I invited my mother, who was a polytlieist, to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Messenger of Allah ﷺ which I hated. I came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ weeping and said: Messenger of Allah, I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate Allah that He may set the mother of Abu Huraira right. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, set the mother of Abu Huraira on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allah's Apostle ﷺ and when I came near the door it was closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: Abu Huraira, just wait. And I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and opened the door and then said: Abu Huraira, I bear witness to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger. He (Abu Huraira) said: I went back to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Messenger of Allah, be happy, for Allah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira. He (the Holy Prophet) praised Allah, and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Messenger of Allah, supplicate to Allah so that He may instill love of mine and that of my mother too in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, let there be love of these servants of yours, i.e. Abu Huraira and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. (Abu Huraira said: This prayer) was so well granted by Allah that no believer was ever born who heard of me and who saw me but did not love me. (Using translation from Muslim 2491)

[Machine] "Abu Huraira used to be bold in asking the Prophet ﷺ about things that we would not ask him about."
[Machine] "I arrived at the city with the Prophet ﷺ to Khaybar, and a man from the Banu Ghaafar was leading them in the morning prayer. He recited in the first rak'ah 'Kaf Ha Ya 'Ain Saad,' and in the second rak'ah, 'Woe to the Defrauders.' We had a man with us who had two measures: a large measure and a small measure. He would give with one and take with the other." Then I said, "Woe to so and so."

[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ at the funeral of Abu Dahdah. After he prayed upon him, a horse was brought and he rode it while we were running behind him. He ﷺ said, "How many splendid gardens (or rides) for Abu Dahdah in Paradise!"

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ prayed upon Abu Duhdah while we were present. The Prophet ﷺ was brought a horse and he rode it while we crowded around him. He said ﷺ, 'How many delights are there for Abu Duhdah hanging in Paradise!'"
[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has a palm tree, and I have erected my wall with it. So, command him to give it to me, and I will let him keep my wall." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give it to him, and you will have a palm tree in Paradise." The man refused, so Abu ad-Dahhak came to him and said, "Sell me your palm tree for my wall." The man agreed, so Abu ad-Dahhak went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have bought his palm tree in exchange for my wall. So, give it to him." The Prophet ﷺ said, "How many sweet dates will there be for Abu ad-Dahhak in Paradise!" He repeated this several times. Then, Abu ad-Dahhak went to his wife and said, "O mother of ad-Dahhak, leave the wall, for I have sold it in exchange for a palm tree in Paradise." She said, "The price is a good one."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said, "I have been informed that Ibn Safwan ibn Nubayh al-Hudhali has gathered people to support me while he is near a date palm or a cluster of dates, so go to him." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, describe him to me so that I may recognize him." He said, "One of the signs between you and him is that when you see him, you will find a shiver down your spine." He said, "So I set out with my sword wrapped around me until I came to him while he was in a shady place which he usually visited at the time of Asr prayer. When I saw him, I found exactly what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had described to me. So I approached him and feared that there might be some attempt to distract me from the prayer, so I prayed while walking towards him and nodded with my head. When I finished the prayer, I went up to him and he said, "Who is it?" I said, "A man from the Arabs who heard about you and your gathering for this man and came for that reason." He said, "It is indeed me." So I walked with him for a while until it was possible for me to seize him with my sword, so I killed him. Then I came and left his belongings piled up around him. When I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he saw me, he said, "The face has succeeded." I said, "I killed him, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You have spoken the truth." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up with me and took me to his house and gave me a stick and said, "Keep this stick with you, O Abdullah ibn Unays." He said, "So I went out with it among the people, and they said, "What is this stick?" I said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave it to me and ordered me to keep it." They said, "Why don't you return to the Messenger of Allah and ask him about it?" He said, "So I went back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, why did you give me this stick?" He said, "It is a sign between you and me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, the least of people on that day will be those who are too short." So Abdullah linked it to his sword and it remained with him until his death. Then he (the Prophet) ordered that it be buried with him in his shroud, and so we were all buried together.

