Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your period (i.e. the Muslims' period) in comparison to the periods of the previous nations, is like the period between the ʿAsr prayer and sunset. And your example in comparison to the Jews and the Christians is like the example of a person who employed some laborers and asked them, 'Who will work for me till midday for one Qirat each?' The Jews worked for half a day for one Qirat each. The person asked, 'Who will do the work for me from midday to the time of the ʿAsr (prayer) for one Qirat each?' The Christians worked from midday till the ʿAsr prayer for one Qirat. Then the person asked, 'Who will do the work for me from the ʿAsr till sunset for two Qirats each?' " The Prophet ﷺ added, "It is you (i.e. Muslims) who are doing the work from the ʿAsr till sunset, so you will have a double reward. The Jews and the Christians got angry and said, 'We have done more work but got less wages.' Allah said, 'Have I been unjust to you as regards your rights?' They said, 'No.' So Allah said, 'Then it is My Blessing which I bestow on whomever I like. "

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَجَلُكُمْ فِي أَجَلِ مَنْ خَلاَ مِنَ الأُمَمِ مَا بَيْنَ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغْرِبِ الشَّمْسِ وَإِنَّمَا مَثَلُكُمْ وَمَثَلُ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى كَرَجُلٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَّالاً فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغْرِبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ أَلاَ فَأَنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغْرِبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ أَلاَ لَكُمُ الأَجْرُ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى فَقَالُوا نَحْنُ أَكْثَرُ عَمَلاً وَأَقَلُّ عَطَاءً قَالَ اللَّهُ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا قَالُوا لاَ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ فَضْلِي أُعْطِيهِ مَنْ شِئْتُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your example and the example of the people of the two Scriptures (i.e. Jews and Christians) is like the example of a man who employed some laborers and asked them, 'Who will work for me from morning till midday for one Qirat?' The Jews accepted and carried out the work. He then asked, Who will work for me from midday up to the ʿAsr prayer for one Qirat?' The Christians accepted and fulfilled the work. He then said, 'Who will work for me from the ʿAsr till sunset for two Qirats?' You, Muslims have accepted the offer. The Jews and the Christians got angry and said, 'Why should we work more and get lesser wages?' (Allah) said, 'Have I withheld part of your right?' They replied in the negative. He said, 'It is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish .'

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَثَلُكُمْ وَمَثَلُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابَيْنِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ اسْتَأْجَرَ أُجَرَاءَ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ غُدْوَةَ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى أَنْ تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ فَأَنْتُمْ هُمْ فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى فَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا أَكْثَرَ عَمَلاً وَأَقَلَّ عَطَاءً قَالَ هَلْ نَقَصْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ قَالُوا لاَ قَالَ فَذَلِكَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your example and the example of Jews and Christians is like the example of a man who employed some laborers to whom he said, 'Who will work for me up to midday for one Qirat each?' The Jews carried out the work for one Qirat each; and then the Christians carried out the work up to the ʿAsr prayer for one Qirat each; and now you Muslims are working from the ʿAsr prayer up to sunset for two Qirats each. The Jews and Christians got angry and said, 'We work more and are paid less.' The employer (Allah) asked them, 'Have I usurped some of your right?' They replied in the negative. He said, 'That is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish.' "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُكُمْ وَالْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى كَرَجُلٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَّالاً فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ ثُمَّ عَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ ثُمَّ أَنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغَارِبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى وَقَالُوا نَحْنُ أَكْثَرُ عَمَلاً وَأَقَلُّ عَطَاءً قَالَ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا قَالُوا لاَ فَقَالَ فَذَلِكَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your life in comparison to the lifetime of the past nations is like the period between the time of ʿAsr prayer and sunset. Your example and the example of the Jews and Christians is that of person who employed laborers and said to them, "Who will work for me till the middle of the day for one Qirat (a special weight)?' The Jews did. He then said, "Who will work for me from the middle of the day till the ʿAsr prayer for one Qirat each?" The Christians worked accordingly. Then you (Muslims) are working from the ʿAsr prayer till the Maghrib prayer for two Qirats each. They (the Jews and the Christians) said, 'We did more labor but took less wages.' He (Allah) said, 'Have I wronged you in your rights?' They replied, 'No.' Then He said, 'This is My Blessing which I give to whom I wish."

