ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ حَاضِرٌ فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَلِكَ

"When the Mu'adhdhin called the Adhan, some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ would get up and rush to the pillars (in the Masjid) and pray until the Prophet ﷺ came out and they were like that. They would pray before Maghrib and there was nothing between the Adhan and Iqamah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 682)   

ابن حبّان:١٥٨٩أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

«إِنْ كَانَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ إِذَا أَذَّنَ قَامَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَبْتَدِرُونَ السَّوَارِيَ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُمْ كَذَلِكَ يُصَلُّونَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَ الْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ شَيْءٌ»

"When the Mu'adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan, some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ would proceed to the pillars of the mosque (for the prayer) till the Prophet ﷺ arrived and in this way they used to pray two rakʿat before the Maghrib prayer. There used to be a little time between the Adhan and the Iqama." Shuʿba said, "There used to be a very short interval between the two (Adhan and Iqama).

[Machine] "When the Mu'adhin called for prayer, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would quickly get up to perform the voluntary prayers until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out. They would similarly perform the two rak'ahs before Maghrib prayer. There was little time between the calling for prayer and the commencement of the prayer."

[Machine] "The muezzin used to call the prayer for Maghrib during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would gather at the door. They would line up until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would come out, and they would be in that state." He said, and he did not stay for long.  

الدارمي:١٤٨١أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا قَالَ

كَانَ «الْمُؤَذِّنُ يُؤَذِّنُ لِصَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَقُومُ لُبَابُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَبْتَدِرُونَ السَّوَارِيَ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُمْ كَذَلِكَ» قَالَ وَقَلَّ مَا كَانَ يَلْبَثُ

[Machine] If the muadhin (the one who calls the adhan) calls for prayer, people from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would rush to stand in rows and pray until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would come out to them. They would continue to pray the two units of the sunnah before Maghrib, with nothing in between the adhan and the iqamah.  

البيهقي:٢٢٨١أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ أنبأ شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ قَالَ
