The Apostle of Allah ﷺ led us in the morning prayer in Mecca and began Sarat al-Mu'minin (xxiii ) but when he came to the mention of Moses and Aaron (verse. 45) or to the mention of Jesus (verse 50), a cough got the better of him, and he bowed. 'Abdullah b. Sa'ib was present there, and in the hadith narrated by Abd al-Razzaq (the words are): He cut short (the recitation) and bowed.

صَلَّى لَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ بِمَكَّةَ فَاسْتَفْتَحَ سُورَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَتَّى جَاءَ ذِكْرُ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ أَوْ ذِكْرُ عِيسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَشُكُّ أَوِ اخْتَلَفُوا عَلَيْهِ أَخَذَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السَّائِبِ حَاضِرٌ ذَلِكَ وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ فَحَذَفَ فَرَكَعَ وَفِي حَدِيثِهِ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَلَمْ يَقُلِ ابْنِ الْعَاصِ

‘Abd Allah b. al-Sa’ib said; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the morning prayer at Mecca. He began to recite Surah al-Mu;minin and while he came to description of Moses and Aaron or the description of Moses and Jesus the narrator Ibn ‘Abbad doubts or other narrators differed amongst themselves on this word the prophet ﷺ coughed and gave up (recitation) and then bowed ‘Abd Allah b. al-Sa’ib was present seeing all this incident.

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ performed the Fajr prayer in Mecca. He started reciting Surah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers), and when he reached the mention of Musa and Harun (Moses and Aaron) or the mention of 'Isa (Jesus), Muhammad ibn 'Abbad expressed doubt and they disagreed about it. The Prophet ﷺ took a pebble and rubbed it in his hand, then he performed a bowing (rak'ah). And Ibn As-Sa'ib was present at that time."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ فَافْتَتَحَ سُورَةً الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَى ذِكْرِ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ أَوْ ذِكْرِ عِيسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَشُكُّ فَاخْتَلَفُوا عَلَيْهِ أَخَذَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ قَالَ وَابْنُ السَّائِبِ حَاضِرُ ذَلِكَ

«صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ الصُّبْحَ وَاسْتَفْتَحَ سُورَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ ذِكْرُ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ أَوْ ذِكْرُ عِيسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَشُكُّ أَخَذَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ prayed the morning prayer in Mecca and began reciting Surah Al-Mu'minun, until when the mention of Moses and Aaron or the mention of Jesus came, Muhammad ibn 'Abbad started to doubt and they disagreed about it. The Prophet ﷺ then took a small mat, and said a prostration prayer. Ibn As-Sa'ib was present as well.

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ led us in the morning prayer in Makkah and initiated the recitation of Surah Al-Mu'minun until the mention of Musa and Harun or the mention of Isa (Jesus). Muhammad ibn Abbad doubted or there was a disagreement regarding it. The Prophet ﷺ then took a piece of cloth, wiped it, and performed a prostration. Ibn As-Sa'ib was present during that incident.
