Aishah’s account of her marriage to the Prophet ﷺ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me when I was six years old, and he entered upon me when I was a girl of nine years. She said: We came to Madinah, and I was ill for a month, then my hair grew down in a jumaymah.
Umm Ruman came to me while I was on a swing with my companions, and she called out to me, so I came to her, not knowing what she wanted with me. She took me by my hand and stood me at the door, and I said, “Hah, hah,” until my breath went away. Then she brought me into a house, and there were women of the Ansar. They said, “Upon goodness and blessing, and upon the best fortune.” She handed me over to them, and they washed my head and prepared me. Nothing startled me except that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was there in the forenoon, and they handed me over to him.
