"I saw Ibn ʿUmar praying while taking his camel as a Sutra in front of him and he said, "I saw the Prophet doing the same."

وَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ

that his uncle said, "I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ lying flat (on his back) in the mosque with one leg on the other." Narrated Saʿid bin Al-Musaiyab that ʿUmar and ʿUthman used to do the same.

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُسْتَلْقِيًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الأُخْرَى وَعَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ كَانَ عُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ يَفْعَلاَنِ ذَلِكَ

Whenever Ibn ʿUmar intended to go to Mecca he used to oil himself with a sort of oil that had no pleasant smell, then he would go to the Mosque of Al-Hulaita and offer the prayer, and then ride. When he mounted well on his Mount and the Mount stood up straight, he would proclaim the intention of assuming Ihram, and he used to say that he had seen the Prophet ﷺ doing the same.

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

I saw the Prophet ﷺ lying-down in the mosque and placing one leg on the other.

أَنَّهُ أَبْصَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَضْطَجِعُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ رَافِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الأُخْرَى

I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ lying on his back in the mosque and putting one of his legs over the other.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مُسْتَلْقِيًا وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الأُخْرَى

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ

وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ

"I came to the Messenger of Allah" and he mentioned something similar. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4176)

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4096)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُهُ»

'Abbad b. Tamim reported from his uncle that he saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ lying in the mosque and placing his one foot upon the other. (Using translation from Muslim 2100a)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مُسْتَلْقِيًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى»

[AI] I saw Abu Al-Qasim doing it.

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ يَفْعَلُهُ

"We prayed with Abdullah bin Mas'ud in his house. He stood between us and we placed our hands on our knees, but he took them off and made us interlace our fingers, and said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1030)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ هَذَا فَفَعَلْتُ

"This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah doing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2932)

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

[AI] "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Give them permission.'"

وَقَالَ رَخَّصَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

AbuSa'id said: I saw Wathilah ibn al-Asqa' in the mosque of Damascus. He spat at the mat and then rubbed it with his foot. He was asked: Why did you do so? He said: Because I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 484)

لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مَا فَعَلْتُ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , turning away from his right."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

Jabir reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the wrapping of oneself completely leaving no room for the arm and supporting oneself when sitting with a single garment wrapped round one's knees and a person raising one of his feet and placing it on the other while lying on his back. عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ اشْتِمَالِ الصَّمَّاءِ وَالِاحْتِبَاءِ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَأَنْ يَرْفَعَ الرَّجُلُ إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى وَهُوَ مُسْتَلْقٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So he mentioned something similar to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْنِ مَخْصُوفَيْنِ.

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his right hand over his left in prayer.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ.

Wa’il b.Hujr said that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raise his hands when he uttered the takbir (Allah is most great). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 725)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ مَعَ التَّكْبِيرِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So he mentioned its likeness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] And he said, "So did the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ."

وَقَالَ كَذَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating chicken.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ دَجَاجًا

This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said and mentioned something similar to it.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is like him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said and mentioned something similar.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed prayer in the house.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْبَيْتِ

[AI] I saw the Prophet ﷺ placing his right hand over his left hand during prayer, and I saw him turning away from his right and left sides.

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turning away from his sides.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ شِقَّيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping over his leather slippers (when doing wudoo’). (Using translation from Aḥmad 216)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ

مَا نَسِيتُ مِنَ الْأَشْيَاءِ لَمْ أَنسَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ

[AI] "I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ praying like this."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي كَذَلِكَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A person should not recline on one side and place one leg on top of the other."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَسْتَلْقِ الْإِنْسَانُ عَلَى قَفَاهُ وَيَضَعْ إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى»

[AI] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it is forbidden for a man to lie down and bend one of his legs over the other.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَلْقِيَ الرَّجُلُ وَيَثْنِيَ إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The (funeral) prayer should be offered for a child.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1507)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ»

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution and wipe over his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ»