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Your period in comparison to the periods of the previous nations, is like the period between Salat Al-'Asr until sunset. And you are in comparison to the Jews and Christians, like a man who employeed some workers and he said: 'Who will work for me until Midday for a Qirat each?' So the Jews worked for half a day for a Qirat each. Then he said: 'Who will work for me from the middle of the day until Salat Al-'Asr for a Qirat each?' So the Christians worked for a Qirat each. Then it is you who are doing the work from Salat Al-'Asr until the setting of the sun for two Qirats each. So the Jews and the Christians got angry and said: 'We did more work but were given less?' So He (Allah) says: 'Have I wronged you in any of your rights?' They said: 'No.' He says: 'Then it is my blessing that I give to whomever I wish.'"

And you are in comparison to the Jews and Christians, like a man who employeed some workers and he said: 'Who will work for me until Midday for a Qirat each?' قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَثَلُكُمْ وَمَثَلُ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى كَرَجُلٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَّالًا فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ؟ أَلَا فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ؟ أَلَا فَعَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ ؟ أَلَا فَأَنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ عَمِلْتُمْ فَغَضِبَ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالُوا نَحْنُ كُنَّا أَكْثَرَ عَمَلًا وَأَقَلَّ عَطَاءً قَالَ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا؟ قَالُوا لَا قَالَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The example of my Ummah (nation) is like a man who said, 'Who will work for me from morning until midday for a qirat?' The Jews said, 'We will do it,' so they did and he paid them their wages. Then he said, 'Who will work for me from midday until the Asr prayer for a qirat?' The Christians said, 'We will do it,' so they did and he paid them their wages. Then he said, 'Who will work from the Asr prayer until nightfall for two qirats?' The Muslims said, 'We will do it.' So they worked and he paid them their wages. The Jews and the Christians became angry and said, 'We did more work but received less payment.' He asked them if he had been unfair in their wages and they replied, 'No.' He said, 'That is my favor which I bestow on whom I will.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَثَلُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَوْ قَالَ أُمَّتِي وَمَثَلُ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ غُدْوَةٍ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ؟ قَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ نَحْنُ فَفَعَلُوا فَقَالَ فَمَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ؟ قَالَتِ النَّصَارَى نَحْنُ فَعَمِلُوا وَأَنْتُمُالْمُسْلِمُونَ تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى فَقَالُوا نَحْنُ أَكْثَرُ عَمَلًا وَأَقَلُّ أَجْرًا فَقَالَ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ أَجْرِكُمْ شَيْئًا؟ قَالُوا لَا قَالَ فَذَاكَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُكُمْ وَمَثَلُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابَيْنِ قَبْلَكُمْ مَثْلُ رَجُلٍ اسْتَأْجَرَ أَجِيرًا فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ مَا بَيْنَ غُدْوَةٍ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ؟ فَعَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مَا بَيْنَ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ؟ فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مَا بَيْنَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ؟ فَعَمِلْتُمْ أَنْتُمْ فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا أَكْثَرَ عَمَلًا وَأَقَلَّ عَطَاءً؟ قَالَ هَلْ نَقَصْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا؟ قَالُوا لَا فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا هُوَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ

"إِنَّمَا أجَلكم فيما خلا من الأُمَمِ، كما بين صلاةِ العصر إِلى مغارب الشمسِ وإِنما مثلُكم ومثلُ اليهود والنصارى كمثل رجُل استأَجَرَ أجيرًا فقال: من

يعملُ لى من غَدوة إِلى نصف النهار على قيراط قيراط فعملت اليهود، ثم قال: من يعملُ من نصفِ النّهار إِلى صلاة العصر على قيراط قيراط، فَعَمِلت النصارى، ثم قال: من يعملُ من العصرِ إِلى أن تغيبَ الشَّمس على قيراطين قيراطين فأَنتم هم فغضبت اليهودُ والنصارى وقالوا: مالَنا أَكثرُ عملًا وأقلُّ عطاءً؟ قال: هل ظلمتكم من حقَّكم شيئًا؟ قالوا لا، قال: فذلك فضلى أُوتيه من أَشاءُ ".
