[Machine] I asked, O Messenger of Allah, I throw my hunting arrow and then I search for it and cannot find it except after a night. He said, "If you see your arrow and no predator has eaten from it, then eat."

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ with a gold cross on my neck. He said, "O 'Adi, take off this idol from your neck." So I removed it and approached him while he was reciting Surah Al-Bara'ah (Chapter 9 of the Quran). He read this verse, "They took their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah" until he finished it. I said, "We do not worship them." He said, "Don't they make lawful what Allah has made unlawful, and you make it unlawful, and they make unlawful what Allah has made lawful, and you make it lawful?" I said, "Yes." He said, "So that is their worship."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fear the Fire, even if it is with a piece of a date. And if you cannot find that, then with a kind word."
"Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2552)
[Machine] He went out to their gathering, and then the prayer was established. Their Imam stepped forward and prolonged the prayer and sitting. When he finished, he said, "Whoever among you has fulfilled the bowing and prostration, let him complete them, for behind him is the young, the old, the sick, the traveler, and the one in need." When the prayer was about to begin, 'Adi came forward and completed the bowing and prostration and made up for what he had missed in the prayer. When he finished, he said, "This is how we used to pray behind the Prophet ﷺ ." The wording is from the Hadith of Ibn Mahdi.
[Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ when a man came and complained about his needs. Then another man came and complained about a disrupted road. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Adiy, have you seen the confusion?" I said, "No, but I have heard about it." He said, "If you live long enough, you will see the captives of Kisra going around the Ka'bah in safety, not fearing anyone except Allah. And if you live long enough, you will see a man coming out with a handful of money seeking anyone to accept it." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Beware of Hell, even if it is with half a date, and if you cannot find that, then with a good word."
[Machine] He heard Adi bin Hatim saying, "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when two men came, one complaining about poverty and the other complaining about a blocked path. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'As for the blocked path, it will not touch you except for a short while until the caravan comes out of Al-Hira to Makkah, a well-supplied caravan. And as for poverty, the Hour will not be established until one of you will walk around with his charity, and he will not find anyone to accept it. Then one of you will stand in the presence of Allah (with his charity), and there will be no barrier between him and Allah (to prevent him from being accepted). He will say, 'Didn't I give you wealth?' and Allah will say, 'Yes.' Then he will say, 'Wasn't I sent to you as a Messenger?' and Allah will say, 'Yes.' Then he will look to his right and will not see anything but the Fire, then he will look to his left and will not see anything but the Fire. So let each of you protect himself from the Fire, even if with only half a date."

[Machine] Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind."
[Machine] I don't have anything to give you, but I have a shield in my cuff. It is yours, but the Arab man got angry and swore not to give it. So, the Prophet said, "I only came to ask you about a servant to help me with it." The Prophet said, "I have ordered you to take my shield, and by Allah, it is more beloved to me than three slave men." The Arab man became interested in it and said, "I accept your offer. Your favor is good." Then 'Adi said, "If I had not heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say, ‘Whoever makes an oath and sees better than it, let him do what is best, as long as he has given you.’"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever takes an oath and then sees something better than it, let him do that which is better and atone for his oath."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever takes an oath and sees something better than it, he should do what is better and break his oath."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever swears an oath and then sees something better than it, should leave it and do what is better."
When anyone amongst you takes an oath, but he finds (something) better than that he should expiate (the breaking of the oath), and do that which is better. (Using translation from Muslim 1651c)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Whoever takes an oath, and then sees something better than it, should do what is better."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever swears an oath and then sees something better than it, let him break his oath and do what is better, and he will be expiated for his oath."
[Machine] I do not have anything to give you except my shield and forgiveness. So, I wrote to my family asking them to give it to you, but they refused. Then, my enemy became angry and said, "By Allah, I will not give you anything." Then, the man was pleased and said, "By Allah, if I had not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever swears an oath to do something and sees that it is more righteous to do something else, then he should do what is more righteous, but he should not break his oath.'"
[Machine] Two men came to the Prophet ﷺ and delivered a sermon. One of them said, "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger is rightly guided, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Stand up, for you are a terrible speaker."

