وَأتُوها وَعَليكم السكينة، فما أدركْتُمْ فصَلُّوا، وما فاتكُم فأتُّموا، فإنَّ أحَدكمُ إذَا كانَ يعمدُ إلى الصَّلاة فهو في صلاةٍ".
