40. Passing of the Prophet ﷺ
٤٠۔ كِتَابُ وَفَاةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
the Messenger of Allah was shrouded in three white Yemeni garments of cotton, among which was no shirt and no turban. It was mentioned to 'Aishah that they said: "He was buried in two garments and a Burd made of Hibrah." She said: "A Burd was brought, but they sent it back and did not shroud him in it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1899)
كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابِ بِيضٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ كُرْسُفٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ قَالَ فَذُكِرَ لِعَائِشَةَ قَوْلُهُمْ فِي ثَوْبَيْنِ وَبُرْدٍ حِبَرَةٍ فَقَالَتْ «قَدِ اتِيَ بِالْبُرْدِ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ رُدُّوهُ وَلَمْ يُكَفِّنُوهُ فِيهِ»
When the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upom him) died, he was covered with a Yamani wrapper. (Using translation from Muslim 942a)
«سُجِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ مَاتَ بِثَوْبٍ حِبَرَةٍ»
«ادْرِجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ثَوْبٍ حِبَرَةٍ ثُمَّ اخِّرَ عَنْهُ» اللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى
