ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَمَّا يَجِبُ عَلَى الْمَرْءِ مِنْ مُدَارَاةِ امْرَأَتِهِ لِيَدُومَ دَوَامُ عَيْشِهِ بِهَا

ibnhibban:4179 – Abū Khalīfah > Ibrāhīm b. Bashhār > Sufyān > Abū al-Zinād > al-Aʿraj > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, woman was created from a rib, and you will never be able to straighten her. If you enjoy her, you enjoy her with a crookedness, and if you try to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her means divorce.'"

ابن حبّان:٤١٧٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ وَلَنْ تَصْلُحَ لَكَ عَلَى طَرِيقَةٍ وَإِنِ اسْتَمْتَعْتَ بِهَا اسْتَمْتَعْتَ بِهَا وَبِهَا عِوَجٌ وَإِنَّ تُرِدْ إِقَامَتَهَا تَكْسِرْهَا وَكَسْرُهَا طَلَاقُهَا»

Woman has been created from a rib and will in no way be straightened for you; so if you wish to benefit by her, benefit by her while crookedness remains in her. And if you attempt to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her is divorcing her.

suyuti:5880a –

Woman has been created from a rib and will in no way be straightened for you; so if you wish to benefit by her, benefit by her while crookedness remains in her. And if you attempt to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her is divorcing her. (Using translation from Muslim 1467b)

السيوطي:٥٨٨٠a –

"إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلَع، لَنْ تَسْتَقِيمَ لَكَ عَلَى طَرِيقَةٍ، فَإِن اسْتَمْتَعْت بها استمتعت بها وبها عوجٌ وَإِنْ ذَهَبْتَ تُقِيمُهَا كَسَرْتَها، وَكَسْرُهَا طَلاقُها".
