59. Book of Virtues of the Companions
٥٩۔ كِتَابُ إِخْبَارِهِ ﷺ عَنْ مَنَاقِبِ الصَّحَابَةِ، رِجَالِهُمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ بِذِكْرِ أَسْمَائِهِمْ رَضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «غِلَظُ الْقُلُوبِ وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي أَرْضِ الْحِجَازِ»
ذِكْرُ إِضَافَةِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ الْإِيمَانَ، وَالْفِقْهَ، وَالْحِكْمَةَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people of Yemen have come to you, they have the most tender hearts in faith, the people of Yemen. They have knowledge and wisdom, and their pride and arrogance lies in their camels' owners. And the dignity lies in the owners of the sheep."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَتَاكُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَّةٌ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْإِبِلِ وَالْوَقَارُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْغَنَمِ»
59.6.2 Subsection
٥٩۔٦۔٢ ذِكْرُ إِضَافَةِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ الْحِكْمَةَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ
[Machine] While the Prophet ﷺ was in Medina, he said, "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. The help of Allah has come, and victory has come, and the people of Yemen have come, a pure-hearted people whose obedience is faith, their understanding is Yemenite, and their wisdom is Yemenite."
بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْمَدِينَةِ إِذْ قَالَ «اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَجَاءَ الْفَتْحُ وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ قَوْمٌ نَقِيَّةٌ قُلُوبُهُمْ لَيِّنَةٌ طَاعَتُهُمْ الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَّةٌ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Faith is Yemeni and wisdom is Yemeni, and the head of disbelief is towards the East."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَّةٌ وَرَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ»
59.6 [Machine] The Hijaz, Yemen, Sham, and Fars: Mentioning the name of Iman applied to the people of Hijaz.
٥٩۔٦ بَابُ الْحِجَازِ، وَالْيَمَنِ، وَالشَّامِ، وَفَارِسٍ، وَعُمَانَ ذِكْرُ إِطْلَاقِ اسْمِ الْإِيمَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ
ذِكْرُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا أُطْلِقَ اسْمُ الْإِيمَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ
There have come the people of Yemen; they are tender of hearts, the belief is that of the Yemenites, the understanding (of the faith) is that of the Yemenites and sagacity is that of the Yemenites. (Using translation from Muslim 52a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «جَاءَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَّةٌ»
ذِكْرُ دُعَاءِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ بِالْبَرَكَةِ لِلشَّامِ وَالْيَمَنِ
that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Allah bless us in our Sham! O Allah bless us in our Yemen." They said: "And in our Najd" He said: "O Allah bless us in our Sham and bless us in our Yemen." They said: "And in our Najd" He said: "Earthquakes are there, and tribulations are there." Or he said: "The horn of Shaitan comes from there." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3953)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَامِنَا اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي يَمَنِنَا» قَالُوا وَفِي نَجْدِنَا قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَامِنَا اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي يَمَنِنَا» قَالُوا وَفِي نَجْدِنَا قَالَ «هُنَالِكَ الزَّلَازِلُ وَالْفِتَنُ وَبِهَا أَوْ قَالَ مِنْهَا يَخْرُجُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ»
ذِكْرُ ابْتِغَاءِ الْفَضْلِ وَالصَّلَاحِ لِمُسْتَوْطِنِ الشَّامِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "If the people of Sham become corrupt, there is no good in all of you."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا فَسَدَ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ فَلَا خَيْرَ فِيكُمْ»
ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَلَى أَنَّ الْفَسَادَ إِذَا عَمَّ فِي الشَّامِ يَعُمُّ ذَلِكَ فِي سَائِرِ الْمُدُنِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the people of Sham (a region in present-day Syria) are corrupted, there is no good in you."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا فَسَدَ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ فَلَا خَيْرَ فِيكُمْ»
ذِكْرُ بَسْطِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَجْنِحَتَهَا عَلَى الشَّامِ لِسَاكِنِيهَا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said one day while we were with him, "Blessings be upon the Sham (region)." He said, "Indeed, the angels of the Most Merciful spread their wings over it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَهُ «طُوبَى لِلشَّامِ» قَالَ «إِنَّ مَلَائِكَةَ الرَّحْمَنِ لَبَاسِطَةٌ أَجْنِحَتَهَا عَلَيْهِ»
ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِسُكُونِ الشَّامِ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ إِذْ هِيَ مَرْكَزُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "A fire will emerge upon you in the end of times from Hadramaut that will gather the people." We asked, "What do you command us to do, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Head towards Sham (Syria)."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «سَتَخْرُجُ عَلَيْكُمْ نَارٌ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ تَحْشُرُ النَّاسَ» قَالَ قُلْنَا بِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ»
ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارُ عَمَّا يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْمَرْءِ مِنْ سُكْنَى الشَّامِ عِنْدَ ظُهُورِ الْفِتَنِ بِالْمُسْلِمِينَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, you will be recruited into armies, an army in Sham, an army in Iraq, and an army in Yemen." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, which one should I join?" He said, "You should join the army in Sham. Whoever refuses, let them go to Yemen, but beware of its treachery. Indeed, Allah has taken charge of Sham and its people for me."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّكُمْ سَتُجَنَّدُونَ أَجْنَادًا جُنْدًا بِالشَّامِ وَجُنْدًا بِالْعِرَاقِ وَجُنْدًا بِالْيَمَنِ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ خِرْ لِي؟ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ فَمَنْ أَبَى فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِيَمَنِهِ وَلْيَسْقِ مِنْ غُدَرِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَكَفَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ»
ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الشَّامَ هِيَ عُقْرُ دَارِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ
[Machine] "A victory has been granted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I went to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, the horses have been rested and the weapons have been put down, as the burdens of war have been lifted and they said there will be no fighting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: They are lying, the fighting has now arrived, the fighting has now arrived. Indeed, Allah, the Exalted and Almighty, misguides the hearts of certain people and causes those who fight against them to be given provisions from them, until the decree of Allah comes to pass in that matter, and the striking of Dar al-Mu'minin in Ash-Sham."
فُتِحَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَتْحٌ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سُيِّبَتِ الْخَيْلُ وَوَضَعُوا السِّلَاحَ فَقَدْ وَضَعَتِ الْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا وَقَالُوا لَا قِتَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَذَبُوا الْآنَ جَاءَ الْقِتَالُ الْآنَ جَاءَ الْقِتَالُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَلَّ وَعَلَا يُزِيغُ قُلُوبَ أَقْوَامٍ يُقَاتِلُونَهُمْ وَيَرْزُقُهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَعُقْرُ دَارِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الشَّامُ»
ذِكْرُ شَهَادَةِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ لِأَهْلِ فَارِسٍ بِقَوْلِ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْحَقِّ
[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the verse {and others among them who have not yet joined them} was revealed to him. A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these people?" He did not answer him. Salman approached and hit the Prophet ﷺ on the shoulder and said, "If faith was suspended from the Pleiades, men from this nation would still reach and attain it."
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ {وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ} فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ فَعَادَ وَمَضَى سَلْمَانُ فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى مَنْكِبِهِ وَقَالَ «لَوْ كَانَ الْإِيمَانُ مُعَلَّقًا بِالثُّرَيَّا لَتَنَاوَلَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ قَوْمِ هَذَا»
ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ ثَانٍ يُصَرِّحُ بِالْمَعْنَى الَّذِي أَوْمَأْنَا إِلَيْهِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْ كَانَ الْعِلْمُ بِالثُّرَيَّا لَتَنَاوَلَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَبْنَاءِ فَارِسٍ»
ذِكْرُ شَهَادَةِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ لِأَهْلِ عُمَانَ بِالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ لَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a man to a tribe among the Arab tribes for something that I don't know what he said. They insulted him and beat him, so he returned to the Prophet ﷺ and complained to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "But if my messenger had gone to the people of Oman, they would not have insulted him or beaten him."
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا إِلَى حَيٍّ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ فِي شَيْءٍ لَا أَدْرِي مَا قَالَ فَسَبُّوهُ وَضَرَبُوهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «لَكِنْ أَهْلُ عُمَانَ لَوْ أَتَاهُمْ رَسُولِي مَا سَبُّوهُ وَلَا ضَرَبُوهُ»