I have never heard the Prophet ﷺ saying about anybody walking on the earth that he is from the people of Paradise except ʿAbdullah bin Salam. The following Verse was revealed concerning him: "And a witness from the children of Israel testifies that this Qur'an is true" (46.10) (Using translation from Bukhārī 3812)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was brought a bowl, and we drank from it. It overflowed with blessings, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man will emerge from this valley who will eat from this bowl among the people of Paradise." Saad said, "I left my brother Umair to perform ablution, thinking he is my brother." Then Abdullah ibn Salam came and ate from it.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Verily, he is (one of) the tenth (people) in Paradise."
I was sitting in a circle in the mosque of Medina and there was an old man, quite handsome. He was 'Abdullah b. Salim. He was telling good things to them (to the people sitting in that company). As he stood up (to depart) the people said: He who is desirous of looking at a person from amongst the people of Paradise should see him. I said: By Allah, I will follow him, and would try to know his residence. So I followed him and he walked on until he reached the outskirts of Medina. He then entered his house. I sought permission from him to get in, and he granted me the permission, saying: My nephew, what is the need (that has brought you here)? I said to him: As you stood up, I heard people say about you: He who is desirous of seeing a person from among the people of Paradise should look at him. So I became desirous of accompanying you. He ('Abdullah b. Salim) said: It is Allah Who knows best about the people of Paradise. I would, however, narrate to you as to why they said like it. (The story is) that while I was asleep (one night) there came to me a person (in the dream) who asked me to stand up. (So I stood up) and he caught hold of my hand and I walked along with him, and, lo, I found some paths on my left and I was about to set out upon them. Thereupon he said to me Do not set yourself on (them) for these are the paths of the leftists (denizens of Hell-fire). Then there were paths leading to the right side, whereupon he said: Set yourself on these paths. We came across a hill and he said to me: Climb up, and I attempted to climb up that I fell upon my buttocks. I made several attempts (but failed to succeed). He led until he came to a pillar (so high) that its upper end touched the sky and its base was in the earth. And there was a handhold at its upper end. He said to me Climb over it. I said: How can I climb upon it, as its upper end touches the sky? He cought hold of my hand and pushed me up and I found myself suspended with the handhold. He then struck the pillar and it fell down, but I remained attached to that handhold until it was morning (and the dream was thus over). I came to Allah's Apostle ﷺ and narrated it to him. He said: So far as the paths which you saw on your left are concerned, these are paths of the leftists (denizens of Hell) and the paths which you saw on your right, these are the paths of the rightists (the dwellers of Paradise) and the mountain represents the destination of the martyrs which you would not be able to attain. [Machine] When this verse was revealed: "O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech" (Quran 49:2), Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas was sitting in his house. He said, "I am the one who used to raise my voice and speak loudly to him, and I am one of the people of Hellfire." The Prophet ﷺ missed him, so they informed him about it, and he said, "Rather, he is one of the people of Paradise." Anas said, "So we used to see him walking among us, knowing that he is from the people of Paradise. And on the day of Yamamah, when this revelation was revealed, he put on his clothes and prepared himself, then he fought until he was killed."

When we reached Ghals, Abdur-Rahman ibn 'Uwainah became jealous of the Prophet's camels and killed their shepherd. He then began driving them away while being accompanied by people. I said to Rabah, "Sit on this horse, catch up to Tublah, and inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that his camels have been seized." So I went up onto a hill, faced towards the city, and called out three times, "O morning has come!" Then I followed the group with my sword and spear. I began throwing and striking them when the trees became dense. When a horseman came towards me, I killed him, for I do not hesitate to confront a horseman. I continued throwing and saying...

When this verse was revealed: "You will never attain righteousness till you give freely of what you love" (iii. 91), Abu Talha got up and, going to Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: Allah says in His Book: "You will never attain righteousness till you give freely of what you love," and the dearest of my property is Bairaha' so I give it as Sadaqa to God from Whom I hope for reward for it and the treasure with Allah; so spend it, Messenger of Allah, on whatever purpose you deem it proper. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Well done! that is a profitable deal, that is a profitable deal. I have heard what you have said, but I think you should spend it on your nearest relatives. So Abu Talha distributed it among the nearest relatives and his cousins on his father's side. (Using translation from Muslim 998a)

She said, "I took it, and by Allah, a man approached me and I struck him in his stomach." Abu Talha said, "Do you not pay attention to what Um Salim is saying? She is saying such and such." She said, "O Messenger of Allah, kill those who come after us from the Thulqa' because they retreated because of you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Um Salim, Allah is sufficient and He is the best."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered the house of Umm Salim and she brought him dates and clarified butter. He said, "Take your clarified butter and put it in its container, and put your dates in their place, for I am fasting." Then he went to a side of the house and performed a non-obligatory prayer and made supplication for Umm Salim and her family. Umm Salim said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a cousin." He asked, "Who is it?" She replied, "It is your servant Anas, who has not left anything good for the hereafter or the worldly life except that you supplicate for it." Then he said, "O Allah, grant him wealth, children, and bless him." Anas said, "I have never seen anyone among the Ansar (helpers) who has more wealth than me." He also mentioned that his daughter Umaynah informed him that he was buried near the Mashhad of Al-Hajjaj in Basra.

