malik:42-2 – Mālik > Ibn Shihāb > al-Sāʾib b. Yazīd

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that as-Sa'ib ibn Yazid informed him that Umar ibn al-Khattab came out to them. He said, "I have found the smell of wine on so-and-so, and he claimed that it was the drink of boiled fruit juice, and I am inquiring about what he has drunk. If it intoxicates, I will flog him." Umar then flogged him with the complete hadd.  

مالك:٤٢-٢ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ

أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مِنْ فُلاَنٍ رِيحَ شَرَابٍ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ شَرَابُ الطِّلاَءِ وَأَنَا سَائِلٌ عَمَّا شَرِبَ فَإِنْ كَانَ يُسْكِرُ جَلَدْتُهُ فَجَلَدَهُ عُمَرُ الْحَدَّ تَامًّا

nasai:5708 – al-Ḥārith b. Miskīn > Ibn al-Qāsim > Mālik > Ibn Shihāb > al-Sāʾib b. Yazīd > ʿUmar

'Umar bin Al-Khattab went out t them and said: "I noticed the smell of drink on so-and-so, and he said that he had drunk At-Tila' (thickened juice of grapes). I am asking about what he drank. If it was an intoxicant I will flog him." So 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, flogged him, carrying out the Hadd punishment in full.  

النسائي:٥٧٠٨ – قَالَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ

"عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّى قَدْ وَجَدْتُ مِنْ فُلَانٍ رِيحَ شَرَاب فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ شَرَابُ الطِّلَاءِ (*) وَإنِّى سَائِلٌ عَمَّا يَشْرَبُ، فَإِنْ كَانَ يُسْكِرُ جَلدْتُهُ الْحدَّ، فَجَلَدَهُ عُمَرُ الْحَدَّ (تَامًا) ".
