Jabir ibn Samura said, "When we came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, we would sit at the edge of the group."  

الأدب المفرد:١١٤١ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الطُّفَيْلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ

عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَسَ أَحَدُنَا حَيْثُ انْتَهَى

When we came to the Prophet ﷺ, each one would sit down where there was room.  

أبو داود:٤٨٢٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرْكَانِيُّ وَهَنَّادٌ أَنَّ شَرِيكًا أَخْبَرَهُمْ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَسَ أَحَدُنَا حَيْثُ يَنْتَهِي  

tirmidhi:2725 – ʿAlī b. Ḥujr > Sharīk > Simāk b. Ḥarb > Jābir b. Samurah

"When we went to the Prophet ﷺ, each of us would sit wherever he wound up at."  

الترمذي:٢٧٢٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَلَسَ أَحَدُنَا حَيْثُ يَنْتَهِي  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ أَيْضًا