[Machine] A man testified in the presence of the Prophet, ﷺ , saying: "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has been rightly guided, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." The Prophet, ﷺ , said: "Be quiet, for how bad a speaker you are." He disliked what the man said, and whoever disobeys them.
[Machine] I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting in the mosque. The people said, "This is Adi bin Hatim, and he used to be a Christian." I came to him without any security or script, and when I was given the opportunity, he held my hand and said, "I hope that Allah will unite his hand with mine." He then walked with me until we met a woman and a child with her. They said, "We have a need from you." So he went with her and fulfilled her need, then he took me by the hand until we reached his house. I was given a cushion to sit on, and I sat in front of him. He praised and glorified Allah, and then said, "What led you to think that no one is worthy of being worshiped except Allah?" Then he spoke for a while and said, "Does it surprise you or does it harm you that Allah is said to be greater? Do you know anything greater than Allah?" I said, "No." He said, "Verily, the Jews are despised, and the Christians are astray." I said, "I am a Hanif (upright) Muslim." I saw his face light up with joy. Then he ordered me to go to a man from the Ansar, and I went to him in the middle of the day. While I was with him in the evening, some people came to him wearing woolen clothes from this Nimar. He prayed, and then he stood and advised them. He said, "A bushel or half a bushel, even if it is with a handful, should be used to protect one's face from the heat of Hellfire. Even if it is with half a date, one of you should meet Allah with something to say. Did I not make for you hearing and sight?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Did I not make for you wealth and children?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Then where are those things that you have prepared for yourselves?" He looked in front of him, behind him, to his right, and to his left, and he did not find anything that would protect his face. So let one of you protect his face from the Fire, even if it is with half a date. If he cannot find that, then with a good word. Indeed, I do not fear poverty for you, for Allah is your Helper and Provider until the Day of Resurrection. The distance between Al-Tharib and Al-Hira is not far, and what is feared most for its livestock is theft. So I started to say to myself, "Where are the thieves of Thay?"

[Machine] The horses of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or the messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with a scorpion, so they took my aunt and some people. When they came to him (the Prophet) ﷺ , they made way for him. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, the one who has come has left, the child has been severed, and I am an old woman and I have no one to serve me. So may Allah bless whoever helps me." He said, "Who is your guest?" She said, "Adi ibn Hatim." He said, "Which one fled from Allah and His Messenger?" She said, "So may Allah bless whoever helps me." So when Adi returned, there was a man with him who seemed to be Ali. He said, "Salih, carry her loads." She said, "So I asked him and he ordered a donkey. I said, 'You have done what your father used to do.'" She said, "Go to him as a person in need or as a monk, for so and so came to him and he was affected by him, and so and so came to him and he was affected by him. So I went to him, and there was a woman and children or a child with him. He mentioned their relation to the Prophet ﷺ , so I knew that he was not a king like Khosrau and Caesar. He said, "O Adi, what prevents you from saying 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no god but Allah)? Is there any god other than Allah?" He said, "What prevents you from saying 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the greatest)? Is there anything greater than Allah?" So I embraced Islam, and I saw his face light up and he said, "Indeed, the Jews are those who are cursed, and indeed, the Christians are those who are astray." Then some people came to him and praised Allah, and he praised Him. Then he said, "Now, O people, it is for you to be humble before His grace, as a person humbles himself before a measure of food with a measured handful." Shu'bah said, "And most of what I know is that he said with a date, splitting a date. Indeed, one of you will meet Allah and He will say, 'Did I not make you hearing and seeing? Did I not grant you wealth and children? So what have you brought?' So he will look to his right, left, front, and behind him, but he will not find anything. So he will not fear the Fire except by Allah's face. So fear the Fire, even if it is with half a date. And if you do not find that, then with a good word. Indeed, I do not fear poverty for you, for Allah will help you and give you victory, or He will open up for you until the she-camel enters between two mountains, the fear of which is greater, that Thamud feared."

I said: Messenger of Allah, tell me when one of us catches game and has no knife; may he slaughter with a flint and a splinter of stick. He said: Cause the blood to flow with whatever you like and mention Allah's name. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2824)

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whosoever from you is appointed by us to a position of authority and he conceals from us a needle or something smaller than that, it would be misappropriation (of public funds) and will (have to) produce it on the Day of Judgment. The narrator says: A dark-complexioned man from the Ansar stood up - I can visualise him still - and said: Messenger of Allah, take back from me your assignment. He said: What has happened to you? The man said: I have heard you say so and so. He said: I say that (even) now: Whosoever from you is appointed by us to a position of authority, he should bring everything, big or small, and whatever he is given therefrom he should take, and he should restrain himself from taking that which is forbidden. (Using translation from Muslim 1833a)

[Machine] There was a dispute between a man from the Qays tribe and another person, so they went to the Prophet ﷺ for arbitration. The Hadrami asked for evidence, but he did not have any. So, the Prophet ﷺ ruled in favor of the man from the Qays tribe by taking an oath. The Hadrami said, "O Messenger of Allah, if it is possible for you to take an oath from him, I am willing to accept it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever takes a false oath will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Raja' bin Haywa then recited the verse of the Quran, "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price..." The man from the Qays tribe asked, "What will I gain, O Messenger of Allah, if I leave it?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Paradise." He said, "Then, I bear witness that I leave it."

[Machine] Two men came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ disputing over a piece of land. One of them claimed that it was his land, while the other said it was his land as he had cultivated and planted it. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ swore by the One in whose hand is the land.

[Machine] A man from the tribe of Sahm went out with Tamim Al-Dari and Adiy ibn Badda, and Sahmiy died. When they returned, they found a stuffed bag of silver and gold. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ swore them an oath, then it was discovered that they had bought it from Adiy ibn Tamim. Two men from the guardians of Sahmiy stood up and swore by Allah that our testimony is more entitled than their testimony, and that the bag belongs to your companion, and in them is revealed "O you who have believed, testimony should be taken among you."
