“I heard Jabir bin Samurah say: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver the sermon standing, but he used to sit down briefly, then stand up.’”

"I asked Jabir: 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ deliver the Khutbah standing?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver the Khutbah standing, then he would sit for a while, then stand up again.'"

سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً ثُمَّ يَقُومُ  

ذِكْرُ وَصَفِّ الْخُطْبَةِ الَّتِي يَخْطُبُ الْمَرْءُ عِنْدَ الْحَاجَةِ إِلَيْهَا

ibnhibban:2801 – Sulaymān b. al-Ḥasan al-ʿAṭṭār > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh b. Muʿādh from my father > Shuʿbah > Simāk b. Ḥarb

[Machine] I asked Jabir ibn Samurah how the Prophet ﷺ used to deliver speeches. He replied, "He ﷺ would deliver a sermon, then sit for a while, and then stand up and deliver another sermon."  

ابن حبّان:٢٨٠١ – أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ؟ قَالَ «كَانَ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ»
