Ibn ‘Abbas said The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ returned from ‘Arafah preserving a quiet demeanor and he took Usamah up behind him (on the Camel). He said “O people preserve a quiet demeanor for piety does not consist in exciting the Horses and the Camels (i.e., in driving them quickly).” He (Ibn ‘Abbas) said “Thereafter I did not see them raising their hands running quickly till he came to Al Muzdalifah.” The narrator Wahb added He took Al Fadl bin ‘Abbas up behind him (on the Camel) and said O people piety does not consist in exciting the Horses and the Camels (i.e., in driving them quickly), you must preserve a quiet demeanor”. He (Ibn ‘Abbas) said “Thereafter I did not see them raising their hands till he came to Mina.”
[AI] About Fadl ibn Abbas, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and was with him during his farewell pilgrimage. He said, "When the Prophet ﷺ departed from Arafat, he saw people putting down their weapons and animals. He then commanded his announcer to proclaim, 'Righteousness is not in putting down horses and camels, rather it is in maintaining tranquility.'"

[AI] I saw the Prophet ﷺ standing in Arafat, and he had wrapped himself with a cloak. Then, a Bedouin man came and stood near him, followed by a woman. The man started looking at the woman, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ noticed and turned his face away. Then, the Prophet said, "O people, righteousness is not in the mere display of horses and camels, rather it is in tranquility. So, maintain tranquility." Then, he continued speaking, "I did not see her raise her hand excessively until she reached the gathering." When he stood at a gathering, he elevated Usamah and said, "O people, righteousness is not in the mere display of horses and camels, rather it is in tranquility. Maintain tranquility." Then, he continued speaking. "I did not see her raise her hand excessively until she came to Mina. They brought us a black weakling camel from the camels owned by the Banu Hashim. He struck our thighs and said, 'O sons of Hashim, disperse and do not throw the pebbles until the sun rises."
[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ recited it when he left from Arafat and he recited it with tranquility." And he said: "O People, upon you is tranquility." And he said: "Righteousness is not determined by the raising of horses and camels." And I did not see a camel raising its hand until it reached Mina."
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ overflowed from Arafat with tranquility, and his companion was Usama. He said, "O people, hold on to tranquility, for righteousness is not in aggressiveness with horses and camels." He said, "I did not see her raising her hands until she came together."
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then descended from Arafat and mentioned the hadith until he reached a gathering. Then Al-Fadl ibn Abbas continued and said, "O people, righteousness is not in turning away from horses and camels. So, it is upon you to maintain tranquility. I have not seen anyone raising their hands in supplication until he came from Mina."
