While Ibn ʿUmar was performing the Tawaf (around the Kaʿba), a man came up to him and said, "O Abu ʿAbdurRahman!" or said, "O Ibn ʿUmar! Did you hear anything from the Prophet ﷺ about An35 Najwa?" Ibn ʿUmar said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, 'The Believer will be brought near his Lord." (Hisham, a sub-narrator said, reporting the Prophet's words), "The believer will come near (his Lord) till his Lord covers him with His screen and makes him confess his sins. (Allah will ask him), 'Do you know (that you did) 'such-and-such sin?" He will say twice, 'Yes, I do.' Then Allah will say, 'I concealed it in the world and I forgive it for you today.' Then the record of his good deeds will be folded up. As for the others, or the disbelievers, it will be announced publicly before the witnesses: 'These are ones who lied against their Lord."

Ibn ʿUmar said, "I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Allah will bring a believer near Him and shelter him with His Screen and ask him: Did you commit such-and-such sins? He will say: Yes, my Lord. How did you hear Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying something about intimate conversation? He said: I heard him say: A believer will be brought to his Lord, the Exalted and Glorious, on the Day of Resurrection and He would place upon him His veil (of Light) and make him confess his faults and say: Do you recognise (your faults)? He would say: My Lord, I do recognise (them). He (the Lord) would say: I concealed them for you in the world. And today I forgive them. And he would then be given the Book containing (the account of his) good deeds. And so far as the non-believers and hypocrites are concerned, there would be general announcement about them before all creation telling them that these (people, i. e. non-believers and hypocrites) told a lie about Allah.

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying in a confidential conversation on the Day of Resurrection. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Indeed, Allah, the Almighty, brings the believer near and covers him with His screen, concealing him from the people, and firmly establishes his sins, then He says to him, 'Do you recognize this sin? Do you recognize that sin?' He continues to mention his sins until the believer acknowledges all his sins. When Allah has established his sins and the believer sees himself doomed, he says, 'I have concealed them for you in the world, and I forgive them for you today.' Then the believer is given the book of his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, the witnesses will say, 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord. [Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say about whispered conversations, "On the Day of Resurrection, the believer will draw near to his Lord as if he were a young bird close to his nest. Then, Allah will cover him with His protection and say, 'Do you recognize this?' The person will respond, 'Yes, My Lord, I do recognize.' Allah will repeat this question three times, and every time, the person will respond, 'Yes, My Lord, I do recognize.' Allah will then say, 'I kept it concealed for you in the world, and today I forgive you.' The person will be given their record of good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, they will be called out and it will be announced upon the heads of the witnesses, 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord.' He will be given a book of good deeds. But as for the disbelievers and hypocrites, the witnesses will say, 'These are the ones who lied about their Lord. May the curse of Allah be upon the wrongdoers.'"

suyuti:5260a

While I was walking with Ibn ʿUmar holding his hand, a man came in front of us and asked, "What have you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about An-Najwa?" Ibn ʿUmar said, "I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Allah will bring a believer near Him and shelter him with His Screen and ask him: Did you commit such-and-such sins? He will say: Yes, my Lord. Allah will keep on asking him till he will confess all his sins and will think that he is ruined. Allah will say: 'I did screen your sins in the world and I forgive them for you today', and then he will be given the book of his good deeds. Regarding infidels and hypocrites (their evil acts will be exposed publicly) and the witnesses will say: These are the people who lied against their Lord. Behold! The Curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers." (11.18) (Using translation from Bukhārī 2441)
