The Prophet ﷺ said: Wear your white garments, for they are among your best garments, and shroud your dead in them. Among the best types of collyrium you use is antimony (ithmid): it clears the vision and makes the hair sprout.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ وَإِنَّ خَيْرَ أَكْحَالِكُمُ الإِثْمِدُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ

The Messenger of Allah said: "Wear the white among your garments, for indeed they are among the best of your garments, and shroud your dead in them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَعَائِشَةَ

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'You should wear white garments; dress your living ones in them, and shroud your dead in them, for they are among the best of your garments.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْبَيَاضِ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ

“The best of your garments are those which are white, so shroud your dead in them, and wear them.”

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "I advise you to wear this white garment and shroud your deceased in it."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذِهِ الْبَيَاضِ لِيَلْبَسْهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You should wear this white garment and shroud your dead in it, for it is from the best of your clothing." It has been narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas and Samurah ibn Jundub that the Prophet ﷺ added additional words to this statement.

عَنِ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ بِالْبَيَاضِ فليلبسهما أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ

“Wear white garments, for they are purer and better.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3567)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْبَسُوا هَذِهِ الثِّيَابَ الْبَيَاضَ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا أَطْهَرُ وَأَطْيَبُ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْبَسُوا مِنْ لِبَاسِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of your garments is whiteness, so wear it in your living state and shroud your deceased in it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ لِبَاسِكُمُ الْبَيَاضُ فَ‍أَلْبِسُوهَا أَحْيَاءَكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْبَسُوا هَذِهِ الثِّيَابَ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْبَسُوا هَذِهِ الثِّيَابَ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَأَلْبِسُوهَا أَحْيَاءَكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَأَلْبِسُوهَا أَحْيَاءَكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wear white clothes for yourself, and shroud your dead in them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِثِيَابِ الْبَيَاضِ فَالْبَسُوهَا وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'You should wear white garments; dress your living ones in them, and shroud your dead in them, for they are among the best of your garments.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5323)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِثِيَابِ الْبَيَاضِ لِيَلْبَسَهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adorn yourselves with white garments, for it is the best of your garments. And shroud your deceased in them. Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah contradicted this, narrating from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from Samurah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْبَيَاضِ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ» خَالَفَهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ that he said: Wear white clothing, as it is the best of your clothing. Shroud your deceased in it, for we have narrated it from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ mentioned it in the Book of Jumu'ah."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْبَيَاضِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهُ أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهِ مَوْتَاكُمْ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ خَيْرِ لِبَاسِكُمْ وَقَدْ رُوِّينَاهُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي كِتَابِ الْجُمُعَةِ

"عَلَيكُمْ بالبياضِ من الثِّياب فَلْيَلْبَسها أَحْيَاؤُكم، وكَفِّنوا فيها مَوتاكم، فإِنها مِنْ خيرِ ثيابكُم".