[Machine] "He (Abu Talhah) has no equal to you. But I am a Muslim woman and you are a disbelieving man, so it is not permissible for me to marry you. However, if you convert, that will be my dowry and I will not ask you for anything else." So he converted and she became his wife. They consummated the marriage and she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy in the morning. Abu Talhah loved him intensely. The boy lived until he was able to move, but then he fell ill and Abu Talhah was deeply saddened by him to the point of becoming physically weak. He would visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the day and stay there until the evening. The baby eventually passed away, and Umm Sulaym performed the necessary rituals for him, cleaned him, and placed him in their bed. Abu Talhah came and asked her, "How is our son doing?" She replied, "He is in the best condition since he fell ill. He had a peaceful night." Abu Talhah praised Allah and was pleased with that. She served him dinner, and after eating, he touched her in a subtle way, and she allowed it until they had intimate relations. Afterward, when he got up, he mentioned to her, "If you were to lend a neighbor of yours some priceless possessions and then he wanted to take them back, would you return them to him?" She replied, "By Allah, I would certainly return them to him." He said, "Is your own self valuable to you?" She said, "My own self is definitely valuable to me." He said, "Indeed, Allah has lent us a son and allowed us to enjoy him for as long as He wished, but then He took him back. So be patient and seek reward from Allah." Abu Talhah remained patient and then set off in the morning to visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and narrated to him the incident as told by Umm Sulaym. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless both of you in your night." Umm Sulaym became pregnant again, and this time the pregnancy was heavier. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "When Umm Sulaym gives birth, bring the child to me." Abu Talhah wrapped the baby in a cloth and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah then chewed a date and placed it in the baby's mouth, and the baby immediately stopped crying. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "The people of Madinah love dates." He smoothed the baby's hair, named him Abdullah, and made dua for him.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "What happened to Abu Umair?" He (Abu Talhah) replied, "He fell ill, and Abu Talhah was absent in one of his gardens. The child died, so Umm Sulaim washed, shrouded, and perfumed him, and she put a cloth on him and said, 'No one should inform Abu Talhah until I inform him myself.' Then Abu Talhah came in angrily as he was fasting, so Umm Sulaim prepared herself for him and made herself presentable. She brought him his dinner, and he asked, 'What did Abu Umair do?' She replied, 'He had dinner and afterwards he was gone.' He said, 'Then I will also have dinner.' He ate from it what a man would eat from his family, and then she said, 'O Abu Talhah, have you seen a people who would lend their clothes to another family naked? So their owners may ask them to return it, or they would keep it?' He replied, 'No, they would return it to them.' She said, 'Then be patient and have hope, O Abu Umair.' He became angry and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the words of Umm Sulaim. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'May Allah bless your night.' Then she gave birth to Abdullah bin Abu Talhah on the seventh day. Umm Sulaim said to me, 'O Anas, take this baby and this towel, and there is some ajwa dates in it, to the Prophet ﷺ so that he will massage and name him.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ with the baby, and he extended his legs and laid him down in his bed, and he took a date, chewed it, and placed it in the mouth of the baby and rubbed it on his palate. Then he said, 'The Ansar would only love dates.'"

He (the Holy Prophet) sent me along with Abu 'Amir and Abu 'Amir received a wound in his knee from the arrow, (shot by) a person of Bani Jusham. It stuck in his knee. I went to him and said: Uncle, who shot an arrow upon you? Abu 'Amir pointed out to Abu Musa and said: Verily that one who shot an arrow upon me in fact killed me. Abu Musa said: I followed him with the determination to kill him and overtook him and when he saw me he turned upon his heels. I followed him and I said to him: Don't you feel ashamed (that you run), aren't you an Arab? Why don't you stop? He stopped and I had an encounter with him and we exchanged the strokes of (swords). I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I came back to Abu Amir and said: Verily Allah has killed the one who killed you. And he said: Now draw out this arrow. I drew out the arrow and there came out from that (wound) water. Abu 'Amir said: My nephew, go to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and convey my greetings to him and tell him that Abu Amir begs you to ask forgiveness for him. And Abu Amir appointed me as the chief of the people and he died after a short time. When I came to Allah's Apostle ﷺ I visited him and he had been lying on the cot woven by strings and there was (no) bed over it and so there had been marks of the strings on the back of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and on his sides. I narrated to him what had happened to us and narrated to him about Abu Amir and said to him that he had made a request to the effect that forgiveness should be sought for him (from Allah). Thereupon Messenger of Allah (may peace be. upon him) called for water and performed ablution with it. He then lifted his hands and said. O Allah, grant pardon to Thy servant Abu Amir. (The Prophet had raised his hands so high for supplication) that I saw the whiteness of his armpits. He again said: O Allah, grant him distinction amongst the majority of Thine created beings or from amongst the people. I said: Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for me too. Thereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Allah, forgive the sins of Abdullah b. Qais (Abu Musa Ash'ari) and admit him to an elevated place on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Burda said: One prayer is for abu 'Amir and the other is tor Abu Musa. (Using translation from Muslim 2498)

[Machine] We were informed by Al-Muthanna Al-Abdi, the father of Munazil, one of Bani Ghanm, from Al-Ashajj Al-Asari that he came with a group from Abd Al-Qays to visit the Prophet ﷺ . They arrived and the Prophet ﷺ welcomed them and allowed them to stay with him. When they arrived, the Prophet ﷺ raised his voice for them, so they dismounted. The people rushed and only wore their travel clothes. Al-Asari then led the prayer and straightened the rows for his companions and his camel. He then took off his clothes from his cloak and that was seen by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he approached the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Indeed, you possess two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love." Al-Asari asked, "What are they?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Humility and patience." Al-Asari asked, "Is that something I was created with, or something I can learn?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, rather it is something you were created with." Al-Asari said, "All praise is due to Allah." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of Abd Al-Qays, why do I see that your faces have changed?" They said, "O Prophet of Allah, we are in a land of famine, where we used to take from these leaves what would cut into our stomachs. But when we were prohibited from eating them, this is what you see in our faces." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, leaves are neither halal (permissible) nor haram (forbidden), but every intoxicant is haram. And it is not that you should withhold from drinking until your veins are filled, then you get into a dispute and one man strikes his cousin with a sword, leaving him crippled." He added, "And on that day, he (Al-Asari) was the crippled one among the people who experienced this."

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Salam went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he first arrived in Medina and said, "I have three questions that only a prophet knows." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ask." Abdullah asked, "What is the first sign of the Hour or the first thing that will happen at the Hour? What do the people of Paradise eat? And what causes a child to resemble his father or his mother?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Jibril informed me about them earlier." Jibril said, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "That is one of the enemies of the Jews from the angels." The Prophet ﷺ continued, "As for the first sign of the Hour or the first thing that will happen at the Hour, it is a fire that will come out of the East and drive people to the West. As for what the people of Paradise eat, it is the additional lobe of the liver of a fish. And as for what causes a child to resemble his father or mother, when the water of the man precedes the water of the woman, the child resembles the father, and when the water of the woman precedes the water of the man, the child resembles the mother." Abdullah said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah." Abdullah said, "O Messenger of Allah, the Jews are a confused people. If they come to know about my conversion to Islam before the others, a group of them will accompany me and ask them which one among them is Abdullah ibn Salam." They would respond, "The best and most knowledgeable among us." Abdullah went back to them and said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah." They said, "Woe to us, he is the most evil among us." Abdullah said, "This is the person I was afraid of them realizing."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ and I went together until we entered the synagogue of the Jews in the city on their holiday, but they did not like our entry. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "O assembly of Jews, show me twelve men who bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and Allah will remove His anger from any Jew beneath the sky." None of them answered him, so he repeated his request three times, and no one answered him. Then he said, "You have refused, so by Allah, I am the gatherer, the last to live, and the one who will strike with punishment. Have you believed or denied?" Then he left and I was with him until he was about to leave, when a man from behind us said, "As you are, O Muhammad." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who are you, O Jews?" They said, "We do not know of any person among us who is more knowledgeable about the Book of Allah than you, nor more understanding than you or your father before you, or your grandfather before your father." He said, "Then I bear witness for him with Allah that he is the Messenger of Allah whom you find written in the Torah." They said, "You have lied." Then they rejected him and said evil things to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "You have lied, and your words will not be accepted. As for now, you praise him with good words when he does something good, but when he believes, you deny him and say what you do not say. Your words will not be accepted." Then we left, and we were three: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abdullah ibn Salam, and I. Then Allah revealed in this regard the verse: "Say, 'Have you considered: if it is from Allah and you disbelieved in it...?'" (Surah Al-An'am, 6:35).
